I flip from side to side a few times during the night.  My hips hurt too much to stay in one position, so I say whatever's more comfortable!
    Yes, this!

  • Why would one side be better than the other? This makes no sense to me. Also- doesn't make sense that sleeping on your back would cause any problems. I really feel like is going to be an old wives tales eventually.

  • Technically it's because it's easier for your heart to pump blood around if you're on your left. I can lay most of the night on that one and still feel my extremities, so it works better here. I cannot lay on my right for very long before I lose feeling in things. However, laying in any position for any length of time isn't comfortable. Nor is standing, nor is sitting.

Sorry I'm too lazy to go back to quote right now, but if the thing about sleeping with something between ankles as well as knees (which is how I currently sleep) is true, I'm thinking of asking DH to duct tape my legs and ankles around pillows so nothing shifts as I move in the middle of the night.  Does this seem strange or like a genius plan?!
genius!  or just get a snoogle  ;)

  • https://www.oprah.com/health/The-Correct-Way-to-Sleep-During-Pregnancy Here's a good synopsis of the subject. Bottom line- everyone is different and it boils down to the position and size of the baby/uterus. Sleep how you feel comfortable.
