GoT Thread. Probably spoilers. Only give opinion if you don't know what's really going to happen

OK?!

SO. What'd ya'll think?! I was right!! ...and wrong at the same time because I didn't pick up that the necklace was of importance. Good call on who ever said that.

Re: GoT Thread. Probably spoilers. Only give opinion if you don't know what's really going to happen

  • Loved the scenes between Jamie and Brienne and with him and Tyrion. It was interesting to see Jamie move away from his loyalty to Cersei with two bold moves.

I'm curious to see what is going to happen to Sansa. I feel like she has just been along for the ride in the grand scheme of things (because of awful circumstances) and I would really like to see her character grow.

  • How do you guys feel about the White Walker storyline?

There are so many other story lines happening that I am a little underwhelmed by it so far.
    http://ewtvrecaps.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/http___makeagif-com__media_4-06-2014_hdzfah.gif
  • Where's the thread where I can talk about the book and all the future spoilers? That being said. I'm glad they already came out with who killed Joffrey. I also liked the Brienne and Jaime scene.
Me too! I was afraid we would have to wait several episodes or just get clues about whodunit.
    http://ewtvrecaps.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/http___makeagif-com__media_4-06-2014_hdzfah.gif
  • The Brienne & Jamie scene almost made me cry too.

@Willienelsonsgardener I want to love tit your gif

I still think maybe gramps had something to do with it too. He seemed pretty chummy with grandma and very unphased Joffery was murdered. Maybe he just knew he was a little dick who had it coming? Or maybe he gave the go ahead? I dunno.

I felt dirty for liking Jamie still. My cousin explained what happened in the book vs tv during the rape scene/not suppose to really be rape... And I don't hate Jamie anymore.

Also, if Little Finger did put a nail in the coffin of creepy last night, I don't know what he did. I thought he was going to rape Sansa, #creepydude, dude.

  • Where's the thread where I can talk about the book and all the future spoilers?
I mean, you could start a separate one, I'd go in it. I just put that in the title to save someone's skin before they posted that shit up in here.
  • I'm pretty excited about Jon Snow going to run into (and probably/HOPEFULLY) save Bran and the wolves.
  • I may have to break down and join @luckydad 's group.
where is this group you speak of...
  • @chapski
Gramps like Tywin? Because Margery's gramps couldn't walk when Lady Olenna was done with him. lol. I was not expecting her to say that. Anyway, I don't think anyone liked Joffrey and they were all having trouble controlling him. I wouldn't be surprised if he was in on it because he really is the one controlling everything "for the good of the Lannisters." It will be much easier to do that with Tommen as king. King's Landing is broke too, right? And Highgarden and the Tyrell family are wealthy?

I wonder if Little Finger knows that his future wife is a little off and how that is going to play out. For sure Little Finger isn't just going to let Sansa go on her merry way.
    http://ewtvrecaps.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/http___makeagif-com__media_4-06-2014_hdzfah.gif
  • LMAO yes, Tywin. And thanks for reminding me...
"your grandfather couldn't walk after I was done with him"
    %-(

thanks again for killing that dip shit grams.
  • I heard that there are lots of spoilers in luckydad's group. That it was a safe place for all to talk if you have read the books. I might go check it out and report back.
    Please do.
I didn't read the books, and only know one "spoiler" that I don't even really know if it's true... which is why I wouldn't start a thread for book readers or spoilers, lol, I couldn't contribute much.

I wonder if I should add more about what the grandmother said in my recap? I was like ew.
It made me laugh. I think its what motivated Margery to see Tommen. The Tyrells are definitely motivated if Gramma was willing to go behind her sister's back to get her future husband.

  • With the white walker thing , I told DH if they killed the baby I was never watching again. But I can't figure out how I feel about turning it into one of them. The Sansa story line is starting to skeeve me out
I totally hear ya about the baby, I certainly was like oh hell no... when I saw the baby laying on what I thought was an sacrifice table.

Ya know, Sansa is going to have to grow a set soon. I get that she's kind of laid low for now just to save her head. But every other Stark is kind of a bad ass, and her damsel in distress is starting to annoy me

  • I haven't disliked any episode but yes, I liked last nights.
  • The white walkers turning the babies was interesting and in a way, saves them from certain death.  I don't know if I believe the white walkers are evil.  Remember when Sam was all alone and the white walker looked right at him and let him live?  Sam, like a baby, is an innocent.  I think they save the innocent.

