Intro and solids question for MSPI

Hello, ladies! Ds is 7.5 months, diagnosed with MSPI at two weeks old with bloody stools and projectile vomiting. He is bf with the exception of one bottle of formula (pur amino) every few days. He is pretty sensitive to soybean oil and lecithin. I haven't intentionally done a trial, but a month or so ago, accidentally had two bites of a cheese tamale. He got so dehydrated from vomiting that he was almost hospitalized, so I won't be doing that again for a while. So, my question is about startling solids. We have an appointment with the pedi GI again but not for a month and he seems to be having some textural aversions so I'd like to start soon. I gave him one tbs of earths best rice cereal and it caused a night of horrible gas and diarrhea the next day. A week later, I tried sweet potato purée mixed with pur amino. He got maybe 1/8 or a teaspoon in before he was gagging but then had diarrhea that night and the next day. I tried sweet potato agin two weeks later with the same result. So, my question is when you started your babies on solids and what did you feed them? Sorry this is so long! Thanks for your time!

Re: Intro and solids question for MSPI

  • Thanks! Did you just see a regular allergist or do you have to call to find one who is knowledgable about food intolerances?

  • My GI was always more helpful with intolerances. I followed wholesomebabyfood.com for recommended ages to start certain foods. I think is started with pears and similar stuff to pp.
