Tomorrow is our school's track and field day for SD's age group. She loves it and looks forward to it every year. She was in flag football last year and quite likes throwing around a football with DH. She really wanted to participate in the football throw even tomorrow, but she was told by the school she wouldn't be allowed since she is a girl. I mean, it's just throwing a football, so why can't she participate?

Re: I'm slightly pissed right now
Of course that's NY and high school, I don't know about your state
Who said that, though? Her teacher?
Could you call the principal?
Your poor sd.
Ok im done being pissy haha
If the boys have the option of throwing a football AND a baseball, that's really fucked up.
edit: I'm just trying to assess the level of fuckery happening there.
I'm furious for her.
How does a vagina mean you can't throw a football?
Why isn't everyone competing in any event they want?
My parents were good parents. I could talk to them about anything. They loved and supported me. They'd go out of their way to be there for me. They'd go out of their way to be there for my friends.
But when the school did something terribly unfair and really shitty to me? They kind of shrugged and said I'd leave soon and it wasn't worth the fight because the school wouldn't change. And they probably wouldn't have, and at the time it made sense... But it hurt. And it still hurts that it was so unfair and my parents didn't do anything.
