i graduate nursing school in two weeks so needless to say, ive been incredibly busy and havent been able to hang out around here. I just got off of a 19 day stretch of twelve hour shifts between work and school, it was rough by i survived and with graduation around the corner it was so worth it.

im so happy for all the BFPs ive been trying to go through and see what ive missed but its SO MUCH. with school ending baby making is going to go into full gear and im excited to be able to focus on it! i have a ob appt at the end of may.. going to probably be looking for RE referrals and go from there. i hope to be hanging around again alot more, i hope you'll have me :)

and since i just love learning about you ladies lets have a little poll fun !

how old are you?
-and comment if you wish you would of started ttgp sooner, waited longer(if you already have a child) or if you are happy with the time in your life you decided to start a family

  • I'm happy with the time we chose to have the first two. I wish we had tried for a third sooner though...especially now that we're over a year of TTC. :( Didn't really want THIS big of an age gap.

  • I just turned 30 at the start of the year. I was 28 (3 months from 29) when we got married. In retrospect, H and I have gone back and forth about if we should have gotten married sooner (we started NTNP the month before the wedding and trying in earnest after the wedding). Or if we should have actually 'tried' for a couple of months before the wedding.

Looking at it, especially with what could be the issues at play here, there's no guarantee that anything would have happened any differently. We would have gotten to testing a little sooner, maybe? But there was no way to predict that. Honestly, I thought we'd be trying for #2 by now. I'm pretty sure there are people here who were here when I lurked this board (I started lurking 11/12) that got BFPs when I was first trying who will probably lap me.

  • 34 and I always thought it would just happen quickly, so almost a year into TTC and now I think I should have started earlier. I loved being able to enjoy our 20s with no kids but now that I am ready, thinking we should have started a couple of years ago. All that time preventing it, grrr.

  • I'm 32.
DH and I have been married almost 7 years, and I wish we had started TTC sooner. It took us about a year to conceive DD, then I think we waited longer than we should have to start TFAS.

  • I know its common, but I kind of hate the discussion around "waiting vs not waiting."

For me, there was not a significant other to TTC with (consensually, ha!) until DH. I would not really have been in financial shape to pursue egg storage or TTC via sperm donor, much less willingly pursuing single parenthood, sooner.

Do I wish circumstances would have been different? Maybe. But my eggs might have been crappy at 30, too. And how can I regret something that was never really a viable possibility 5 or 10 years ago?

  • I'm 33--we've been married for almost 4 years but together 9.  I wish we would've gotten married younger and ttc earlier.  I want two more kids but I'm feeling my uterus ticking.
  • Congrats on nursing school! Are you finishing your BSN? I've still got 2 years :((
  • Oh as for the other questions... DD was our surprise wedding baby.I wouldn't have had it any other way. She was born a month shy of my25th birthday. I wish we didn't have to wait so long to tfas, but financially we couldn't handle two until now. It is what it is.
  • I turn 30 on Mother's Day :/

And I'm pretty happy with the age that I had DD. I was 26 :)

Hot damn!!! I'm not the oldest one here. I turn the big 4-0 in less than 2 months.

ETA: I didn't read the other part. I had my first 2 boys at 19 and 23. I was really young and I wish I'd waited until I matured especially with my first. Now this one it is what it is, I remarried later but I think I will be better prepared.
    Fucking bump!!!!

I had DD right before I turned 27. I'm happy with our timing so far. I'm not super young, but I'm not old enough to be pressured by my age either.

  • I'm 31.  I wish we had started just a little bit earlier (we actually did try for exactly one month about a year ago before stopping again).  My husband is 3 years younger and it took him a little longer to get fully on board.  Waiting a while longer helped us get more financially ready though, so that's good.  When I was much younger I always thought that 32 sounded like a good age to have a first baby, and if I manage to do that I will be very happy.

I'm 36 and would have loved to have had kids sooner but I didn't meet my H till I was 36 and we got married a month before my 36th birthday.  I'm haven't dated anyone else that I would have wanted to have kids with.

    @RinnyBee & @PeanutRN Happy Birthday!

I'm 25 now. I have always wanted kids. I would have had them way sooner, but DH wasn't ready. Obviously I wanted both of us to be in the right place for them, so we waited. I'm glad we did.

I'm 32, had DD at 29. I'm happy with my time frame. We're planning on just 2 any time before 35 is good for me.
It's funny though, I haven't thought as much about my age (or DH, who is 12 years older than me!) but DD's age. My bro is 11 years older than me & moved out when he was 17 so I didn't grow up w/ a sibling. I'd like DD to have someone to share her childhood with.
    Congrats on finishing school, OP!

And as for your question - I am 28.  I think it's a good time for us to TTC - I had always imagined having kids younger, but life happens and I'm happy with starting now!

I'm 31 and couldn't have done it sooner. I met SO when I was 27, we weren't in a mental or financial position yet, and our relationship had a rocky beginning. Now that we have a house and we are solid I'm barely feeling capable.

I guess I don't bother wishing or thinking what if. Yea getting pregnant in my 20s would have been theoretically ideal but my 20s were a hot mess and the guys I dated were assholes. And here I am lol. I'm just glad I'm happy because I can offer a good life to a baby now. Could never have done that before.
  • We had DD1 right before I turned 27 and DD2 at 28. I'm 30 now. We originally wanted 5 kids before I turn 35 but I don't think that will be happening. My PP AFs have been super slow to return and I've been in no rush to wean. We're thinking 4 now, if we can be that lucky.

  • Congrats on your graduation @Orazzal‌! That's a huge accomplishment.

    Happy birthday @RinnyBee and @PeanutRN!

I'm turning 32 in July. I keep forgetting how old I am. I have no regrets about when we started TTC. I never even wanted kids until recently anyway. In fact, I'm still freaking out about getting pregnant. Obviously that's the goal, but I have a lot of anxiety about the whole thing too.
