Re: keeping ourselves going.

  • I am having a Yogurtini party with some friends and family tonight in my hospital room. Yogurtini is right by the hospital and they are having an all you can fill in a cup for 3.50! I told the hubs to pile all the fruit ,sprinkles and yummy goodness he can in my cup. Bed rest means no more weight ins so I say BRING ON THE SWEETS!!

  • Today, my me time will be running. And now a chocolate shake at some point...
  • Today I plan on painting my toenails during naptime and drinking a big iced coffee.
  • Love all these--good work treating yourselves right, ladies, and may we continue to do so!

I have been trying to find those in between moments to just sit down, put my feet up and close my eyes. I get home from work at 5:30 and DH gets home around 7:00 so technically I have a fair amount of me time but as we all know it gets swallowed up so easily. The last few days I've really needed it though so as soon as I walk through the door I pee, fix myself a bunch of snacks and an iced tea or lemonade, find a sunny spot on the couch, put my feet up and just sit there. Crying happens sometimes too. Then hopefully I have everything I need so that I don't have to get up again for at least 30 minutes!
  • I've been neglecting my own needs lately and instead I've been trying to do too much. I need to just relax, get rid of these cramps and stay calm until my appointment later.

Today I'm taking a break from my online work, drinking a bunch of water and doing little things that I like. DH is home today and I sent him for a nap so I can take an hour to just center myself. I'm not cooking dinner, I'm not doing chores, I'm not doing anything that I am dreading or that I can put off until tomorrow without a problem

  • I'm planning to order a couple of final items that we need for the nursery. Knowing that we have all that we really need to be comfortable for the first few weeks with baby will calm me down.

Today I managed to do yoga for 45 minutes. It was hard, but I feel more relaxed afterward. I am also making all the lists of all the things I need to do before the baby comes. Lists are SO therapeutic. AMIRITE?
    YES!

  • This thread is great! Like so many of you, I think that a good cry is needed. I find myself welling up at everything and think that with H out of the house tonight, I may need to let it all go. I've also finally made a list of items to put in my hospital bag and diaper bag (which I still have to buy). Having a concrete list has made me feel better.

Also, my manager just left so I think I am going to follow suit and take a little extra time to myself this afternoon.

I am doing my squats every day too. So that helps.
I'm getting my car state inspection right now (yup, waited until 4/29), and this literally made me LOL!  I'm thinking about getting a McDonald's milkshake on the way home now too.

I'm a list person and today I'm going to make baby related lists.  (I realize this might sound nuts to many of you, but it's calming for me and helps me focus and organize which I desperately need to do.)

I've started a "To-Do" and a "To-Buy" list and am just brainstorming everything I need to get done in the next month-ish.  Everything from pulling baby stuff out of the basement, to packing the hospital bag, to buying newborn diapers and breast pads is getting listed so I can feel accomplished when I cross them off.  :)  I'm also blocking out the next couple Saturdays for things like making freezer meals and organizing baby stuff.

    ---------------Stuck in the box-------------------

I'm the exact same way. I currently have two lists on my fridge of what we need for the hospital bag/to take the the hospital and what else we need to buy for baby before she's born. I looovvveee lists.

  • I had the day off so I dropped my daughter off at day care, went to the gym, had my hair appointment. Ended up with a new style and then went shopping got some stuff we needed for the baby. Crossed a lot of stuff off my list that I needed. I also had a chocolate milke shake and had some lunch with my mom while she was on break. Then I went and spent some time with my grandmother. Came home and I am having a nice quite relaxing evening with my daughter and husband. On my day off I am always cleaning and don't get to relax. Hoping this weekend I will be able to pack the bag and get the rest of the stuff we need before baby Alex comes. Hope everyone takes times for themselves seems to be important as we are getting close to the end.
  • My daughter is watching Thomas the train on my kindle in the living room while I cut up mangos in the kitchen drink my coffee. I don't know how long she will be quiet but I'm going to enjoy the crap out of it while it lasts. This will be my me time.
This is me too but with two kiddos and an iPad. :)

  • I had today off, so I spent the morning napping on the couch, which was sooo needed after my crazy busy week last week/weekend.

But I also got stuff done in the afternoon. Cleaned the kitchen, did some laundry, went grocery shopping. Not very fun, but I've been putting it all off so it feels good to finally have it all done.
  • I'm so impressed by the bladders of the women who are still running! I have to pee when I go from sitting to standing half the time!!
  • Good thread! I am going to treat my self to a long much needed pedi with my best friend. And I'm gonna try and not nest till this weekend. I'm giving my self a few days off. I need it :)
  • @aleher15 how the hell are you still painting your toes? Even if I could I would pretend I couldn't so I could have a pedicure. Lol I had to have DH put my socks and shoes on today.
