I have two today: 1) I put James back on purees this past week and a half to help deal with the constipation issues related to switching to whole milk. Due to constipation, not only was he having painful BMs, but he wasn't eating enough food to keep him satisfied and full enough to STTN. And I ain't got no time for that.
2) Relating to your confession above, @luckey4, sometimes I think that I leave LO too freely and readily and happily. I ADORE my child, but I really really really really need, want, enjoy and thrive on alone time/ adult time... sometimes I feel bad, like maybe that means I'm not as "into" motherhood as I should be. Because once #2 is born, I can only see this desire getting stronger. :-) It might be the #1 reason I keep working, actually!
EVER??? do you mean over night ? a few hours? or never?
i contemplated bringing DD with us on vacation to Mexico in a few weeks. I figured it would be nice to have her experience. But the thought of me and SO alone on the beach with a margarita outweighed my desire to bring her. Needless to say DD is staying with her grandparents and I will be in mexico for 6 day with SO

I can't imagine a faster way to ruin a tropical vacation than to have a baby with you. A 5 year old? Totally. A baby!? Not no, hell no.
Yeah, @luckey4 Do you mean you've never left him overnight? Or you've never spent any time away from him? I don't think that's bad if you've never left him overnight, but if you've never spent a few hours away from him, that's not even healthy!

@JSS1002 I've just had a really hard time, even thinking about leaving her. I don't know why. DH tells me ALL THE TIME, leave go get your hair, nails, pedicure done, something. I just say "no, I'm not ready" but on the other hand I'm like "she's over a year, I can do this."
But DH told me the other day he already booked me a nail and pedicure appt for Mother's Day, so I have to go. I'm trying to prepare myself.

DO IT.You have to. Even though I've only gone on two dates with my husband since Claire...I have had lots of outings and a few girls weekends on my own. It still stings leaving her...but when I get back, I'm refreshed and a better mom.
Like I previously posted, I will be leaving her for my appointments next week. I think I feel so differently than everyone else, because my parents were never around. I was at my grandmothers more than I was home. I guess I was just trying to make up for the time with DD that I never had growing up.

I haven't left my DD very often, a few weddings here and there or while she's sleeping. I want to but I feel really guilty. She's a very high maintenance child and is seriously attached to me. She just does not feel comfortable with others and I feel bad leaving my crying child with other people. I also feel like I'm abandoning her. I know I need to give her the chance to become comfortable around others though so I'm trying to leave her more.
Now my 3 year old... I skip out of the door as fast as possible to get time away from him...

Thanks @Erin10408 . What if I enjoy it too much?! Lol

I don't think you're so different. I think everyone has a tough time the first time they take that leap of leaving their kid. Some people just wait longer to do it. And thats just fine.
You're a great mom, and you'll still be a great mom after your day out...but now with pretty fingers and toes

yes, the first time leaving him with somebody other than DH was hard for me -- but you just have to do it, like ripping off a band-aid, and then it gets easier every time.
I don't judge anyone for leaving/not leaving their kids but if I didn't have a morning to myself every once in a while, I would have gone postal by now.
I think I have a serious sweets problem. I ate like 5 chocolate chip cookies already today and I don't see myself stopping. I have a drawer full of chocolate. It isn't hormonal or anything because I am like this every single day.
And this is a problem why? ...eats another handful of mint m&ms...
Had second waxing experience last night. I was tired and in a hurry to get home, so I didn't really check her work afterwards - figured she knew what she was doing. So I paid, tipped well, and went on my merry way.
As I stopped for gas on the way home, I noticed my pants seemed to be sticking to me a little. And sure enough, when I got home, I discovered that she had LEFT WAX all over my undercarriage. Annoying regardless, but effing PAINFUL when still attached to hair. Not happy.
Plan for sexy time last night also ruined. Doubly unhappy.
I leave LO with anyone who volunteers, the ladies at church are always saying if you ever need a sitter let me know. And I let them know every Friday For example I went to a birthday dinner for a friend and her mom was there and fell in love with LO by the end she volunteered to babysit. I got her number and he will be there tonight while I go eat bang bang shrimp and rainbow trout at Bonefish and see Spiderman with my hubby. I have no shame I need to spend time with my other man too.

