Fit Mamas - start a new discussion?

I think we should start a new discussion in hopes that it'll give me some ambition. Anyone else, Once you have the ok of course, started any exercise routine? What are you doing?

Re: Fit Mamas - start a new discussion?

  • I got back into my yoga and am quite sore! Yesterday I did the elliptical at my house and here's a pic...LO woke up as soon as I put him down but I was desperate to work out.

I need to somehow get LO to remain sleeping during his naps when I put him down because this weight needs to come off so that my clothes can fit again!
  • Loading the player...
  • BTW this put LO to sleep
  • I can't wait to run again! Had a csection so waiting till 6 weeks pp, currently 4 weeks pp. When hubs gets home from work I hand him the little guy & take the dogs hiking on the trails behind out house. I'm going for an hour now & each day I manage to go a bit faster. My plan is to slowly incorporate some uphill running with the walking so by 6 weeks i can jump back into running full force!
  • I can't wait to be cleared! I have a bootcamp class that I was doing with the same group for awhile that I'm dying to get back to. Still have stitches falling out and pretty consistent bleeding though. My floor hockey team wants me back right away too. And there are a couple 5km I like to do in the summer that I'm hoping to train for. Colour runs are the best!! I highly recommend trying one if you live close to an event :)

Should we wait until everyone is closer to being cleared? I'm 6w on Monday but had a March baby...

  • Would love a fitness thread! I have started walking and would love to start doing yoga again but I'm afraid i would break open my stitches from my episiotomy (may be stupid I know since I am 2.5 weeks out).

@Yogini6911‌ -cute picture! When I was PG, riding the stationary bike or doing my elliptical would always put DD to sleep. I wish I had a treadmill because there's no way I'm getting on a bike (again, the stitches) and I don't think I have the balance to do the elliptical while holding her. Maybe when she's a little more stable I'll wear her on the elliptical. I'm sure it will knock her out!

  • Yes, this! I'm only 5 days pp but now have the energy and motivation I lacked a week ago. I want to start soon just walking at a low incline on my home treadmill before progressing to my more in depth outside runs and workouts. I like seeing what everyone does and it's great motivation.
  • I love this idea! I was cleared last week but have discovered how hard it is to find the right time! Need lo to be asleep and hubby to be home! Other than my long long walks, I did some light weights (with lo in his carrier!), and have managed to do some sit-ups. Man, were those hard! I can't wait to run!
  • I plan to do T25, and have been going for walks already. I actually feel quite good with my body PP.

Not sure I would hold my LO while riding an elliptical and taking a photo, but maybe that's just me..

1 month PP, haven't been cleared for running/hard workouts yet.

I currently walk a 5K at least three times a week.  I'm just starting to work in some other stuff with the goal of getting it to every day - lunges, push ups, and some work with the 5lb dumbbells.

  • I love this idea! When I had DD I was all into the mommy blogging and we did mcfatty Monday blog posts and it really helped to keep me accountable!

I feel like breast feeding is causing me to hold onto weight and it is so frustrating. I gained 44 pounds during pregnancy lost 16 pounds then gained 4 back! So I have been stuck at the 12 pound lost for the last two weeks.

My 6 week appointment is next Friday (6 w pp on Monday) but I have felt fine to work out, I just got back to the gym this week and am taking it slow. I still have 32 pounds to lose to get back to pre preg and 42 to get back to my usual weight.

After seeing myself in the mirror at the mall earlier this week I don't even want to go out in public anymore ugh.

  • I'm game! I've been walking with baby in the stroller and doing some body weight squat, lunges, planks, etc. I ant wait to get cleared next week!
  • Daily walks/light runs and just started with a trainer.. I have 6 weeks to get in shape or it's going to cost me a lot of money to replace all my work suits!!!!
    :( I need to shed 50 lbs
    Let's get physical!

  • I'm in the same boat as @Jessieann1020‌, I wouldn't say I am a fit mom, but I want to be. I had started to lose weight prior to this pregnancy, and am happy to be just under where I started. That being said, I still have a long way to fitness and would love the motivation.

  • Right now I am 3w PP with a csection.  Just a trip to the grocery store makes me feel like I'm being ripped in half at the incision.  So, yeah, I would love to, but I better wait a few weeks. :(

I really want to take LO on walks but I did the day before yesterday and it was sooo hot I think he overheated a bit :( he got really red and fussy. Looks like I will need to stick to early morning or late evening. Anyone else experience this?

  • Love this! I have about 20lbs to lose to get back to prepregnancy weight! I'm 3 weeks pp and have been going for light walks when the weather is nice. A gym just opened up across the street from me, so I'm hoping to get started there after I get the "ok" at my 6 week appt at the end of this month.
  • I say let's get started! Everyone is at a different point both pp and prepreganacy shape. Therefore, we all have different goals!

For me since I'm still trying to establish breastfeeding...yes, it's been five weeks of trying...I don't want to mess with it too much. My LC said light cardio and weights, but not to "try" to lose weight until we hit week eight. I'm maintaining at least 2000 calories a day filled with tons if fruit and veggies.
Hopefully, my husband will get home early enough so I can hit up my first barre class pp. I really miss my workouts.
  • I'm 4 weeks PP & when the weather's nice we go for a nice long walk. I'm anxious to be cleared for higher impact exercise though!
  • I think I'll try t25 too since I don't own any stationary cardio equipment and I can't seem to get LO to sleep with boyfriend for 30-40 min while I run! So far I've managed a 5k at a 10 min pace but it's too hot to run during the day anymore. Once she becomes a better night sleeper I want to run in the am before my boyfriend goes to work. I've just been doing simple body weight exercises thru out the day but I'm craving something more structured.

