Clomid Question

My husband and I are doing our first IUI cycl this month. I'm very excited and nervous at the same time.  I'm to start my 100 mg (50mg twice a day) of clomid today.  I was told I can either divide the dose or just take both pills at once.  Not having tried clomid before, I was wondering what everyone would suggest me doing.

    This month was the first time I took 100mg of Clomid (but 8th time taking it I think?). I took both pills at once and surprisingly didn't have many side effects from it. I think my body is just used to it now. I would suggest taking it first thing in the morning. I've tried both morning and night and honestly, I would rather have the hot flashes durning the day. It made it really tough to sleep at night when I took it before bed.

    Dx MFI with low to normal count, low motility, morphology 3%
    HSG normal, ultrasound and labs on me all normal. 

    1 cycle of Clomid 50mg and TI, unmonitored by OBGYN= BFN
    1 cycle of Clomid 50mg and IUI, unmonitored by OBGYN= BFN
    Started seeing an RE!!
    2 more cycles of clomid 50mg (great response), with IUI and Pregnyl trigger (4.8-8 mil good ones after wash) = all BFN
    1 cycle of clomid 50mg (3-7) followed by Follistim 75iu (7-11) + IUI = BFN
    December 2013 DH saw urologist and is taking Anastrozole, CoQ10, and L-Carnitine
    IUI #5 natural cycle (needed a med break) = BFN
    IUI #6 Follistim 75iu (CD3-10) + Pregnyl (CD11) + IUI (final count after wash 300K) = BFN
    IUI #7 Follistim 75iu (CD3-9) + Pregnyl (CD11) + IUI on 2/20 (post wash count 12.5 million)= BFN
    IUI cancelled (DH OOT) Clomid 50mg (CD3-7) 1 follicle +(not well timed) TI = BFN
    IUI #8 and last one!! Clomid 100mg (CD3-7) +OPK before US + IUI 4/17 (post wash 8.5 mil)= BFN

    Pre-IVF testing complete! SHG great and measurements taken! Labs for infectious diseases completed, FSH (5.4), TSH (1.6), Prolactin (11), AMH (2.6), Estradiol (40).

    Started BCP 5/29 and Lupron 6/11 prep for IVF #1! Started follistim 225u/day on 6/28. Monitoring on 7/2 >15 follicles measuring 11-14, E2 758. Monitoring on 7/5 all ready to go!! Great follicle sizes and lining is at 9. Tigger 7/5, ER 7/7 16R 9M 3F. Stimmed too fast in just 7 days. 7/10 3dt of 2 8-cell grade 2 & 4. 7/14 P4 >60.
    Holy crap BFP!!!
    Beta #1 (14dpo) 7/21 112 Beta #2 (16dpo) 7/23 286 a Beta #3 (18dpo) 7/25 761 Beta #4 (21dpo) 2631!!! Hold on tight little embies!!      First Ultrasound 8/7- 1 perfect little bean with a beating heart 117bpm!! EDD 3/30.
    Second ultrasound 9/2 Little bean measuring a few days ahead with a heart rate of 161!

    I had no side effects until I took 200mg, then holy hot flashes!  I had muscle cramps and blurry vision as well.  I found taking it at night was best so that the vision problems weren't affecting me during the daytime.  Hopefully you'll be side effect free!

    I always took all the pills together before bed. I still had some side effects but found taking it before bed thwarted some of them. Good luck!

    I would take them together as well.  I had massive hot flashes and trouble sleeping when I took 100mg at night.

    Hi there cycle buddy!

    I am commencing my first IUI cycle as well.  Starting my 5 day clomid protocol tomorrow night... to be followed by FSH injection, Estrace, HcG shot, IUI, and progesterone. I am so excited and nervous too! Had my follicular u/s this morning and I had 8-9 on each side. Are you going to be monitored too?

    ME:      36, on BC since 1996,  irregular periods.   HUBS:      37, healthy

    On BC till end of 2009.  2010 NTNP.

    Hi Waterlily!  I hope we both have a lucky month. :)  Started Clomid last night.  Woke up feeling fine but have had headaches today....not sure if it is meds or just work. j/k  I don't go in for my ultrasound until Monday to see how everything is going.  So fingers crossed all will go well.

    Hi Waterlily...sorry just got your post.  Haven't been on here in a while.  I felt all different things...headaches first few days...then bouts of nausea...hot flashes.  All pretty manageable except the first two days.  Supposed to ovulate soon and do the IUI..probably the weekend.  How are you feeling now?

    Hi Waterlily and Kristen! I am pretty close to your cycles...taking my last clomid pills (100 mg) tomorrow night and go in for my u/a early Monday morning! If follies are mature I will receive my trigger shot and TI with DH the following 3 days...good luck to both of you!!

    Good luck to you too rella22.  Just waiting for my positive OPK which doctor expects me to get the weekend and will go in for our first IUI.  Decided the first cycle to try w/out the trigger shot.  Fingers crossed we all have good luck! :)

    Good luck ladies!! I'm on day 5 of follistim after the clomid, I have been having hot flashes too but pretty manageable. Going in tomorrow for another u/s, I had one today and I had five lead follicles at almost 17, 16, 13, 12 and 12...I'm prob going to trigger Sunday night and IUI Monday and possibly a second Tuesday. My e2 was at 650 today. @KristenG2011‌ good luck with the opk I hope it's blazing! Let me know if it is any different on clomid. @rella22‌ fingers crossed for you too! What are you triggering with? :-bd

    Yay Kristen!! Waterlily...I'm using Ovidrel..what are you using? I go in tomorrow so we will see what I have going on! Let me know about your IUI experience...we start that in June if TI doesn't work...Good luck to both of you!