That's pretty typical, actually, after waxing. The easiest way to get rid of it is just to sit in a warm bath for a few minutes and use a loofah or wash cloth and scrub. If you don't have time for a bath, a tab of olive oil will also help remove it - and then you're also lubed up and have killed two birds with one stone. ;-)

I think we got our first/second waxes around the same time (wax sisters!) I found the second time to be less painful- did you?
How long does it take to notice results/heal from waxing for a first timer? We're going on vacation in 2 weeks and I wonder if I should bother at this point (not that I'll be showing that much stretched-mark skin anyway) @Kate_C

Results are instant. The second she is done, you have the results. It will last for about 6 weeks before you see any regrowth, and even then you can stretch it out to 8 weeks or even longer if you want.
Healing... varies. I have never had to "heal," just might be a little sensitive down there for a day or so.

I have really sensitive skin so the first time I was red and bumpy for a couple days before things smoothed out. The second time I was bumpy for a day. If you're going on vacay I would do it a couple days before you leave! And take Tylenol 30 minutes before

And I was supposed to get waxed today but had to cancel / postpone because I have a really bad ingrown hair that I don't want them going near!

The fact that you can stand being waxed while pregnant is crazy!!
I've been doing it so long now that it doesn't hurt as much -- although it definitely hurts MORE while pregnant. But I don't want to deal with lots of hair post-labor... so I just grit my teeth and bear it.

I have really sensitive skin too so this is what I was worried about!
Thanks for the info girls! I've always chickened out in the past but I think I'll go for it this time.
@hatroopes - like @ChicagoBroad26 I was red and bumpy a few days the first time. The hair came back MUCH finer though so second time was much easier. And if you are scared, just do the bikini line instead of the full Monty. Good enough for most swimsuits!
And I didn't have any wax left after the first time, but good to be warned for next time I guess. Still, ouch!!

Yes, ouch, and what is worse is when it sticks to your underwear and you aren't at home to deal with it (ie, you go run errands or go back to work).
How does every thread on here turn into discussion of waxing?
My confession: I don't maintain my bikini line unless I know I'll be in a bathing suit. Pre-motherhood, I used to shave every other week or so, but then I found out my husband can't even tell the difference, so, in the words of Babs (what happened to her, btw?), I "embraced the bush." Absolutely no regrets.
My MFP just updated and I now have the option to track how many steps I take in a day. My FFFC is that I'm tempted to tape my phone to my toddlers back to see how many steps her busy butt takes in a day. Just kidding. Not really though

@bibliophileemily I totally have a bush, too! Whatever... I clean the house, cook meals, work full-time, and, of course, mother. I don't have time to be bothered with trimming the hedge. If H has a problem with it, he doesn't have to see it!
I will, however, get a wax before I lay out by the pool this summer and I will maintain it over the summer. I am a decent human, haha.

I do all those things too. And wax. I can't be bothered to shave, plus can't stand the itchy regrowth and ingrown hairs. If I still shaved down there, I'd probably also have a full bush because i'm too lazy. But a quick 15 minute appt at a nearby Euro wax center every 6 weeks on my way home from work and I'm good to go. ;-)
A not so nice one: I went out for happy hour with two male coworkers yesterday and they started ripping on a woman in our office. She's heavier and apparently has some body odor, so they were going on about it. (Odor more than size)
I felt weirdly honored that they included me in the guy talk. But then felt like a total bitch that I didn't chastise them for being jerks for talking about her like that. X_X

Hey, sometimes you can't do much about weight...but odor you can. There's no excuse for smelly
I am on day 3 of this sickness from hell and I miss holding and snuggling my kids so much. Like, crying-because-I-can't-kiss them miss them. This does not bode well for my weeklong vacation at the end of this month
I use this numbing stuff called Bare Ease before I get a wax so it's only a little tender after the waxing. My lady also has a cosmo on deck for me before I even lay down.
I just read a disturbing article about the safety of the UV lights used for gel manicure and now I feel like I should give them up and I"m probably way more sad about it than I should be.

My husband and I have gone on TWO date nights since Claire was born.
This needs to change. But, the only family that is close by is my selfish, bratty sister, and I don't trust her to watch Claire.
So...finding a good babysitter is on my list of things to do.
Now my 3 year old... I skip out of the door as fast as possible to get time away from him...
