I agree that it is inconvenient if all the car buggies are taken (whether by a single or two kids), but there's no rule, law, etc. saying a single kids can't use them. Sorry.
You know what is something to get pissed off about? Target leaving their double buggies outside, so I can't go there for like 2 days after it rains unless I use a boring regular cart.
So y'all never double cart? Way easier than cart and stroller, IMO.
How does one push two carts at the same time? Urban grocery shopping is shitty enough with one cart.
Nevermind, I am not urban.
That part was mostly irrelevant. I just hate grocery shopping, because the aisles are narrow and the place is always packed with people. I'm on my way there now and am dreading navigating the place.
The cart is clearly designed for 2 kids. That's the purpose. I don't think I'm being entitled at all. My 18-month-old should have to ride in the basket(which is unsafe, btw) and be crowded by all the groceries so that your (general you) preshus can sit in a double cart?
There were 2 of 2 expectant mother spots open. Should I have parked in one b/c it's first come first served and how am I supposed to know if a pregnant woman is coming after me? Um, no. They're intended for expectant mothers so that's who should use them. Same with the carts.
This makes you sound like an entitled Witch. Why do you want to punish a little kid because they like the car carts?
Yeah, there's no way I could push 2 carts or a stroller and cart. It's a madhouse in there 24/7. I've tried going first thing and it's actually worse.
I did say I realize it's a silly thing to be pissed about. Still think it's not cool. Obviously we'll have to agree to disagree. With that, I'm going to go study.
two of our three grocery stores don't even have the car carts, and the one that does, it's the double seat behind the cart. I have never seen the single car in front of cart before.

I curse the dickface that invented car carts. I have to push my nieces in them because it's the only 2 seater Kroger has. It's like trying to drive a fucking Winnebago through a safety course. No. Never again. All stores should only have boring 2 seaters like Sams Club.
I didn't know there was grocery store etiquette beyond stay in your lane, don't hit the person in front of you, and keep the number of items in check at the express lane.. must have missed the memo.
though I live in an area where you have to give a quarter to rent your cart and get it back when you return, in our local store they have a few carts with infant seats that buckle the infant in and you don't have to pay the quarter - I totally side eye the mother f'ers that take them bc they don't have a quarter and don't want to get one.

I think most people that shop at my local Publix didn't get this memo. I'm constantly having to wait on people to move because they'll park their buggy on one side and stand next to it (blocking the entire aisle) and just stare trying to figure out what they want for 5 minutes.
My son was an only child for 6 years and I never would let him use the double carts because i didn't want to take a cart someone else needed for their two kids. So I understand where you are coming from. Its more of a common courtesy thing, for me at least.
Whoa whoa whoa OP. I hope you don't mean the cart that has two seats up in front and the two seats inside the car. Because those fit four kids and are obviously intended only for families with at least four children.
EDIT: Sorry if I was beaten, only skimmed the thread
So, I'm a jerk I guess. I have one kid and she will flip her shit and demand to be carried if we don't get the stupid car cart (she's 3). When there are none available, I talk her down (bribes) but if there is a car cart, you better believe I am using it.

I wish we had the little mini carts for kids at my stores. Then I wouldn't have to push to goddam car cart around, knocking stuff over all over the place.
I never realized there were so many different kinds of car carts. We have 4 grocery stores in town and I have only seen a car cart at one store one time but our town is kind of anexample oof this is why we can't have nice things...so that might be it.
I am really freaking busy, unfortunately. Life is getting in the way of my interwebz, which is, like, the worst FWP ever. Perhaps even more than someone taking the double cart.

When DD was little, I don't remember car carts being around in our area. It was a dark time for parents of 2+ children. They had no way of purchasing food.
If there was no cart--there was no cart. It never dawned on me to look around and see how much more deserving I was of a cart. You make due with what you got, you plan and bring the double because the store has limited carts, or you wait for one. Or you do a myriad of other options other than make excuses for acting like a brat.

It also never occurred to me that these carts should be reserved for people with more than one kid.
One time I bumped into a guy when I was driving that cart because I suck, and he said, "Oh, I get it, he's the one driving."
