TTC After a Loss

AW: My RE tattletailed to my OB

I shall start with a quick back story.

Ever since my D&C on Jan 21 I've had sporadic bleeding and cramping. At one point it was consistent enough for me to think AF arrived. And I marked my temp chart as such and moved on. At my post op appt. I told my OB that I still was bleeding a little - he was not concerned. Before I went to see the RE, I emailed my OB and told him I was still bleeding sometimes - still not concerned. My OB did not follow my beta's down.

A week ago I started going to an RE. He just so happened to know my OB personally. I had blood work drawn at my first RE appt. The results showed I still had HCG in my system after 14 weeks post D&C.
image

RE office said do another blood draw Ras... so I did. Anyone up for guessing??
Yep, 15 weeks post D&C my HCG was still 55.
image

I emailed my RE and said I want an u/s to check for retained tissue. RE said, sure thing Ras you got it. I went to the u/s this morning. RE says, Ras your lining is really thick, you might need another D&C.

My first thought...
image

My second thought...
image

I said what a min Dr. RE, couldn't I avoid a D&C by taking a medication to force my lining to shed?
RE response: we'll maybe that is possible, I'm not sure if it would work - I'll need to talk with your OB about that.
Ras response: you do that Dr. RE guy, you do that.

image

I get a lovely voice mail from my OB.

OB: Ummm... Ras, so I got an email from Dr. RE. This is exactly why I told you to let me know if you did not get AF in April. Yes, we can treat this with medication. You need to come into the office right away.... but the office is closed now, so call on Monday. Oh, and I'm out all next week so you will have to see another Dr. in the practice.

I'm gonna need a drink (s)....

Re: AW: My RE tattletailed to my OB

  • OMG, Ras. That is so frustrating. I'm sorry that you're still dealing with all of this. TP to your OB for not following up with you sooner. Do they not realize that sometimes it's hard to tell between your period and the abnormal bleeding? Sheesh. Shame on your OB for trying to put this on you

  • OMG that's horrible! I agree with what luciddreamer said - perhaps the OB should have been a bit more vigilant about tracking your betas down/etc rather than putting it all onto you to differentiate between abnormal bleeding and regular AF... and then BLAMING you for it?!?! That's just plain rude. Since the OB's office is closed, can the RE's office provide the back-up to get medication going sooner so you don't have to wait through the weekend?
OB made it clear that he wanted me to come in for an appt. first before the medication is prescribed.

Its been 15 weeks, what's another few days. I'll get an extra few drinks in the weekend before I endure the pain of miso.

@katib77 I definitely made a mental note of this. I think what he was unsure about is if the miso was strong enough to force the lining out.  Also, he probably wanted the OB to weigh in because the OB performed the D&C. Not trying to stick up for the RE but trying to understand the thought process.

  • Ras, a few notes on your situation... 1. (((Hugs))) beyond, beyond, beyond B. I love your sense of humor in this shitty situation Third, you are one strong lady to putting up with this. Drinks all around! I would be the bartender if I wasn't currently in the fetal position in bed from these ridiculous post septum removal surgery cramps. I make a mean Mai Tai...

And that's why I hate doctors! Big TP to your OB, and a big slap in the face to your RE! Big ((HUGS)) to you! The best doctors turn into total douchbags when they do or say something wrong, because they are NEVER wrong. 8-|
