How long is your LO sleeping at night?

Just curious how many hours at a time your LO sleeps at night. My son is 8 weeks old, EBF, and still waking every 2 hours. (1.5 hours just now!). We have him in his crib. He was going almost every 4 hours when in bed with me but I'm done co sleeping. Anyone else still doing every 2 hours at night? It's definitely starting to wear on me.

  • Oh and it's not like he isn't sleeping soundly in his crib. He does really well in there. He just isn't staying full it seems.

  • My boys usually do a 6 hour stretch (ebf and will be 10 weeks on Sunday). If I don't remember to turn on their sound machine, they don't sleep well. Do you use anything for white noise? When I started using white noise, they started sleeping longer stretches

My LO was waking every 2-3 hours until just recently. I also EBF. He's 10 weeks now and just started doing 4-5 hour stretches a few days ago. I think it's because I moved him from bassinet to crib.

  • Ooh no I don't. I will try that. Thanks!

How loud do you turn your sound machine? I've tried it a few times with mixed results, not sure if I had it too loud or not loud enough ;)

  • B sleeps anywhere from 4-6 hours in her pack n play in our room. Then usually 2-3 hour stretches after that. I also EBF. I'm scared of what our sleep will look like when we transition her to her crib, she won't even nap in it :/

We had a bassinet in our room and he did the same thing, up every couple of hours if not sooner. So I usually just kept him with me but I am not a co sleeping kind of mama. I need my space so we put him in his crib. He doesn't nap well in the crib during the day either. He does ok napping in a bouncy seat or the swing tho so I feel like it's not always a "mama I need you" thing.

What kind of noise machine do you use? Water sounds? Or the womb sounds?
  • I use rain or ocean sounds. The heartbeat one freaks me out.

  • Amelia is 6.5 weeks old and is usually sleeping 5 straight. Usually asleep by 10-1030 and up at 3-4. Today I got 10:45 .. up at 4:45! 6 hours! And she's been doing this for the last week or so. I lucked out I think. She is FF

  • It seems to vary by night. Anywhere between 6-9 hours. We FF and he's 8 weeks. Some nights he is up more.

  • We're 4 months old...a mixture of BF and FF. (about 2 bottles of formula per day cause I can't keep up!) They sleep in their own cribs in their own room with a humidifier running. We typically get 6-8 hour stretch and then a 2-4 hour stretch. They go 2-3 hours throughout the day.

  • I usually dream feed at 10pm. Then she wakes up sometime between 4-7am. It depends on how much she ate too.

She'll be 7 weeks on Sunday, but this has been her schedule for awhile now. She's bottle fed a combo of breast milk and formula.

  • EBF and eight weeks old here. He does one extra feed at night, before bed, and then usually does a 5 hour stretch and a 3-4 hour stretch.
  • I EBF and DD is almost 9 weeks. When she was sleeping with me she was just starting do a 4-5 hour stretch and then would do 3 hours after that. We just started the transition back to her crib tonight and so far she slept 4 hours, 1 hour, and then 2 hours.

  • 9 weeks. We usually get one 6-hour stretch. But she still cluster feeds like crazy in the evening. Is tanking up, I guess.

Both babies usually sleep between 5-7 hours and have been for a couple of weeks (they are 12 weeks now). We use a sound machine with rain sounds up as loud as it goes. I think it helps them a lot, especially with a noisy big brother in the house.

  • 8 hours last night!!!!

That's not our norm...anywhere between 4-6 hours is our usual. LO is EBF.

  • LO is 9 weeks old. She goes to bed at around 8 then wakes up for a feeding at around 3. Then back to bed at around 4. Up at around 630 or 7 to feed.
  • Skyla slept through the night last night. From about 9 pm to 6:15 am. It was great and tonight she did 11-3:45 am and then she went right back to sleep and hasn't woke up yet. I've been having to get up to pump since she isn't eating that much at night. I'm sorry to hear those that are still on 2 hours at a time. We were just there last week. It's like she flipped on a switch or something.
  • A was doing one 4-5 hr stretch then one 3-4....until a couple of nights ago when he suddenly slept TEN, and since has gone 6-7. (I've noticed he marks changes in his pattern by an initial veeeeeeeery long stretch).

