November 2014 Moms

Don't flame me I'm just being

honest....so this is our last pregnancy. We have 2 boys and I'm not going to lie, both DH and I were hoping for a girl. I found a sonogram picture from last week with a pretty good view of the angle of the dangle. I posted it on www.in-gender.com and everyone is saying boy. Of course we are going to love and adore this baby but I'm feeling a little....not bummed I don't know the word. I was having visions of American girl dolls, sparkly clothes and getting our nails done together and it just doesn't look like that's going to happen for me. I'm not devastated or anything but I am wondering how accurate the angle of the dangle is? I'm attaching the picture.

Re: Don't flame me I'm just being

  • i'll see what my sonographer mom says if she is around.

I'm not sure- but I think what you're feeling is totally understandable. Good luck! And remember nothing like that is ever positive. Good luck! I'll be thinking of bows for you :o)
  • I feel the same way- I'm kinda hoping for a boy this time. Even though another girl would probably be cheaper with hand me downs and all.

I'm not sure how accurate the angle of the dangle is but i have heard many stories of people being told wrong at this point. If your sonographer didn't venture a guess I definitely would t take what that forum says too seriously.

  • @Melak728‌ my sonographer said she doesn't make guesses that early because she could be wrong. I go back on the 14th and I'm going to try to get it out of my Dr then.
  • i totally understand i feel like it's only normal to want to experience both a girl and boy. i would love one of each but who knows what the future hold. i always thought i'd want boys but now that i'm pregnant i find myself secretly wanting a girl and being so caught off guard by that. i would be truly trilled with either but it's my first i might feel differently for my second.

  • I completely understand hoping for a girl. I have one boy, am hoping for a second boy, and then a girl after that. How's that for picky? :)
I had only first heard of the angle of the dangle a few weeks ago, so I do not know very much about it. I would guess that it is probably difficult to get a good assessment from a single still photo, so I would guess you have good chances either way.

  • Nothing wrong with having a preference! I want a boy this time because I'd love one of each and I know this will be our last. If we find out it's a girl, I may be bummed but it'll last all of about 5 seconds. I'm sure you'll feel the same if you find out it's a boy.

I also know nothing about angles & dangles.

Aww no flames here! This is my third and everyone is hoping for a boy. We find out in a couple weeks. I don't know if I'll be disappointed, it took almost 3 years to concieve this one. However, I would LOVE to experience life with a boy! As far as angle of the dangle nothing is 100%!

  • Thanks ladies I kinda felt like an ass posting this after the scare from the 5ths disease. Was hoping no one was like "OMG be happy your baby is heathy you idiot" which I would have understood if someone had said that because I am saying that to myself.

I know exactly how you feel. Except I want another girl. If it's a boy, I will be disappointed but I know once the baby is here I won't care and will love him or her with all my heart. There was a post yesterday about the angle and it said straight was girl and 30 degree angle is boy. It looks like a girl to me!!

No flaming here! I'll think pink!

I'm at my NT scan now, I'm nervous they will say something about the sex of the baby and I'll be like whattttttt

But I do find out in 10 days thank you to being old

  • My Granny had three boys. The first 2 were 2 years apart, then the third was born 5 years after the second (7 year age range from oldest to youngest). Everyone wanted her to have a girl, but she had a third boy. Her philosophy on it was "God gives you what you can handle." She was a women capable of raising three boys and that is what she had, and she says she wouldn't have trade her youngest boy for a girl ever.

The surprise: the first grandchild she had was a girl (me!), so she still got to experience girlie things.

  • No flames here. I was also hoping for a girl, but for different reasons. My son is on the spectrum and the chances of a similarly affected sibling are significantly lower is the sibling is a girl. I almost didn't even want to find out the sex of this baby, because I knew that if it was a boy, I'd spend the next 3 years worrying if he too was affected. But honestly, boy or girl, I'm going to worry regardless. And when I let the news sink in, I also thought about how nice it would be for my son to have a little brother (my son is very, very mildly affected, and does well with NT peers--he's doing wonderfully, and we're so blessed). I'd like to hope he will always have a playmate and best friend in his little brother. I also pray that this new baby doesn't face the challenges that his brother has faced, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. I just try to stay positive and hope for the best.

I am 42, and this will be my last baby--thus far, everything has been healthy and test results are great, and for that, I'm truly thankful. I am a little sad that I will not have a little girl, as I always wanted to have a girl (I love All Things Pink and Girly), but if this is what The Big Guy wants for me, I have to believe it will all be for the best. There's a lot of praying going on this way!

  • It definitely normal to feel that way. I have both a boy and girl. When pregnant with the DD I wanted a boy first ( I guess he would if been the 2nd male protector to my future girl in my eyes) I ended up having DD and to tell you the truth that feeling went away as soon as I held her in my arms. Now I have boy & girl so I'm excited for whatever ! Secretly wanting another girl tho lol I think it's a woman thing. Good Luck! I have no real idea on the dangle angle thingy lol but crossing fingers for you to see bows!!!!
  • I'll think pink for you if you think pink for me :) I don't have a preference but my husband desperately wants a girl to spoil.

  • @lizzielu82‌ that was really funny!!!
  • I think its totally normal. My aunt had three boys and they tried again for a girl. Yup, she had another boy. My mom said my aunt cried pretty hard and was upset when they found out, but I think you come to terms with it and get excited for the future.

  • sonographer mom also believes this looks to be a boy. she doesn't give 100% certainty with any of her thoughts though at this stage, so there's always room for change.

  • Thanks for having her look @carcrashheart‌
  • I totally get it. I have a boy and my angel we lost was a girl. I was sooooo excited. Now after losing her I also lost all those hopes and dreams of a girl. I'm worried I'll be bummed if this one isn't a girl. Of course I'll get over it quickly and just want it healthy bla bla bla..... But I want my girl damn it! ;)

  • @kristy774 I'm honestly so confused about this whole angle of the dangle theory.  Clearly, I am not the person to ask because I think it looks like a girly angle.  haha :-)
