Car Seat Hair?

Does anyone have a solution for what to do about car seat hair?  DS's hair on the back of his head always gets messy and full of knots and sticks out in all sorts of fun directions when I get him out of the car.  I know it's from his head rubbing back and forth on the car seat (I assume this is similar to why some kids have bald spots when they're little and sleeping on their backs all the time too?).  I've been trying to keep a comb on me so I can get the knots out, but then he's left with a big frizzy spot on the back of his head full of fine, straight hair, and of course combing the knots out isn't exactly his favorite thing either.

Re: Car Seat Hair?

  • We call that "nap hair" in our house since DD always gets the same thing after her naps. We usually use a water spray bottle and a brush (not comb) to try and smooth it down and it works pretty well. It doesn't always get the knots out, but it tames it enough so that it's not sticking straight out for the rest of the day and then we get the knots out at bath time. Since DD doesn't like us to spray her head directly (can't say I blame her) we usually just spray the water directly onto the comb and then brush it down. Maybe keep a spray bottle and comb in the car?

  • I would put a bit of leave in conditioner in a spray bottle with mostly water and keep that in the car.  Spray some and then comb it down.
  • DD gets it too! I brush it but it stays a bit frizzy anyways.

  • Omg we have this too. I just bought california baby detangler. I keep ot on the diaper bag along with a brush. I spray i t on the brush and run through her hair

  • My DD gets it too but it's a lot better now that she is in a convertible car seat. I don't really do anything. Depending on where we are going, I may take a spray bottle of water and refix it but generally I can just fix it with my fingers. She has a big head of curly hair.

I use a wetwipe and a comb. Fixes it every time.
