So it seems like a lot of us are getting down with our nesting instincts lately. What are some of the things you felt like you NEEDED to organize? STMs+, any good right before labor nesting stories?
Last week I opened my freezer to get a froyo bar and immediately started ripping it apart to organize. All freezer baggies of meals go on one shelf, desserts ad snacks on another, frozen meats and veggies, yeah - you're going together - no escaping it! So freaking satisfying. Sometimes I just open it to look at how pretty all my frozen food is.
We finished off our balcony - new floors, new furniture, new plants - about 3 months ago
Touched up all our walls about 2 months ago and finished off random projects around the house
Took out all DD's baby clothes and washed the neutral pieces 3 months and under - about 1 month ago
Pack Hospital bag about a week ago
Wrap all of DD's birthday presents and make sure I have all the Frozen plates/napkins/cups for her school bday cake party. Her 3rd bday is 3 days after my due date.
Making padsicles this week.
Starting to get a little weird about keeping the house really clean, despite having a housecleaner that comes once a week.
I go in random spurts. There is not much housework I can do these days, but maybe once a week I will get into a mini "project mode." For example, I will make a bunch of nursery art or fold all the newborn clothes. Notice all of these projects are totally sedentary :-).
We've gone through and purged/donated/organized every room of the house. That we started early thank gawd because I do not have the energy to do any of that now lol.
All the baby stuff is washed and in their room, which is all painted and set up. Our room is set up for them to sleep in while they're itty bitties. Their bag is semi-packed, my bag is packed, but hubby needs to work on his.
Still need to organize the cupboard in the kitchen where I want to put the baby feeding stuff (pump, bottles, bibs, etc). I have painters tape on all the little nicks in the walls I want to repaint. Need to finish painting the changing table but it's too windy today to spray paint. Waiting till we're closer to the end to have someone come do a deep clean of the house (blinds, baseboards, carpets, etc). We also need to install the car seats and hang decorations in the nursery. I'd also like to do more freezer meals but I'm waiting for a day when I'm 1) motivated and 2) alone so hubby doesn't eat them all
Our nesting style though has been "Get Rid of All the Stuff!"
Getting the nursery organized. That's all I want to do. He won't be in there much but for my piece of mind I need it done before he gets here. Also dirty dishes bother me more than they used to. Wish H would help with that more.
Oh yeah! We've donated sooooo much stuff. I hate stuff! And I can't wait to get rid of baby stuff I've been saving from DD once this one grows out of it.
Being on bed rest and nesting is a cruel, mean joke. But I made a list for H. He's been great about checking the items off one by one... Even if it's not in the order I'd prefer...
I don't get the instinct to nest until oh...about 11PM just about every night. sucks cuz then I get extreme motivation and proceed to stay up until 2 doing crap that I should during the day.
and as for order, I painted the room a little over a year ago when we began trying to get pregnant, if that was early enough then forced DH to remove everything from his office for baby stuff and get a new desk in place of the old one. CD are all prepped and have been washed at least 4 times. same with inserts/doublers/wipes. all clothes have been washed twice, once for cleanliness and the other after the pest control people came. PNP is ready to go in the room, with sheets washed and waterproof pad set up.
is my kitchen clean? no. does the floor need to be vacuumed? yes. does the dog need a bath? yes. is LO's stuff in order? done and done four times. I see a trend...hmm.

This exactly. I watch cleaning product infomercials and have serious desire to buy every single product.
I am also in camp "Get Rid of All the Stuff" since the beginning, it is AWESOME to have space where there used to be a box of crap from my MIL of my husband's high school crap. (side note- stop bringing me moldy boxes full of crap, lady!)
This week we hired a house cleaner for the first time ever and OHMYGODILOVEITSOMUCH. What a treat.
I am in the process of re-finshing a dresser before I can complete baby area. I hope I get some more energies in the next week because right now I am a dud.
Does buying a bunch of stuff count as nesting? For some reason I have in my mind that I'm not going to be able to leave the house for months after the baby is born. I know that's ridiculous but I keep buying stuff in bulk that I would usually just make a quick trip to the store for. I also have this strange desire to make and freeze a bunch of meals. I wish my nesting style was to clean and organize but I'm not really getting that one.
My nesting has been making things for baby or her room...being on mod-bed rest & DH working 12-14 hours a day, isn't helping cause I'm bored out of my mind!! I would love to scrub the floors/baseboards & get on a ladder to clean the upper cabinets in the kitchen. Before this LO comes I'm going to have to figure out the cleaning thing, cause there is ALOT of it to be done.