    Rella...Ovidrel for me too...taking the shot tonight! KUP on your u/s tomorrow I hope you responded well.  Feeling activity in the ov's today, of course it could all be in my head lol but I am so excited!  Yesterday's u/s showed my bad boys grew to 20, 20, 19, 17, and 16 so he cut last night's follistim dose in half. How was the IUI today Kristen? Do you feel like it will work? I really hope so for you!

    Thank you Waterlily and Rella! The IUI went well. My 'RE did an ultrasound first to see if I had ovulated. It showed that two of my follicles were just starting to collapse. My hubby had a really good count after the washing. So he said all looked really good.lt was neat to watch it all on the ultrasound. Just feeling a little bloated. Now we just wait. He said to test in two weeks. The day after hubbys bday and mother's day! Thinking of you both! Let me know how you both do too!! :)

    I was on 50mg and I had SEVERE side effects. I think I was one of those really bad ones though, I haven't talked to someone who has reacted as badly as I did.

    But I would take them together. I felt side effects about two hours after taking them....so if you do get side effects it might be better to get it over with in one shot than twice a day.

    GL and FX you don't have side effects at all!

    Hi girls! Just got back from the RE and I responded well! Right side had 1 mature at 21mm and the left side had a 24!!!! and a 16 that they said should mature in time as well (2mm per day). Ovidrel tonight at 10! How's everyone else feeling??

    Whoop whoop! IUI went great...well not great, apparently my cerv was kind of weird and hiding, so they had to try a few times to get a good position and it was uncomfortable and a bit crampy...I had a bit of spotting too... But big picture wise, sperm count was great and the little fellas were deposited successfully so I'm thrilled. Doing my second tomorrow morning, then started 200 mg of estrace and progesterone suppositories. Whew hew! When are you ladies getting your betas? I think we all will be pregnant, I can feel it!

    So glad everything went well today Waterlily! Whoo hoo! :) I was told to test the 11th. He isn't having me go for blood work. When are you all testing? Positive thoughts all around!!

    Hi Ladies!  Waterlily that is awesome and I love your positive thoughts!  Good luck today as well!  My doctor told me not to test because of the Ovidrel and to come in for bloodwork if I didn't get AF by 5/21 which is CD35 for me and SOOO far away :|  I am going to try to honor his request by not testing but I usually bust every month and POAS........

    I haven't had an IUI yet, but I have taken my fair share of Clomid. 

    I primarily took 50mg, but I did do one cycle of 100mg. 

    When I took 100mg I took them together before bed. I had EVERY side effect you could have with Clomid. I was miserable, anxious, suffered insomnia, my ovaries felt like bowling balls, the HOT FLASHES WERE NO JOKE (it felt like I was boiling from within), and then the period after (which I hope you do not experience) was like AF on steroids. 

    You sleep through the majority of the side effects when you take them at night. Minus the hot flashes, I would need to change at least once in the night. Have you ever seen that Adam Sandler movie "Jack and Jill"? If so think 'sweat shadow'. SICK. 

    Good luck with the Clomid. Not trying to freak you out, and I hope you are one of the luck ones who has minimal to no side effects at all!

    Mrsbark..gosh you went through a lot on Clomid!  So sorry.  I had some issues too when I was taking it.  I decided to follow everyone's advice and take it at night.  I can only imagine how much more magnified they would have been if I decided to take them during the day.

    Waterlily...keep us posted if you test early!  I know....it will be hard not too that's for sure.  Good luck to everyone too!  Definitely we should all check back in with each other! :)

    I know it sounds crazy...but feeling naseous..twinges near belly button etc.  I don't want to get my hopes up too much but I do feel a little different.  Praying it is a good sign. :)

    Just checking in ladies...I'm 10 dpiui here and BFN on a Dollar $ test. I tested in the afternoon on 8 dpiui and I had a faint faint positive, so I know my trigger is gone, just hoping for a positive soon! I've been pretty tired and yesterday I had breast tenderness big time but today it's not as bad. I am losing my steam a little but trying to stay positive. How are my ladies?

    @Waterlily234‌ just went in for my progesterone yesterday...26.4! My trigger was gone last Friday....so I have the POAS itch but I'm going to wait until Sunday (at least I'm going to try to wait). I'm not feeling any different tho so I'm in no hurry for that BFN. Still have hopes for your BFP!

    How are my ladies? 12 dpiui here, negative FRER yesterday, so I'm not testing today. Can't handle the bfn. @rella22‌ that is an AWESOME progesterone number, my 7 dpiui progesterone was 56 but I am on suppositories. Anyone having symptoms? Besides bb's...which I'm just chalking up to the progesterone, I got nothing. ^#(^

    Hi ladies! Sorry I've been offline for a little. Been hard but waiting to test until tomorrow. Feeling low back aches..hoping it isn't AF. Like Rella..not in any hurry to see a bfn. Stay positive Waterlily..you never know. :) We all need to check in tomorrow.

    @KristenG2011‌ this whole process seriously sucks so much! I tested yesterday and got a BFN...I honestly don't even want to test tomorrow because I already feel AF coming on! so looks like we will be cycle buddies again....(((hugs))) for having AF...a forced smile on ur DH bday...and for tomorrow!
