Ok, so I was told by my doctor that I probably won't feel the baby move as much as I would if my placenta was posterior. I do feel her move--maybe about 5 times a day, but the movements are so subtle.
I'm starting to get worried though. I keep hearing other moms say that the kicks and jabs from baby sometimes are painful and take their breath away! I have never experienced anything like this!
I will be 29 weeks tomorrow and already had three ultrasounds due to some other issue that they thought was going on, but now baby is ok. I'll be having my fourth ultrasound next month because they told me that she was measuring on the "big" side -- at 27 weeks she was measuring 3 pounds! I tested negative for gestational diabetes, so with a baby that large--wouldn't you think I should feel some strong kicks and jabs?
Have any of you ladies had or have an anterior placenta and haven't felt much movement even into the third trimester??
Just looking for some reassurance and to see that I'm not the only one going through this. Thanks for listening!! )
Re: Question about anterior placenta and baby movement --- a little worried!
I have one. Her kicks have just started to get uncomfortable. I didn't feel consistent, daily movement until 30 weeks at least.
Ditto
Proud mother of two breech babies:)
This was me with DS for my first pregnancy - this time I have a posterior placenta with DD and you wouldn't believe the difference. Now I know what everyone was telling me about the first time - I never had kicks/jabs take my breath away with DS but I do this time with DD.
GL!
I had an anterior placenta with my twins and didn't feel any movement until 22 weeks. I eventually felt crowding and pressure on my ribs, but the super strong kicks were far and few between. And those didn't come until later in the third trimester. Both my twins were a healthy 6 lbs when they were born at 38 weeks.
I much prefer a posterior placenta because frequent, strong movements are certainly reassuring!
I had an anterior placenta with my first and never felt anything in the middle of my belly. Only on the sides, down low and up high. No movements ever felt painful, and they were subtle movements until my 3rd tri. This time around my placenta is posterior and it's a whole different ball game! Sometimes painful jabs, the feeling of pressure and tightening when he stretches out or moves a certain way, movements and kicks everywhere, etc.
I think what you're feeling is normal for an anterior placenta.
Same exact thing with me. I hardly felt DD #1 move during first pregnancy and this one is pretty wild! She is moving all the time!
I also have an anterior placenta. I feel baby move plenty, and they are often strong, but I've never had any kicks that hurt -- some take me by surprise when they are in a new place (got my first swift kick to the bladder last night -- that was fun.)
I'm a FTM, so I can't say it's all because of the placenta placement, but I would think between placenta placement, baby's position, each baby's activity level, etc. that it probably varies a lot from person to person.
Are you doing kick counts? Because for awhile I thought I wasn't feeling LO move often. Once I did a few kick counts at night I realized that I was just overlooking a lot of movement that happened when I was busy at work, doing housework, even engrossed in a TV show. If I'm not sitting still and concentrating on it, I miss a lot of his activity.
