Like many of the PP, I am purging. It is amazing how much unnecessary crap was inside our bathroom cabinets! I've also decided that the living room must be redone before the baby arrives (or, really, it has to be done, I did nothing but plop crappy furniture in it when we moved 5 years ago and it wasn't very baby-friendly) and so it and the baby's room are getting painted this weekend.

I also cannot stand anything to be on the kitchen counter. Dishes washed and put away, stat! I wish I had the desire to do the baseboards, but I did get a groupon for a housecleaning and I scheduled it. woot!

I'd like to be a little more focused on LO's stuff, but I'm almost entirely focused on prepping the rest of the house instead. Hopefully after the painting I'll refocus on his stuff, since I'll finally be able to put it in his room.

  • I LOVE organizing things... I may be a little OCD in that department.  Since I am a teacher, I always have projects that I try to complete over the summer.  For example, that list usually includes scrubbing baseboards, deep cleaning blinds, paint touch-ups, washing windows, polishing kitchen cabinets, cleaning off patio, reorganizing linen closets and basement storage.  I like to keep busy in the summer so that during the school year there aren't very many projects.  DH doesn't even know what goes on behind the scenes in the summer, he just knows I work hard and everything looks great.

About 2 months ago, I made a gigantic list of everything I do in the summer (and over Christmas break, since I didn't do much this year) and we are trying to complete it before baby... I am not able to help as much as I would like because I am so uncomfortable, but DH is slowly getting there.  His first response was "You do ALL of this every year?"  YUP sure do!  It's nice to finally get a little bit of credit for all of the hard work I put in that can go unnoticed!  Plus, it will be nice to just snuggle a baby for a while instead of scrubbing on my hands and knees this summer!  He's only got a few big things left.  I am so excited to have a freakishly clean home before we have a baby to make everything crazy again!

I haven't been nesting. My house is a disaster. I still have baby things to wash and put away. We don't have a car seat yet. The crib is ready and nothing else. And honestly? If we bring baby home to a messy messy house, I'm ok with that.

I cleaned all three bathrooms in my house & threatened my husband if he messes them up before baby gets here he's on cleaning duty for the next year. I also vacuumed the whole house & swept all our wood floors. I can't bring myself to clean the wood floors bc they'll just get all smudged again in a day & I feel like my back can't take it today. Everything is picked up & relatively clean right now so if he wants to come today, I'll be fine. I wish I could maintain this level of clean until he gets here. Who knows, maybe I'll surprise myself ;)

I want to nest and am doing the best I can with what I can haha. We are still waiting for our floors to be installed so setting up any of her stuff is becoming impossible because I dont want it ruined or to get wood dust on them.. So all of her stuff is still in the boxes. Its driving me crazy!
  • After my ultrasound on Wednesday, paired with some labs and other doctor-y type stuff, my dr has officially lifted all restrictions and said this baby can come anytime now! Yeehaw! BUT, after 12 weeks on bedrest and then another 2 weeks of modified bedrest, I hit nesting mode with full on force yesterday. I've been dabbling a bit the past couple weeks (ie laundry, dishes, etc), but yesterday I was doing cabinets and closets...including my "gift bag" area, in which I found myself organizing bags by size/color/occasion. Then, I went in the garage and grabbed a plastic drawer unit I used to have in my classroom when I taught first grade, and used it to organize tissue paper by color/pattern, bows, ribbon, and gift tags. Two and a half hours later, it looked fantastic...but I'm the only person in this house who gives a flying crap. Might I add we've Iived in this house for 8 years and I've NEVER had the urge to do any of that. Ohhhhh nesting at its finest!
