Sawyer - boy or girl?

We're Team Green, due at the end of the month, but doctor says could be anytime now! Still discussing boy names. We had discussed Sawyer but I've seen people use it on girls. Boy or girl name? What do you ladies say? Full name would be Sawyer Patrick. What does everything think?

Thanks ladies! Sounds like a boy name to me too! But I also know of 2 adorable little girls with the names of Cooper and Logan. I definitely don't understand this latest trend.

Believe me, we don't either. Sawyer is all boy, and I love it.

I've seen it on a boy and a girl, I think it sounds fine on both. I didn't see the boy Sawyer and think "ew that's a girl's name" or vice versa. Sawyer Patrick is a great name!

Thus, current usage is still solidly masculine, though it is trending toward unisex. Also, general popularity is surging.

I am meh on boy names for girls though.

It's a boy name, although I personally wouldn't use it. I just hate the idea of boys and girls having the same names so I rule out all the boy names that are going to the girls. Sad face.

A sawyer can be either a boy or a girl, depending on whether you are referring to a male or female saw operator. :P

Is that where Sawyer came from? Someone who saws? Never knew that - it's a last name in my family. It sounds all last name to me, but if I had to choose boy or girl, I'd say boy! (but I do know a 7 yr old girl named Sawyer with a little sis Peyton).

Yes, a sawyer is one who saws. It's a last name derived from a profession.
