Night Feedings

Re: Night Feedings

  • Thanks Ladies! It's been an argument today. I'll be going back to work in less than a month and I've been getting up with her. I travel 30 minutes each way for work and leave my house at 6:45 up at 5:15am. Therefore when I go back to work I'd like him to be used to it but he isn't having it. Just wish there was an easier way. I guess it's a battle I won't win. Oh well!

  • He's up every 3-4 hours.  I do all the night shifts because I'm not working and he is, also he takes care of DD and gets up with her in the morning so that I can sleep in if little man is still sleeping.

  • My baby usually wakes up around 4 am, and I feed her right away, watch some tv, and then feed her again before we go back to bed (awake for about an hour and a half total). I EBF so no choice for DH to do this, but sometimes if LO doesn't want to go to sleep when I'm tired at the end of the day, he'll stay up with her while I get an hour or two head start on sleep.
  • Admittedly we've only been home a couple of days so we're still getting used to things but we are sharing as much of the workload as possible. We are combination feeding so if I BF then DH brings her to me because my CS wound is still sore, and puts her back in the crib afterwards. He is also doing all the changes and fetching bottles from downstairs if we bottle feed. Essentially it means I do whatever I can do from bed (bottle feed or breast feed her, comfort her etc) but DH does all the lifting, fetching etc. He just volunteers to do these things and never complains so he's fab.
  • Usually just once per night...but lo is already one month as of yesterday. Around 10pm, then 3am., then 6am. He was doing every 3hours in the nicu where he was for the first 2 weeks. I tried very hard to bf with very little success (even after 4 sessions with lactation consultants) but was able to pump for him until my supply ran out last week. Now he is on formula which I hate but we are all sleeping pretty good now. I feel spoiled with such an easy going baby but his big brother was a very high needs colicky baby who did not sleep well so I can empathize with those of you up all night. I am on maternity leave so I do all the night feedings but dh would help if I asked.
