Why would one side be better than the other? This makes no sense to me. Also- doesn't make sense that sleeping on your back would cause any problems. I really feel like is going to be an old wives tales eventually.

Technically it's because it's easier for your heart to pump blood around if you're on your left. I can lay most of the night on that one and still feel my extremities, so it works better here. I cannot lay on my right for very long before I lose feeling in things. However, laying in any position for any length of time isn't comfortable. Nor is standing, nor is sitting.

Baby Jr wont let me sleep on my right side he fights me till I turn over to my back or left side
