Question for my SIL:
She has been prescribed meds for Bell's Palsy, one of which is Ciprofloxacin (cipro). Her doctor told her to pump and dump for the 13 days she was on the cipro. I followed a link from Kellymom and it claims the risks aren't as bad as what has always been thought. Multiple other sites recommend the pump and dump, though.
My question is has anyone had any experience with or have any knowledge of cipro? Ever taken it while BFing? Know of any alternatives to request? I suggested she ask for an alternative if possible, but thought I'd throw it out to you laides, as well. Thanks!

dr. thomas hale, a breastfeeding researcher, says it's presumed safe, but to watch infant for GI problems:

LactMed says little risk to the baby (also lists alternatives):

the conclusion that i would draw from those sources is that it's fine.
she can also check in with her pediatrician for another opinion-- sometimes pedis are a little more informed on the subject. you can also call the infantrisk hotline, or send in a message to dr. newman via the websites above for additional info.
