I always wonder like our 2 must-not-be-named priors. It just seems lame that they can dish the flaming but as soon as it gets returned they run off.
To my boys: I will love you for you Not for what you have done or what you will become I will love you for you I will give you the love The love that you never knew
I've been flamed before and felt like running away, but I stayed. It was early on, and I was an idealistic pregnant FTM who was overly judgey of everything and didn't understand the etiquette on here.
Personally, it depends on what a poster gets flammed for (obviously there are some things that cross a ling), but in general I respect someone for sticking around. I mean, look at Hav! We've let her have it so many times and she just keeps going, haha - and we love her! It's all forgotten (or at least forgiven) pretty quickly I've found.
When I first came to this board, I asked some pretty silly (stupid?) questions because I had a distorted view of my "duties" as a SAHM. I got flamed several times. Not enough to scare me off though! I laugh when I think back on the things I asked about!
I think it would depend on the offense. If I made a mistake I would probably apologize and try to move forward. People screw up all the time and I am perfectly capable of putting my foot in my mouth too. If it was clear the board really didn't want me to stick around (like was clear with one person I know of in the past), I would leave.
I think getting flamed for one thing is nbd. If you're getting flamed regularly for different issues then it probably means the board isn't a good fit.
It doesn't bother me if 90% of you don't agree with my POV. It's boring when everyone agrees and I'd prefer to offer a dissenting opinion than be all OMG ME TOO GUYS!!!
This board is so much more conservative than my own community, so I fully expect to be flamed from time to time.
Errr, I don't recall that I've ever really been straight up flamed? Unless people say it in their head and not to me. But no, I wouldn't leave. Shit happens. Sometimes 'we' say stupid things. I'm not that easy to get rid of (deepest apologies to you all)
Again? I thought we beat the "where's she go?" Horse to death already? I'd stick around, but I am too much of a conflict avoider to make a stink about much.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

The board is conservative? Wut? That is weird coming from gun in the rocking chair person.
Guns in diaper bags are totally different, though.
I'll just say this about that, if he were pulling his weight with their " guys" I'd have no problem at all with him not having another job. That's a sweet life to get to spend so much time with your family. And not easy work to take care of two adults. And if they didn't need more money, great!! But that's a lot if ifs that we don't know about.
Who were her "guys" anyway? I tried to figure it out. Was she a social worker who take care of people with special needs? Or family members maybe? I did get the feeling they lived with her. Just curious! I lurked a lot in the winter and got more active with posting just before she disappeared. Yes, I know why. She seemed conservative...

They were people with special needs who the state paid to live with her. She took care of them. made dinner, brought them to appointments, etc.

I live in a very liberal community. I don't know a single person IRL who goes to church or has conservative political views. And yes, this board is ultra-conservative compared to the other parents I know regarding extended RF, safety, vax issues, and basically every other controversial topic.
Which is part of the reason I enjoy this board/participate. If I wanted to know what the hippies thought, I'd just go ask them.

Oh. Well what sense to you mean it in?
When it comes to issues of parenting, this board tends to be more cautious and concerned of safety than people I know IRL

And yet you started by saying it's politically conservative..I think that's why people are confused.

Sure. I didn't realize it would be confusing to use one word in more than one sense of it's meaning.
I'm not equating political conservative with people who take extra measures of caution, or rather, average measures of caution with their children or other important decisions.
I've been flamed here and there, maybe nothing bad enough to really be called flamed, but it would depend what it was. If it happened enough that I felt I was very disliked, of course I'd leave. I like this board but if I stopped enjoying it, I wouldn't see a reason to continue participating.

It depends on what I'm flamed for. Most stuff, eh, I don't really care. Stuff that I tell only a few people about and then the board knows and say shitty things about me, then I care.

My family says: RF until you feel like it and vaxing is optional.
I don't mean liberal/conservative in the political sense.