Last pregnancy I worked at my church nursery and they would always make fun of me for obsessively organizing the snack cabinet.... Then eating all the snacks haha. This time around I'm so round and my belly is so low I can barely do anything so it comes in spurts. So far I have cleaned out my daughters whole closet so we can put the crib in there. Now I need another spurt so I can finish organizing all the things I took OUT of the closet ;p
I have been crazy deep cleaning our apartment once a week. I bought drawer and cupboard organizers for the bathroom and completely organized in there. Our closet is totally organized. Baby's room is ready to go, with all clothes/blankets/diapers washed. Oh, and I have completely bought all of amazon.
Aaaah I'm so jealous of all of you who are almost done. We haven't had our "shower" yet, so I haven't really been able to do much. We're also still waiting for our dresser to come in...we found out today that it was shipped to the wrong warehouse, so it's been uber delayed, we should have had it weeks ago.
I have made lists for DH, but most of it is outside stuff. We replaced our fence, planted flowers in the previously naked flower beds, the pool is open but not yet clean, yard has been fertilized and seed is down in the bald spots...we still need new gutters because the previous homeowners left us yet another homeowner-special and installed gutters that are much too small for the house and they spill over even with the littlest bit of rain, and we also want to replace our shutters - they're a lovely shade of NY Jets green (puke!) plus you can tell they're old and cracked. We also have the base of a flag pole attached to one of our windows, but it's so rusted that there's no way to get it off without destroying part of the window frame, so maybe we should just hide it by actually putting a flag in there haha. As for inside the house, there wasn't too much to do other than the baby's room, which, as I said can't really get finished until after the shower and I actually have stuff to put in it and/or know what I still need to buy. Our shower is the 17th and my last day of work is the 23rd, so hopefully LO stays put and I have time to go shopping and get organized once I'm home. The only thing that we did do is organize our closets - we both have walk-ins and it's easy to let them get messy if you don't keep up with hanging everything up everyday. I should probably also make room in the freezer for frozen meals and breast milk, but we need to eat some stuff before I can make room. Otherwise, our house is the state it's going to be in a for a while. I'd like to renovate our main bathroom, but that requires, you know, money. I have a cleaning lady come every other week, so she takes care of the "everyday" type stuff like dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing the kitchen and bathrooms, etc., so it's nice that I won't have to worry about that even once I'm not working anymore. It's the one thing that I still treat myself to each month.
I also haven't even started packing my hospital bag, which I probably should since I made my first trip to L&D last week. But, again, there are a few things that I still need but waiting to see if we get before I go out and purchase anything. Grrrr darn me and insisting on waiting for my shower because I wanted it to be outside! :-)
OH! I have been working on LO's baby book! Well, the pregnancy portion of it anyway! I'm having so much fun with it already, I can only imagine how nuts I'm going to be recording things once baby is actually here!

katekat8721 We totally did that, too, but we did it before I was even pregnant! We had a huge 2-weekend garage sale between ER and FET back in September and made $1300! Everything that wasn't sold was either donated or tossed. It was nice to clean out! Purging is so invigorating haha.

Well I've been putting off nesting only because we're moving next weekend. It's been REALLY hard resisting the urge. Especially since I feel like such a slacker seeing as how I had everything done by this time with my last pregnancy. So I'm sure once next weekend rolls around, nesting will take effect, full force lol my goal is to have everything 100% done and ready by June 1st.
The car is finally clean. I've been trying to get DH to help me empty it out for a while now and now that it is decided that he's getting the new one and I'm taking the older one I kicked all his crap out (though now it's sitting in a box in my house waiting to be dealt with by him). I found things in the trunk from over 3 years ago. I just need to vacuum it up and she'll be like new.
I've got a pile of things that need to make it to Goodwill, but I've not gotten them there because I'm convinced I'll just find more to donate once I start packing.
Most of my current nesting revolves around just making sure things are getting done and planning for our move. It's hard to nest when DH isn't on board to help with chores or keep things organized and when we are facing a move. Apparently "Because I said so and it makes me feel better" isn't a valid reason for why he should keep things in my new organized manner.
My nesting style is more along the lines of accomplishing things around and outside our house so I won't need to deal with them after baby arrives. Our new patio has been built and completed (I had to do all the coordinating of that and stay on the builders so it would be done in time for my shower), patio furniture is ordered and I will assemble it when it arrives next week, gardens are all weeded, mulched, and planted, landscaping done, nursery/master bedroom/master bathroom have all been painted in the last 3 months or so, nursery major items have been assembled, carpets throughout the house were replaced, and the only other glaring thing I need to do is hang up the pictures I have set aside for my dining room gallery wall. Oh and buy a dresser and lamp for the nursery.
As far as cleaning/organizing, that's my next step. I need to wash everything, organize all the baby clothes, rewash the bassinet (because my damn cats keep sneaking into it!), and deep clean the house.
My goal was to have the nursery complete by end of march, it was fine in February. All the baby clothing has been washed and put away. The hospital bags have been packed and repacked twice now.
Now I'm on to the big stuff. Kitchen remodel is well underway and so is the bathroom. Not much I can do in that arena other than pressure the contractor to get it done. Once they clear out this house will need a major deep cleaning to remove the dust. Hoping they are done soon so lo can come home to a quiet clean house.

I'm going through the worst Stress/Anxiety spell... We are getting new carpets in Our room the babies room my hall my stairs and the living room on the 17th... These rooms are completely torn apart. A hurricane of shit has made its way through my entire house. The overflow has now ended up in my dining room and kitchen. I have 4 baskets of clean laundry in my kitchen.. Also found mice soooo my cabinets are emptied out, traps are set and the pot and pans have now found a home with the laundry...... IM LOSING MY MIND. All i want to do is clean and get the house ready and i cant do a god damn thing.
I felt the need to organize my utensil drawer. Because you know every baby needs a well-organized utensil drawer.
Other than that, I have mostly just been obsessed with keeping the kitchen counter clean. We have a tiny kitchen and lately I cannot stand it when random crap is on the counter. Even stuff like the blender. NO ITEMS ALLOWED.
