Welcome! It's time to check-in for those of use dealing with MFI on our TTC journey. Fill us in on any updates!
We welcome everyone but mostly we are dealing with low count, motility, morphology or all three. Male infertility is a mysterious world filled with questions no one, including REs, urologists, acupuncturists or anyone else seem to have the answers to.Any treatment suggested is a coin toss for success and a 3 month wait for a fresh batch of swimmers. Most of us are told the only answer is IUI or IVF w/ICSI.The purpose of this group is to support each other through shared experiences and to share any info we can because the more informed we are the better. We will have a check in every other Thursday/Friday. Welcome and baby dust to all!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Anyone new, please intro w/name (if you want), MFI issues and where you are in your curent cycle! Thanks!
HUGS TO ALL THAT NEED THEM FX TO ALL IN TWW!!
Any questions for the ladies in our group.. don't hesitate!!
QOTW: What are some healthy lunch & dinner meals that your DH actually likes?

Re: **MFI Check In** (sorry so late)** this is the old one!!
I am CD2 in my last IUI cycle, baseline scan is tomorrow. I'm sure I will be doing Femera and Follistim. By the time our IUI rolls around my DH should be around 3 months from starting Fertile Aid and Coq10. So hopefully it will have made a difference.
QOTW: My hubby really likes baked asparagus w/ olive oil, salt, pepper. He also loves a whole chicken roasted in the crock pot w/ verde salsa. Its so easy and soo good!

DH eating something healthy?! He's the pickiest eater. That makes cooking for my needs and his tastes very difficult. He loves pb&j (not the over processed kind and with real sugar). He likes baked chicken with herb seasoning, green beans, peas, corn on the cob, rice, and scrambled eggs. He also likes a good steak (beef or bison). Or even a bowl of rice crispy cereal. Other then that he's not what I would consider a healthy eater.
Still in the midst of testing cycle. DH has SA this week, and it's funny how being told we *can't* makes us really *want* to!
DH is a trained chef, but if he had his way, his diet would be 90% meat. He's started drinking whole milk by the gallon; he thinks it is good for his swimmers and he also says it can save money compared to meat for when we have a baby, haha!
He likes to make himself soups and stirfries with mushrooms, tofu, leeks, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, etc. He also eats oranges and clementines by the bagful. Right now, the only girl's name he likes is Clementine.
I just put in the garden this weekend so very soon he'll be getting lots of fresh herbs and veggies.
I just want to say, it's tough to deal with MFI! It's such a nebulous place. Sometimes I wish we could take a peek into the future, because I feel like someday modern medicine must have a better handle on sperm production. Good luck to all of us!
I hate my clinic.
QOTW: husband will eat most things except fruit. Our favorite healthy meal is mustard salmon. So easy just mustad on salmon bake for 20 mins.
I am vegetarian (nearly vegan) and, though DH is not vegetarian, we are both healthy eaters. I love to cook, so I like to think that I'm pretty good at it; so DH will eat pretty much anything I make - aside from a kale smoothie - LOL. He particularly loves roasted vegetables, especially Brussels sprouts.
I just wish that he would cut back on the beer, as I'm worried that it is hurting his motility.
ME: 34, Atypical PCOS (lean, no O without meds) + unexplained; DH: 33, mildly low motility
09/2012: Start TTC after stopping NuvaRing. No cycles seemed to occur.
01/2013 - 05/2013: Tried Provera to "jumpstart" cycles. No luck.

03/2014: Clomid 100mg - no big follies on 1st round, 2nd round prescribed; One mature follie, Ovidrel, IUI #3 completed, Crinone - BFN
04/2014-05/2014: Letrozole 5mg + Ovidrel HG to prep for IUI #4 switched to TI, Crinone - BFN
05/2014-06/2014: Letrozole 5mg; one mature follie, Ovidrel, IUI #4.1 completed, Crinone - BFN

09/2014-10/2014: IVF Prep - Insurance requires IUI #6; Letrozole 5mg - no big follies 1st round, 2nd round prescribed; IUI #6, Crinone - BFN
11/2014: "Break" - Letrozole 5mg to cycle before prepping for IVF - successfully O'ed, but BFN
12/2014: Extending 'break' one more Letrozole-only TI cycle for mental health break - BFN

PAIF/SAIF Welcome.
We have our second (since DH started clomid) SA Friday, and then we meet with our RE Monday to see what he says about the results. We are hoping to be able to attempt an iui, but if not we will be doing ivf with icsi. As far as supplements my dh is taking L-carnitine, Coq10, antioxidants, and a multivitamin for men.
My DH eats whatever I cook for dinner. I make a lot of chicken and always serve some kind of fresh vegetable. He likes asparagus, zucchini, and broccoli, so we do a lot of those on a regular basis. He is also a fan of salmon, but I am not. He used to eat pretty unhealthy for breakfast and lunch, but he has started to eat better. He eats more salad and fruit as long as I have it on hand. He has definitely had to cut back on alcohol because of MFI. Our uro says to limit yourself to 4 drinks per week, and he also recommends lots of fruit and vegetables.
TTC #1 January 2009
January 2010 SA results: Count 16 million, Motility 40%, Morphology 2%
January 2010- Surprise BFP! DS born 10/1/2010
January 2013 TTC #2
September 2013 Repeat SA: Count= 1.7 million, Motility= 24%, Morphology= 2%
November 6th 1st Appointment with RE: diagnosed with severe MFI
Testing to try to determine a cause & possible treatment for MFI
CD 3 blood work for me. RE does not want to repeat my HSG/lap at this point,
but may want to before moving forward with any fertility treatments.
After seeing the uro, DH is currently taking lots of supplements and clomid to try to boost his count. We will have a repeat SA in February to see if it works.
Follow up SA numbers are: Count= 4 million, Motility= 40%, Morphology= 1%
Uro wants us to have another follow up SA 5/9 to see if we see further improvement than we are back to the RE to make a game plan.
SA 5/9/2014 Count: 12 Million, Motility: 60%, and Morphology 2%. We will be doing iui #1 in late June
IUI #1 6/28 clomid + ovidrel, post wash count 3 million total sperm= BFN
IUI # 2 7/21 clomid+ ovidrel. post wash count 900,000 total sperm= BFN
IVF planned for early November- cancelled due to cyst
December IVF #1- 22 eggs, 20 mature,16 fertilized
12/9 Transferred 1 4AA Blast, 6 frosties
*****Everyone is welcome******
According to the dr. all my levels and testing are great which makes for ' an excellent prognosis for egg production' Whoop, I guess. Doesn't matter how great of an egg maker I am with the MFI.
We're also waiting on the results of my counsyl genetic testing.
We've pretty well decided that we will be doing Natural IVF but I'm hoping that perhaps we can add a little clomid in there to try and get a few more eggs, though I have no clue how that will work for me, since I've never been on it.
Hopefully we'll have more info and a concrete plan after monday.
DH had to change his diet significantly after the diabetes diagnosis, but one of the new favorites would be steak and a big ole bag of broccoli.
Me: 27 Dh: 35 Testing Begins 3/5/13
Six SA's show DH has low numbers across the board = severe MFI
Genetic testing for me = MTHFR+, also carrier for blood clotting disorder Otherwise all else normal
Dh's karotype= Normal!!