  • He is ebf, 12 weeks, and usually does a 5 or 6 hour stretch. Tonight it was onlu 4 hours between feeds though.

When I nurse she wakes up hungry within 2 hours. When I feed her a pumped bottle or formula (4-5oz) she'll sleep typically 4 hours, occasionally 5
    (5 weeks old)
  • He is 9 weeks, 11 pounds and EBF. The usual is 11-3 and then 4-6. Then I feed him in bed around 6 and he will take a little nap until waking for good at 7 or 7:30.

I usually have it turned up pretty loud. A lot of times, if they're still awake after a few minutes of putting them down, turning it up a little is just what they need to fall asleep

  • Are you making sure he is really full after MOTN feelings, not just letting him fall asleep? (Eg, waking him up by changing his diaper to make him eat from the other side?)

My LO will be 8 weeks old tomorrow. He does a 2-3 hours stretch when we put him in his bassinet at the beginning of the night, then he wakes up every 1-2 hours. I. Am. Exhausted.

  • DS is 11 weeks and will sleep from 7-9 hours at night. That just started this week though. He did 7 hours on Sunday then started doing 8 or 9 as the week went on. Usually falls asleep between 9:00-9:30 and won't get up until 6:00 or so. He's FF.
  • Babies are 14 weeks (7 corrected) EBF, and just the past few days have started sleeping about a 6 hour stretch, then 4. Before that they started doing every 2 hours for about a week. Hopefully your LO is just bulking up to be able to get some better sleep soon!

  • Elise is six weeks old, and I hope she's currently going through a growth spurt. She was doing about 4 hours, then eating, then maybe three more... now she's still doing 4-5 hours to start (or even six one night!), but then she's waking up every hour after that. She acts hungry every time she wakes up, even though I change her diaper and have her eat from both sides when she does her first wake up. I'm exhausted from the last few days! She's taking nice long naps during the day, so it's just the second part of the night that is killing us.

Also, I go to a mom's group at our hospital each week, and she gained nine ounces from last Tuesday to this Tuesday! That is a ton for one week, right? Yet she's still eating and waking as though it's a growth spurt. Tuesday she was 6w1d, and weighed 10 lbs 13 oz. She's not a small baby, that's for sure!
  • Lucas is 9 weeks, EBF, he sleeps about 9pm-2am then after MOTN feeding, diaper change and re-swaddling he sleeps 3am to about 5:30am or sometimes 6am, after this it's hard to get him back down to sleep. I swaddle, white noise (fan sounds from an app I found is use it on my old iPhone, on a dock and keep it pretty loud). During the day he'll nap 2-3 hrs if I swaddle, white noise and rock to sleep, and he will only sleep in the bouncer/swing we have, crib or bassinet he wakes right up.

Does that machine play continuously or is it timed? I have a sleep sheep but hate that it is timed she wakes up when it turns off.

Yes I am exhausted too! He goes for his 2 month check up on the 19th so I'm going to ask if there is anything we can do. Maybe give him rice cereal to help him feel full...? I'm at a loss and need some better sleep myself. He is 15 lbs so he's a big boy so I'm thinking he could handle the cereal. Or at least start him on it at 3 mos instead of 4. And he typically does eat on both sides during the night. Last night I couldn't get him to take the left bc he was so asleep and he was up after an hour. I'm going to get a noise machine today and see if it helps.
  • Ebf (one 5oz bottle of BM per day usually in the evening). 8 weeks tomorrow.
Let's see. She eats at about 7. Then I feed her again before crawling in bed between 8:30-9:30.
She's slept until 3:30-4:30 for one week now. So...6-8hrs for the first stretch. Then an hour to feed/back to sleep.
Then she's up about 7-8. And she will eat every 3-4hours for the rest of the day.
  • I use an ocean app (free) on my phone and leave it near wherever she is sleeping (usually with us) and it added an hour onto her sleep. She sleeps about 5-6 hours during the night stretch.

She still is napping a lot during the day too.

  • I definitely don't expect him to sleep all night but if I can get him to the 3-4 hour stretch it would make a big difference. Waking every 1.5 hours or less is no fun.
  • DS is 2 months and BF. He sleeps one 8-hour stretch at night (usually).
