We are considering purchasing used baby furniture (crib, changing table and dresser) and wanted to get opinions. We would only buy solid wood, ensure we have brand and collection to ensure no recalls or known issues and would thoroughly inspect before purchasing. Then would of course disinfect and ensure clean for our bundle.

Seems you can get very nice sets in excellent condition which are premium beands for less than the "cheaper" brands in store. We feel that this would pose less risk than a less expensive/low quality new set. Thoughts?
Re: Used Nursery Furniture?
But if you check for recalls and all it's probably fine. I'm just paranoid because my old (21) crib is all recalled and stuff and my kids insist I get a new one for our late-in-life princess. So I'm getting an Ikea one that matches our bedroom close enough (where it will be for some time).

We bought our crib used. It was a $400 crib, purchased for $130, and it was used for 18 months by one child. We spent a lot on the rest of DDs furniture and I'm glad we went the used route for the crib since it is basically a throw away now that she is done with it.
As for safety....I used my common sense. No drop side, not wobbly. I'm sure some mom could tell horror stories of used cribs but we inspected this one and it has been perfectly fine. (I did pas on a free drop side crib our friend offered us even though she said that I could get the kit to fix it so I'm not totally un-paranoid, I guess)
