My DS refuses to sleep unless he is on his stomach. This tired momma has caved in and lets him. He is still in my room in his PNP beside the bed, so I'm able to keep a close eye on him. I feel bad knowing "back is best" but this momma is just going with it.
In most cases, I think that MIL hate is over the top and AWing. I judge more on the ridiculousness of the complaints than the "craziness" of the MIL. Irritating behavior isn't a good enough reason for the drama.
There are legitimate BSC ILs and terrible relationships, absolutely. But I think a lot of the time, it has more to do with a selfish and/or uncompassionate DIL.
I will admit my view is likely skewed because I never got the chance to be irritated with my MIL as a grandma. And watching DH continue to mourn as he experiences parenthood for the first time is heartbreaking.
However, I find tickers that say someone is 103 weeks pregnant a little humorous. I try to imagine what she would look like that far pregnant. And the agony she must be in...
And no matter how many times I've been told by MIL (or whoever) to use gripe water I agree, hiccups are natural. If they get bad, I BF LO and they go away.
@babycaps about the jeans...not sure if you have one by you, but I get my "boot cuts" at Marshall's, Burlington Coat Factory, and Kohls of course carries them. I'm not sure I could even pull off skinny jeans, as I'm not skinny lol
I agree with @WisconsinCheese12 on hiccups and gripe water.
My UO....I don't love shopping! Especially for clothes. I hate the skinny, boyfriend, straight leg cut jeans, they do no good on the side of faltering a woman's body, especially those of us who have wide hips. I'm pissed that some brands don't even carry a boot cut anymore (loft).
LOFT doesn't carry bootcut anymore!?! WTF? They were my go-to brand of jeans for a good, flattering cut.
I love skinny jeans, it's the only jeans I own. But I do hate shopping. I find it hard to find age appropriate clothing. I am drawn more to the junior trends sections/stores but I think maybe since I am 30 I shouldn't buy those clothes. But the women's stores make be feel old.
My UO: I hate concerts. I am shocked at the amount of money people spend in concert tickets. It's loud, people are always made if you stand, but if you sit you can't see. I just don't see the appeal.
Ok, so mind are completely unrelated, but whatevs.
LO takes many a nap in her swing, swinging away the whole time. I've read everywhere it's not good to leave them in there for more than like 20 mins. I don't care-it works.
Another UO? I enjoy watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Yes, they're crazy, money-hungry, babbling, obnoxious attention whores....but I LOVE them! The more the better! (Even though reading about them annoys me- watching the show is like one big train wreck I CANNOT walk away from!!)
I know we've gone through this one before but it really bothers me when people pick and choose vaccines, delay, or just don't vaccinate period (unless there is a very good reason). My friend chose not to do the chicken pox vaccine and is mad that her doctor is refusing to provide care. Call me crazy, naive, too trusting, whatever, but I have a degree in education, not medicine. I'm going to do what medical professionals suggest because they know more than I do. If I can prevent my kids from getting sick, even if it's something as simple as the chicken pox, I'm going to do it. (Also, I have several scars from chicken pox because I got it so bad. I may not remember it but my mom does and she felt terrible.)

Let the flaming begin.
Well put. I agree with you. I get paid the big bucks to teach (ha!) so should my doctors who know best in their field. If you don't trust the professionals to know what's best for your children, then why do you use their services? They know what they are doing.
I don't like pop music. And by "pop" I mean "mainstream." I don't like pop, hip-hop, R&B/Soul, country, rock, new age, or "alternative." Name an artist and I probably don't like them.
I listen to classical, folk, classic jazz, and american roots music.
I agree about the vaccine stuff. Not that I think we have that many people on this board that would disagree.
My UO is that I don't think it's a big deal to talk or make eye contact with my LO in the middle of the night.Maybe it'll bite me in the butt later, but right now she goes back down fine.
If I invite you to dinner, I expect you to be a guest. You may offer to help, but I will tell you no help is required (because I will have planned everything ahead to ensure I don't need help). I will also have planned ahead to ensure I have time to visit with my guests instead of spending 2 hours in the kitchen preparing the meal then another hour cleaning up.
So...if you invite me to your house, I expect to be treated as a guest, and in a similar way. Therefore, don't expect me to help, and don't get upset if I don't offer to help. Don't forget,...I have a newborn that BFs on demand.
I hate wearing a bra. I love how I look in them, but they are so dang uncomfortable!!!! I've tried all different types and can't find any that are truly 'comfy'. I wear sports bras or nothing at all whenever I can. Too bad I cut glass with these nips so going out in public without a bit of padding isn't an option.
Haaaa! This is me exactly. I. Can. Not. Stop! It comes on here everyday from 9-1, I'm absolutely useless in those 4 hours. If it's not something that can be done from the living room. I actually get alot of laundry folded this way;). I'm worried about when I start school in a couple of weeks and I actually have homework to do during the day. I won't be able to even turn the TV on because i don't have the will power to not watch. Haha,my secret is out now too.
@KariB509 I agree. I have a friend whose son just turned a year old and every time I talk to her she reminds me to delay Ellie's vaccinations because she is. She even called me a bad mom when she found out that Ellie got her HepB in the hospital. She's SO stuck on the autism argument. It makes me so mad.
Tell your friend you'd rather have a child with autism than end up dead from some horrible disease that could've been prevented from a shot. That's what I do.