As for Sansa, she has always been and still is a pawn.  She is super valuable right now because she is assumed to be the only living Stark left.

What will the mutineers do with Bran? Will Jon Snow rescue Bran? Will it just be another Stark family near miss reunion?

Once Jon Snow gets word that they have Bran, he'll feel like he has to go.  I think Maester Aemon is the only one on his team right now and perhaps his death was foreshadowed this episode when Alliser commented that Aemon wouldn't be around much longer.  I think if Jon leaves, though, he will have to stay gone and hidden because he'd be a fugitive - I don't think he'd be accepted back as easily / at all, even with Aemon.  I don't think the mutineers would kill Bran because of his value as a Stark.

I thought they already gave Jon the thumbs up to go, in hopes he will get killed. Wasn't that what he did yesterday, pick his team to go?

After that slip, I'm going to bring Daenerys into this. I think her power is going to go to her head and will possibly back fire. She is escalating way fast, even if the masters did deserve to die. Does any one think she should have heeded the advice and met them with mercy?

  • I'm kind of torn on Khalessi. I like her and kind of dig her empowerment. BUT I was hoping she was going to let the slaves give their master a trail or something. I was a tiny bit shocked that she ordered them all killed. At first when she asked how many mile markers had children on them, I thought she was going to order "163" or however many masters to be put up too. I thought killing all of them was a bit much.
  • It was one of the better episodes of te season as far as keeping my interest. I couldn't take the baby stuff though. That gave me the sads all night. I also thought the Bran stuff didn't make much sense. I was pretty mad at how idiotic they were. They deserved to get captured. They were like nine feet from the house, talking loudly about how this was a bad idea. Idiots! Couldn't one of you just go scout?
Dude, TOTALLY! I almost thought it was a joke. They showed them spying then panned out to show where they were, I was thinking "how did they even get that close without being seen?!" So stupid.
felt bad for Hordor (sp) chained up and stabbed like that.
    :(
  • Yeah, I hitched my wagon to the necklace last week. Anything that gets close up camera shots is likely a clue so there's that. I liked that they cut right to the grandma confessing.

But the whole ep had me skeeving right out of my skin. Sansa and the creep, Margaery beginning her seduction of the boy king, the poor tiny cold baby in the woods, and everything at Craster's place. Why did the Reed girl STAND UP from their hiding spot and starting walking around in plain view of rapists?! And where is Bran's wolf?? In a hole?

The only "bright" spot was Jaime being almost valiant and sensible. But that's fucked up too.

I really want to love her, like every time she pops up on the screen I feel guilty that I don't have an I love Khaleesi shirt or something. It seems like every time one of her advisors gives her advice, she doesn't do it, but almost defiantly. My initial reaction when they advised her to show mercy on the masters was for her to do it, but the more I think about it, the more I understand why she doesn't. They told her not to trust that witch, but she did and paid pretty dearly. That being said, in being considered either a conqueror or a liberator, in my eyes she is leaning more towards a conqueror. I don't know if that is in her favor or works against her as she continues towards her ultimate goal. What do you think?

I hated it with a flaming passion. The parts in kings landing were good. The rest was awful.

Because it strayed from the book or just bored?

    @LuckyDad

So did you catch HBO spoiling something that is not in the books?

I don't know if it was a spoiler so much as the plot in the show outran the plot in the books. We don't have the canon lore like the Tolkienites did when those books became film. Our lore is developing in real time as GRRM works with the production team.

I am not being snarky but I really don't know what all this means?
The Tolkien books like The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit were already completed before they made the movies. The author of GoT, George R R Martin (GRRM) still hasn't completed the books, so its more of a collaborative(ish) effort for some of the story lines.

I think she is the most dynamic character.  I like her, too, and that's a good point about the witch! That experience was probably the most influential for her because it ultimately led to her rebirth.  I am leaning towards her keeping her head, but I do reserve room for doubt - especially given her family.

I wish he would finish the damn books already.

Well, I mean come on...he's only had, like, almost two decades.......Shakespeare only wrote 35 plays in the same amount of time!!!!

    Oh, wait........

I like it when he writes prequels about stupid characters.

    Wait. Nope.

  • I might make a comparison to Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, which has a living author who is determined to make sure no version is canonical. Although that's more of a comedy.

  • I assumed that the WWs turning the babies is kind of like Blade (a new breed of WWs that are half human and more powerful). No one had see WWs for many many years...then Craster starts supplying babies and WWs become a serious threat.
