I know there was a post WAY back several weeks (months?) ago, so don't shoot me. I was just wondering how many of us were still here? Would love to have a weekly thread for us if that's possible?
As a vet, let me say that I don't know how spouses do it! Your job is so much harder!
I'm probably opening a can of worms here, but I always giggle when people say being a spouse is the hardest job "in the military." It's not hard to simply support your husband. When dh and I were dual military, we hardly ever saw each other because our schedules were so crazy. I don't think being a civilian spouse is a difficult "job" at all.
ETA that I understand every situation is different, but from my personal experience, this is the case.
@sjb2419 I think it stems from the separation. I speak from experience that that is hard only because I PCS'd 6 months before DH, so we were apart for the first 6 months of our marriage. That part is hard. I can deal with the moving (as long as I don't have to friggin' pack!) and the ups and downs, but the separation kinda gets you down after a while.
@nightowl1989 I understand that. When I was pregnant with DS, h deployed when I was 17 weeks and didn't come home until DS was 4 months old. I think my frustration comes in when spouses think they have it harder than the SM. They're separated from the spouse too, AND in a war zone. I don't want to start anything, it's just a pet peeve of mine.
@nightowl1989 I agree. Being ad and married to another ad service member was super difficult. Way more difficult than being a civilian. Anyway, I didn't intend to hijack this thread. I was just stating my 2 cents. Nothing but love for the ad, spouses, and vets.
