I put my daughter straight into the crib in her room. I will do the same with this one.
I thought of this too. But I'd feel much more comfortable with baby next to me in case of emergency. If baby throws up or something I can hear it and tend to it ASAP to avoid choking etc.

I was terrified of DS choking on his on vomit when he was a newborn since they tell you to put them on their backs. Turns out, as long as they are on their backs, it is very unlikely to happen because their windpipe is below their trachea that way.
This link explains it a little better. Just thought I'd share because, like I said, this was a huge fear of mine!
ETA: Sorry, not sure what's up with the quote box.
With DS, we had a pack n' play with the bassinet attachment beside our bed. Made night feedings easier when I didn't have to go anywhere but the rocking chair beside that. However, with a small house and DS in a big boy bed now the crib has nowhere else to be but our room so it will be the same situation basically but more cramped.
Re: When bringing the baby home which do you prefer...Bassinet or crib?
