I have been trying to purge paperwork and clean while DD is napping. I am not looking forward to the AM tomorrow. DH won't be back until later tomorrow, so it is my first Monday back at work (yay!) and Reese's first day back at her in home (yay!) Which means I need to leave around 7:00-7:15 to make sure I am able to drop her off and last minute instructions and get to work by 8.
Not looking forward to that! But excited about "normal" again.
DS just had a huge fit because I couldn't explain why some dogs bark and some dogs don't and why different dog's barks sound different to his satisfaction. Apparently "some dogs like to bark and some don't and dog's barks are like our voices--they're all different" wasn't good enough.
He's having a meltdown in his room over it.
I remember having a similar one because my parents couldn't explain why snakes lost their skin all at once while our skin fell off all the time when I was a bit older than he was.
I want to buy my parents a beer. I'm raising myself and it gives me a frequent eye twitch.
@RondackHiker aw little guy, it's hard when you can't ask the question you want to ask because you don't even fully understand the question yourself! Does that make sense?
Maybe you could explain that different breeds have different jobs, and some breeds need to bark a lot for their job and others need to be very, very quiet. And that different barks do different jobs. A loud one tells people to come look, a deep one scares away bad guys, a sharp one tells the sheep which way to turn, a quiet dog doesn't scare the animals on the farm... ? Maybe it will be interesting enough to occupy his mind anyways!
Thanks! Do you want to move in and give me constant parenting advice so I don't mess this up?
He's okay now but he says he feels sad that Frazier doesn't bark because "maybe Frazier would like it if he tried it". That's what we've been telling him about trying new foods and new things. DS isn't happy that the logic doesn't work on the dog, who really just wants to take a nap.
Waiting for my friend/coworker to get here so we can go do some stuff for this local election. Luckily the misty, rainy weather cleared up because I was NOT looking forward to walking in the rain! Oh and I'm kicking myself today because I spent waaaay too much money yesterday. I got some bitchin heels for work, then I went & got a new tattoo...all stuff I didn't need. Ugh!
I'm excited! Another mom messaged me and we're going to meet at a playground so I can show them how to geocache. She's bringing a friend too, so I get to meet two local moms and geocache.
Woke up and baked some overnight Banana fosters French toast. Holy sweetness. Now we are being lazy, watching tv. Really need to find a burst of motivation to clean the floors and fold a bunch of clothes. Blah. Lazyish Sunday over here.
I am just now about to put N down for a nap, then I have to study. Oh, and I am several days behind on laundry-- yay!!!!!!!! So what I'm saying is I will probably day drink. It totes enhances all of the above abilities.

Yes. It's noon on weekends, but actually I even make exceptions to that rule for things like mimosas or "breakfast cocktails" (any cocktail containing oj or grapefruit juice).
Just came in for a juice break with all the kids. It's 70ish & overcast with a cool breeze & feels really good outside.
Kids are so hard to keep entertained these days. They are fighting me on going back outside bc they all wanna play some various electronic devise. Xbox, iPod, DSI, laptop....it's crazy. It's a 6 to 1 ratio, & they are probably going to win out this time.
Also, am currently playing 967 rounds of the "but why?" game with my little niece. Sunday funday!
DH came home and didn't notice my mascara or the fact that I got dressed today. I was sitting with LO on my lap singing her songs and he said "well she looks bored."
Well hello and fuck you too very much.
Oh my God! If my husband did that I would have been like, "Fine, you do it" and promptly gone shopping. Grrrrrrrr...... this makes me ragey
Home from the birthday party. DD did well. They didn't open presents there so crisis averted. The whole way there she kept saying she would "help" the birthday girl open her gifts. Um, no. She had fun, only cried for a second when an evil ball snatcher came around, and then had fun again. Late nap (because early nap was a big fail) and then out to dinner with our friends and their little girl. DD is very excited about the next outing, and so are we because the place we are going has killer BBQ.
@Whenigrowup I can't see tickets to know hold old your dd is, but it helped us to talk a lot about it beforehand so she kind of has a heads up. Might also help if she sees all the other kids there and they're not getting gifts either. Hope it goes ok for you!
She's 3. We talked about it a lot (good idea). On about the 12th time, she got that she wouldn't be opening presents. This made the goody bag at the end all the more confusing, but spectacular for her.
Also, well done on the parents with the goody bag. A few very inexpensive, high-fun treats and they had some happy party-goers. Just like Promposals, we need to shut down the over the top goody bag situation!
I think my kids and I are cooking a bug. Myself and baby have been sleeping like crazy. I can barely get the energy to get out of bed. My energetic toddler is now going on 2.5 hr nap which is crazy for her. She also had two loose stools today.
@Monkeybabe, my gym offers Zumba, so there's several different instructors. If you get a good one, Zumba is the shit! Only one of the instructors plays good songs, though, so that's frustrating.
I have to play soccer today on the indoor team I just re-joined. Fine, but we have a double header, so game at 6, sit for an hour, game at 8. I'm super annoyed by this and trying to think of a way out of the 8:00 game. Who wants to spend 3 hours on a Sunday at an indoor soccer field?!?!

ugh, i have to go through my kid's closet. she shot up a couple inches this winter and all of her cute dresses are way too short now. i've been procrastinating forever on doing that.
