Not Sure About Today's Ultrasound

I'm 8w5d and both babies were measuring fine with HBs of 170bpm. But Baby B's gestational sac is smaller than Baby A's. Almost like he/she doesn't have much room to kick around in. I cycled out of state so local RE did u/s and faxes report to my RE. RE's nurse didn't give much feedback via email and just said to repeat in a week. I'm trying to get a local OB appt as RE doesn't release until 10-11 weeks but local RE releases her patients at 7 weeks so she isn't used to see babies at my stage. Feel like I need more care than this... I ended up in the hospital last week with extreme dehydration due to a stomach bug. It would be nice to have an actual doctor who I belong too as I feel like I'm floundering in the wind right now.

I'm really not sure if sack size at this stage means a whole lot since it is obviously going to grow with baby. My Baby A is kind of nestled into my uterus and the sack seems much smaller than by Baby B (who, at only 8 weeks, I'm calling the womb hog).

This is from last week at 8 weeks 4 days.

I stupidly read online that the sac had to be 5mm bigger than say for good outcomes... Idk. Trying not to worry too much at this point. Mine looks similar to yours with them being different sized sacs but the babies inside are the same size.

I would think it is fine as long as they measured properly. The OB might not be used to seeing babies this early since most women who did not use ART typically don't have an u/s until 10-12 weeks. So while i think it is totally fine if you would feel more comfortable setting up an appointment with them, they might not be able to give you any answers.

I don't have a lot of advice, but just an idea. Is it possible that they can't see all of the sac on the u/s? U/S can only get slices of what's happening inside, right?

Now get off of Dr. Goo.gle! I'm sure if there was anything to be concerned about you could have read it on your doctor's face or they would have told you. Right?

I have no experience with twins but from my experience on TB, it seems that one twin normally measures behind the other. Did you ask on the multiples board? That will be some good feedback for sure!

It wasn't my doctor since I cycle out of state. Not sure the local RE would tell me if it was really bad. Didn't get any feedback from RE except to repeat in a week ad stay on meds. From what I know, everyone else got their meds cut at this stage and they aren't cutting mine.... Makes me worry.

That's a good idea.. The baby itself isn't Measuring behind-- just her gest sac.

I agree with PP. I think it's the angle. This is my u/s from 9 weeks and the babies were measuring super close, but the sac for one looked a lot smaller. It's like one sac was running side to side of my ute and the other was front to back.

Let me know if you can't see the pic and I'll try again. Sometimes I can see them, but others can't.

I wish I had advice for you, but I don't. But just reading the PP responses, the angle thing makes a load of sense. I hope it's nothing and everything continues to go well! FWIW even with singletons, I've seen sacs vary greatly (at least visually) when I googled pictures of them. Dr Google can be scary though! Keep us posted for your next u/s!

My baby B was the same way. I really think it was the angle. Even at our anatomy scan it looked like he had much less of a sac/fluid than his sister. FWIW he's head butting my bladder right now and measuring bigger than his sister. I'm still keeping you in my prayers as I have been.

I don't really have anything to add, but I am pulling for both your little ones. I totally agree you need a local doc, even if not for scans but for YOU. after all this, you need to feel supported and cared for.

as for the meds, I think it makes total sense to keep the meds just as they are until any concerns resolve.

unfortunately, you are at the place you have been many many times, you will just have to wait and see. I think the odds of this situation are MUCH better than they have ever been, so do your best to keep calm and carry on. huge hugs.

McIrish, I'm hoping and praying for both of your LOs to be okay. A strong HB at 8.5 weeks is already a great sign. Guessing (with fingers crossed!) that you're going to stay on the right side of the odds this time. I'm glad you don't have to wait too long until your next u/s.

At my last u/s baby B's sac was a lot smaller than baby A's, my doctor didn't seem concerned. I hope everything looks great at your next u/s!!

FWIW, I wasn't given the green light to go off meds till I was 10, close to 11 weeks. So I wouldn't worry about that end of it. Sending you lots of T&Ps.... am stalking this board for your updates!

I had an u/s at 8.5 weeks. Baby B was measuring ahead of the game at 8 weeks 6 days but the gestational sac was measuring two weeks behind. baby A's sac was measuring 6 days behind. My dr said that he isn't concerned since the heart rates were so high. he said it could be the angle or maybe there isn't a lot of room. he wouldn't even give me another u/s. Fingers crossed for a good report this week.