My UO I hate little 'holidays' where you're expected to buy gifts for people.. I HATE buying gifts. Its so stressful to me. People never use or appreciate the shit you buy for them anyway and its such a waste of my hard earned money. The holidays im referring to are like mothers day and fathers day and birthdays for ADULTS! Its just annoying to me. My ILs celebrate Everyone's birthday and everyone expects gifts. Your a grown adult. You dont need gifts or a special birthday dinner every.single.year. Im sure this is a very UO.
And also, I just popped my UO cherry!

I definitely agree about the skinny jeans. Some people can wear them, most can't or shouldn't, I'm one of ten and haven't even tried on a pair ever.
I can't stand ten boy drivers with hyped up cars that think they can do anything. One kid cut me off within inches and I almost hit him. Slamme on brakes, the road was wet and my tires slid. Both kids were in the car and I was ticked.
I hate the thick, round lollipops. Dd thinks they're awesome til she can't finish it and just complains about being sticky. Who ever finishes one of those?

Can you join my family??!!! It might just be you and me, but I'd be okay with that. I've been saying this for YEARS!!!
I don't celebrate much at all. But my family and my ILs make such a big deal out of everything.
I have a list 1. I hate skinny jeans 2. I hate reality tv 3. People who don't vaccinate are stupid 4. And my last one is people who take their Los out in public only wearing a diaper.
@babycaps the "rock star" cut jeans from old navy are my favorite boot cut jeans. I was a skinny punk rock kid in high school and have been wearing skinny jeans exclusively since 9th grade. I used to buy jeans and sew them because they didn't make them skinny enough. I still wear and love my skinny jeans, but I don't sew them anymore.
I have a list 1. I hate skinny jeans 2. I hate reality tv 3. People who don't vaccinate are stupid 4. And my last one is people who take their Los out in public only wearing a diaper.
People do this?
I seen it yesterday at the grocery store, not the first time but it irritates me!
The vaccine issue is a regular frustration for me. I have a cousin who refused vaccinations for her kids, and it seems like they are sick pretty frequently. She was supposed to visit over the Easter weekend, and I was so nervous about her children being around my tiny babe that I asked his pediatrician if there was any risk involved. (In hindsight that sounds pretty silly, but I'm terrified of whooping cough) Maybe I never noticed how much media attention it attracts, but I've seen several articles on it since getting pregnant. I don't understand why some are still refusing them since the autism theory was debunked! Herd immunity, people!
In the same respect, it really pisses me off when people don't vaccinate their animals or protect them from fleas then bring them around my animals. First off all, you're an asshole and your animal doesn't deserve that. Secondly, you know how hard it is to get rid of fleas, and so do I.. get out of my life.

I thought Inception was great the first time I watched it. My UO is that I think it got exponentially less exciting the second time I watched it. It's like watching a magic trick when you know the secrets of the trick.

I think the real question is was it a boring plain diaper, or one of the suave and fashionable denim looking diapers? )

Sweet lord thank you for correcting that. The phrase "I seen it" makes my eyes bleed.

I am also anti-birthday gift and party for adult. I will give someone "big birthdays", but I do not have any desire to have a party or have a bunch of people buy me gifts. Dinner and a gift from DH is more than enough for me.
I don't know if this is an UO, but December birthdays suck. My birthday is just a few days before Christmas and I hate it. I refused to try to conceive if it was going to mean a holiday baby because I hate my birth date so much.
I only buy jeans at American Eagle. They go on sale a lot, they have all the styles I like, and I find them the most flattering. Old Navy jeans give me saggy butt.
This! I hate going in there because it looks like the 90's took over lately. But they have the best jeans/jean shorts. On a sad note, I bought 3 pairs of size 6 jean shorts last summer before I knew I was pregnant ( looks like mommy has some baby weight to lose.

I don't get why moms get insulted when ppl say baby looks like daddy. Mia looks just like her dad, I would love if she looked more like me, but I don't get offended when ppl notice that she does on fact look like her dad.

Both boys look like DH (DS1 more so, but he doesn't have my genetics so I don't mind at all). When people say DS2 looks like DH I say "thanks he is handsome just like his dad...but I grew him" and smile because it's true. I don't understand why it bothers people either. He contributed to their genetic make up too.

My husband has long, thick lashes and super cute dimples. I WANTED LO to look like him, and got so excited when she inherited both those traits! I don't get insulted at all, never understood women that do. I know a girl that dyed her hair brunette because her baby is brunette like her husband and she hates people saying she looked like him. So weird.
I think the video of the gender reveal gone wrong (where the big brother has a meltdown b/c it's another girl) is ridiculous!!!! Somebody needs to give that child a time out, or even a good old fashioned spanking!! It was cute for about .2 seconds, but once he started saying girls were stupid, and he hated them I would have shut the camera off!!

Ooh—I hate whenever people ask me my baby's name, then ask me what I'm going to call her. I'm going to call her what I named her!
Yes!! 10000 times YES!
This drives me insane! I named her that name for a reason. I know she'll get a nickname eventually but at the moment I couldn't care less what her nickname will be. That is something usually decided once they get to school.
My child listens to 80's rock and things like The Deftones, Chevelle, A Perfect Circle....I'm sure DH has played Black Flag and other punk and ska for him also.
Re: UO
There are legitimate BSC ILs and terrible relationships, absolutely. But I think a lot of the time, it has more to do with a selfish and/or uncompassionate DIL.
I will admit my view is likely skewed because I never got the chance to be irritated with my MIL as a grandma. And watching DH continue to mourn as he experiences parenthood for the first time is heartbreaking.
Wow! I agree with you.
