  • I just interviewed an awesome candidate for an open role on our team.  I love it when that happens.

Then, I got an invite for a parent-teacher conference w/ our 4K teacher.  I'm freaked out because the manager set up the meeting and it's 2 hours long.  I am worried one of these days they're going to kick him out for being a trouble maker.  Ugh.

  • Do you guys have Woodman's grocery stores by you, or is this just a WI thing?
If you don't have them, then you have no idea how much they suck.  They're about as big as a Costco and people mill around in them like it's the Holy Land because you can get bags of shredded cheese 3/$6 or something stupid.

Their produce is terrible, the store is always packed, even if you go at 10pm on a Thursday.  It's just idiotic.  For that reason, I won't shop there.  My BFF posted a rant on FB yesterday about how much she hates it and I agreed and said that saving an extra $10 wasn't worth it to me.  Her one upper sister had to respond with "my family of 6 saves almost 100 a month there!  It must be nice to have money growing on trees!"  Screw you dude.  I only grocery shop once a month at the "regular" store and save almost $60 a shopping trip.  For only 3 of us.  So how are you getting a better deal than I am?

I hate people like that. Just shut up, no one has money growing on trees, asshole. And she's the one that decided to have a bunch of kids so why is it your problem that she is tight on money? I avoid Costco most of the time because I hate the crowds. I only go there when I desperately need 12 giant poppy seed muffins.

I hated Woodman's. Dark, dirty, the employees weren't friendly, their produce was nasty...  Blech. Then again, I worked at Festival Foods, so I thought (and still think) that was the best store ever. Any Festis by you?

She also chooses not to work.  IDK how you're spending your money and I don't care, but don't make me feel bad because I don't want to go to the overcrowded, cheaper grocery store.  All of her kids are in school FT.  Her husband manages an Applebees.  They've walked away from 2 houses and have filed bankruptcy once in Minnesota and once in Wisconsin.  It's just so stupid.  It's just grocery shopping!!

I had to google that one. Looks fun to make with the kids sometime. Sadly, I only have brownie mix and vanilla yogurt.

I hate that stuff too.  I told DH if he ever brings that stuff home, it will not go over well.  It just seems so generic to me.

DH makes me a cute birthday video every year with the kids and he still hasn't given me one this year, my birthday was on April 19th. He was traveling a lot around my birthday and he said he just needs to finish editing. I want him to hurry the hell up and give me my present! The videos are only 2 minutes long but I love them and I'm super impatient.

I brought the boys with me to target, all we needed was diapers. I bought the box, brought it out to the car, grabbed one and went inside to change Colby. Then keagan decides he needs to pee. So he goes, then starts washing his hands, I bring Colby into the stall with me so I can pee and doesn't that little love monkey open the stall door while I'm mid-squat. Ugh.

Parent teacher conferences? or having a trouble maker?

Or was it the fact that it was basically a run on sentence without a lot of background?  (I was running between meetings and probably should have read before I posted).

Haha I was just lost altogether. You got invited to attend a parent teacher conference with another teacher (4k=?). Some manager made the meeting 2 hours. You're nervous someone is going to get kicked out (kid? 4k teacher? Manager?). I just don't know what any of it means, including 4k.

4k= kindergarten, but for 4 year olds - like pre-school right? I interpreted it to mean the parent teacher conference about B was scheduled by the meeting manager for 2 hours. She is freaking that he will get kicked out of pre-school because why else do you have a 2 hour meeting with a pre-school teacher?

I will never have a small dog again. It's the deep dark secret of most small dog owners: piss everywhere. What worked for you @mrskipper ? The freak has a doggy door with access to the back yard all day long. WTF. We shampoo our carpet every week. I just cry about it. Sometimes I sit there eating grapes and chocolate and think hmmmmmmmmmmm maybe I'll share.

    Thanks @Flamingemu for explaining!

@tinyhumantoe - It was one of those stream of conscious posts.  I didn't really clarify much - so fail on my part ;)  Yes, it was my son.  He's in 4K (pre-kindergarden) and the manager of his teacher set up a 2 hr meeting, so it kinda freaked me out.  I (hope) it's just a follow up conference on what has been working and what hasn't.  But he's been having a tough time, so I am constantly freaked out that they're going to tell me that it's too much for them to handle.  :/

  • @tinyhumantoe‌ we totally had to retrain him. When we got him as a puppy we lived on the third floor and basically just trained him to use a puppy pad. Big mistake!

When we moved into our first house we got a second dog and I think he started just marking his territory...even though we let him out a lot. And he's crate trained, so we know he's capable of holding it.

Now I'm just extra attentive to where he is in the house (he likes to sneak off and pee when we're not paying attention) and try to take him out every 3 hours when I'm home and he's not in his crate. He still has accidents every now and then but he's gotten so much better. We're moving from an all hardwood floor house to a house with mostly carpet, so I'm really hoping he doesn't regress back to piddling!

  • @kelbel527‌ I figured it was school lingo I wasn't in the know about. So now let's talk about a 2 hour meeting. That is absolutely freaking ridiculous. What on earth? Is the teacher a bit of a dipwad? I'm so sorry :( I would be worried, too. That seems like total overkill for such a young child.

@MarisaKathleen it was for a metal roof. It's usually 3-4x more than conventional asphalt shingles. The $38K was for them to do it (but we tear off the shingles already on). If we were to do it through the DIY program it's $16500. This is a roof that would literally outlive us though. It makes sense for us in that we would never need to replace it since we plan on living in this house forever. However I don't think I can stomach spending $16K. That's my new kitchen (which is way more fun!)
Dang, you must live in a hcol area. Our metal roof was like $5k. But they left the shingles on underneath. Eta- ours is sheets though. I don't think its much louder.
No we aren't in a HCOL area. I'm in the UP of Michigan hahaha. I'd save ACOL. We would need to tear off the shingles on there and then put the new metal on. The metal is metal shingles though not sheets like the older versions are. It looks awesome and lasts forever. We just don't have the $$ to pay for that, soffits, and gutters.

Agreed! @tinyhumantoe  I'm hoping she just blocked the extra time in case.  He's been on and off in his new room, some days are awesome, other days he disrupts the classroom (yelling during naptime) and the worst days, he hits someone or breaks a toy.  The really bad days aren't frequent, but they do happen.

His teacher is actually awesome considering how many kids she has and the time she takes to work with Brody...but I'm still freaked out that they're going to decide he's too much to handle.  :/
