No! I wasn't supposed to ovulate for two more days!!

So I'm having some pain and popping sensations in my left ovary and I'm freaking out that it's ovulation pain since my IUI isn't until Thursday morning.  When I went in for monitoring yesterday (CD12) I had two leading follicles, one on the left and one on the right.  There were two smaller ones on my left, which is my good side, so the nurse decided to delay trigger and IUI by one day to give them a chance to catch up.  She did not think I would ovulate before Thursday based on the size and clarity(not sure what she meant by that) of my follicles.

So here I am on CD13, sitting at work convinced that I am ovulating at this very moment, without the option of testing until I get home at 8pm tonight.  Of course this is the cycle I decided to just relax and not do any testing and just rely on the monitoring appointments.  What the eff was I thinking?!  I'm just so pissed at myself for not testing and today is going to be one long day as I sit here wondering if what was supposed to be my first IUI isn't going to happen.

    How big were your follicles?  I get pinches and pains all the time and convince myself I'm ovulating but I never do.  Maybe you could go in for another ultrasound to be sure?

    There have been some medicated cycles when the O pains start early and/or linger around a while after O.  So I definitely understand your concern, but I wouldn't go into panic mode just yet.  If your follies were not too big and depending on your E2/P4 levels, they may have known you weren't going to ovulate quite yet.

    Maybe see if you can go in to monitor tomorrow, assuming it wouldn't cost too much and you still want the peace of mind?

    I start having o pains days before I actually ovulate. Hopefully that's all it is, Good luck!

    I suppose that info would be helpful wouldn't it?  The leading two were 15 and 16 while the smaller two were 11 and 12.

    Whew - it's a relief to hear that O pain can start a couple of days before actual O.  I'll just keep my fingers crossed that's what's going on.  If timing doesn't work out this cycle I'll consider it a lesson learned and will never not test again!

    I was just gonna add too that O pains can start as you prepare for ovulation but before actually doing so, so Thursday is probably still really good timing!

    Me: 32  DH: 33  Married: March 2004

    July 2006: started TTC
    2008: HSG (normal), couple rounds of clomid through gyno
    2008 - 2010: dragging my feet out of fear and procrastination
    October 2010: first consultation with RE, dx PCOS and fibroids (DH slightly low count/motility)
    Oct. 2010 - Dec. 2012:  In DENIAL! avoided the issue because I was scared of surgery
    January 2013: returned to RE, fibroids grew significantly
    February 2013: second HSG, fibroids pushed on tubes which blocked them somewhat
    March 2013: MRI to determine what type of surgery may be necessary
    July 29, 2013: fibroids (5) removed via robotic laparascopy
    August 2013 - Nov 2013 : benched due to recent surgery

    IUI #1, Dec. 24, 2013, BFN 
    IUI #2, Jan. 25, 2014, BFN
    IUI #3, Feb. 25, 2014  BFN
    IUI #4 canceled due to lack of response to letrozole
    IUI #4.1 April 28, 2014, BFN
    May 16, 2014: wtf consult, start prepping for IVF in June and add injects for one last IUI in the meantime
    IUI #5 started letrozole and bravelle but canceled after HSG led to new diagnosis
    May 21, 2014: third HSG, tubes blocked, one at the beginning, one hydrosalpinx??
    June 11, 2014: consult, approved to move on to IVF because the hydro is not completely blocked therefore allowing fluid to move through slowly rather than backwards
    IVF #1 August 8, 2014 - 3dt of 2 embryos, BFN
    September 17, 2014 - 4th HSG, the right tube is very patent (open!!) dye went straight through this time. Weird!
    October 2, 2014 - started metformin treatment
    November 14, 2014 - blood work, brought A1C down from 5.8 to 5.5
    November 26, 2014 - RE finally back from vaca and reviewed my chart, no more IVFs for rest of calendar year
    December 1, 2014 - Right after Thanksgiving, I called a new clinic and got in right away! Plan for IVF
    December 17, 2014 - ER! 29 retrieved (!!), 16 mature, all 16 fertilized (ICSI)
    IVF #2 December 20, 2014 - 3dt of 3 embryos, BFN

    We are done with treatment unsuccessfully. :(

    I'm sorry, that sounds like a very difficult day to get through!

    It it helps at all, I've definitely had O pains a day or two before, during, or a day or so after O, based on confirmed temps. And from what I've read, that is common! Good luck. I hope your IUI ends up timed just right. :)