I have 5 lbs til my pp weight but I know I lost a lot of muscle weight so there's a lot more work than the scale shows to get back into shape!

I have 9 pounds until my prepregnancy weight but I'd like to loose 15. I can't wait to take up running again! I don't have a doctors appointment until six weeks pp so I still have three weeks until a possible clearance. I feel fine but I'm still bleeding anyway.

  • I was cleared for all physical activity on Monday. Yesterday I started out slow with body weight squats and some free weight arm exercises. This is incredibly light for me as I had been doing crossfit (actually a different version known As crossfit football - my husband and I were doing it together pre-pregnancy and in the early months of pregnancy) but you have to start somewhere, right? Today I took LO and the dog for a 2 mile walk, body weight squats, free weight arm exercises and I'm hoping next time LO goes down for a nap or once Daddy gets home, I can hop on the treadmill for a quick jog...try a mile or so to see how I feel.
I tried some abs today but unfortunately have a slight case of diastasis so since DS was born 4 weeks ago, I've been doing some exercises to try to correct that. I think I'm finally at a point where I can try some regular abdominal work.

I think it would be great to start this back up! I still have over 3 weeks until I'm cleared, but I am trying to go for a walk every day, and could use some motivation to eat healthier :). Once I'm cleared, I"m hoping to make some gym trips and do the treadmill/elliptical/weights. We'll also be traveling to California for part of the summer, and I can't wait to hike some of my favorite trails.

  • Did you guys know that most gyms allow babies into childcare starting at 6 weeks? I just found out and have starting shopping around for a membership!
  • We had our two week visit today. Not cleared for anything vigorous, but I'm getting back on the diet and walking bandwagon tomorrow. I'm ten pounds below my pre pregnancy weight but I'd like to lose 20 more pounds.

  • I'm in and cleared for whatever I feel up to. I have lost all my pregnancy weight but still have at least ten pounds til I'm at weight I'm happy with. Want to do it slow and smart so it doesn't interfere with my supply.

I'm with a lot of you and can't wait to start running! I'm signed up for a 10 mile in August & half marathon in October so I'm really itching to get cleared, 3 more weeks!
  • I'm in. I'm officially "cleared" however I can barely walk so.... I guess I'll be getting off to a slow start?

    imageimage
  • I cannot wait to get back to my Pilates class! The only problem is that i did not work out at all when i was pregnant so i will have to start very slow. I cannot wait to be given the go ahead. I am more excited about that than being able to have sex again.

I feel you. I am 16 days PP with a C-section and I feel like I can't even walk for very long. I want to use my eliptical again but I'm sure it will be a while before I can.

  • I was cleared to do whatever I'm comfortable with at 4 weeks pp. I started back into the 5/3/1 lifting program that week. Only doing the bar (45lbs) on most of the lifts. I added some weight in this week and did okay until dead lift day. I did a bit too much and I'm hurting now. I also tried some penguin taps and other stuff for your core. That was a bit rough on me too. Next week I'm going to start hiking and maybe light jogging or sprinting.

I'm probably going to do Jillian Michael's dvd's along with my lifting as soon as I feel up to it. It was a combination that worked for me pre-pregnancy.

I'm only 4lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. That's exciting for me because it's the lowest weight I've been since having DS. Good luck everyone!

  • Yes, I love this! Right now I'm wearing my fitbit and trying to get a pitiful 5000 steps a day (and failing most days). I would love some encouragement :). Can't wait to get back into running!
  • Just dropping by to say I'm in as well!  I just started lightly exercising again this week and I've been trying to get my diet back on track (i.e, no more nightly bowls of ice cream... rats.).  It's been hard though with so much junk food in the house!

Also, for those mamas who run, do you have any recommendations on a good, supportive sports bra/nursing sports bra?  I tried a little bit of running the other day, and I felt like my boobs were going to hit me in the face - plus, bouncing breastfeeding boobs are painful as heck!  Any suggestions?

I would love some kind of check in. I am EBF and 3 wks PP. I have restarted the My Fitness Pal app this week. I am eating 2,000 calories a day. It has been hard to get back into tracking and I have had a few cheat days already, lol, but I would love to have a group to help keep me accountable. Also, after baby #1, I altered my diet to lose my baby weight and I got to the size I wanted but still felt really soft. This time I would like to continue the MFP app but add in some exercise too so I can try to tighten and tone.

    Edit:

    Random bullets:

I'm pretty sure I was eating like 4,000+ cals. while pregnant, lol.

I gained 53 lbs. while pregnant and have lost 28lbs. from delivery and BF so far, 25 lbs to go!

  • @babym6705 I'm pretty sure I'm in the same boat as you! I actually stopped looking at the scale at my weekly OB weigh ins, but I would guess I gained about 60 lbs. I'm 20 lbs to pre preg weight & 30 lbs to be where I want. I would guess I was right around 4k calories a day too!

@kangstadt I second the request for a good sports bra recoomrndstion! Even walking I feel like these things are trying to smack me in the face! I ordered a few bras off zappos but they need to go back, apparently I don't know what size I am anymore!!
  • I'm with the other ladies on the painful boob bouncing issue! I did the 30 min shred video the other night and had to modify all the cardio since jumping jacks sent tears rolling down my face. I had on a nursing sports bra which feels supportive, but obviously not enough. Ouch!!
I went to my first barre class last night post baby....I officially have zero ab strength! I felt pretty proud though that I kept up with only a couple resets since it's been 7 weeks since my last class.
  • Go to a running store and get fitted for a bra! Personally I never bothered with a nursing one because I only wore it while I was running. Be prepared to drop at least 30 on it probably more. And obviously getting your breasts good and empty first helps. If you're less than maybe six weeks pp maybe wait on getting fitted unless it's just like s/m/l because you may still change sizes some.
