Who's moving/has moved during pregnancy?

I've seen a few ppl comment on moving during this pregnancy or a previous one, how was it? How far a long were you? We are moving in less than a month and I'm already feeling like I won't be able to do much, my lower back hurts if I move things around too much (even if they're light) and I get more BH if I don't take it easy (like ridiculously easy). Kinda suckie cuz I usually like getting all organized, and feeling nesty now I want to clean all the stuff

  • We are in the process of moving now. We have about 2 weeks left on escrow. I have pretty much packed up everything we do not need. We will have plenty of help getting it into storage.

We will be staying at the IL's for a bit before we move into the new place. Trying to keep the house nice for showings with a dog/kid was annoying but our home was only on the market for about 6 days so not too bad.

  • Last year DD was due April 9th (she came the 13th) and we moved April 1st. I made sure to label everything really well when DH packed: what was in it & which room in the new house it should end up in. That way on moving day I just had to look at the label and point out the room to take it to. I couldn't carry much so I just directed traffic.

Yes that's a good idea, I've been labeling things as I pack

  • We might be moving. DH has an interview next week and hoping to hear from another company soon too. We would just be moving within the state, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we do!

  • We have a closing date set for May 16th. Fingers crossed all goes well. We have not started packing yet b/c we want to make sure it all goes through. I don't want to pack all of the boxes if something falls through and we will be staying in the condo...We are hiring movers and I will be asking friends/family for help packing. MH will be diong most of the heavy lifting!

  • I started a new job that has a residency requirement at 15 weeks.  We are now house hunting like crazy, but we have at least 12-18 months to move, due to the negotiations in my contract.  Ideally, I'd love to move before baby, as everyone has told me its a nightmare to move with a newborn. Any STM have some experience one way or the other?

  • We moved when I was 28 weeks pregnant with DS across the country. We had packers and movers- so I just supervised and directed. With unpacking, I tried not to overdo it and spaced it out- but it all got done in plenty of time! The most difficult part was finding a new OB that I was comfortable with and a pediatrician.

    Good luck!!

  • We will be moving from Chicago to DC in June around 32 weeks. I've already found a new OB and a pediatrician. We'll have most of our stuff in storage and rent a place for a few months until the baby arrives in August and hopefully by then we'll have found a house and have that process in the works. Not looking forward to packing. Ugh.

  • I moved when we were expecting our son, and will be moving again this pregnancy.  HELLO Military!

It's pretty stressful, but made easier by the fact that they arrange packing, moving, and unpacking for us.  It still sucks.  Changing doctors and reinventing the wheel that is my medical history is the worst part.

This time around we're doing the move when I'm 32 weeks, AND my husband is gone.  So I'm a bit worried about the drive itself.  But I've arranged to have a lot of help from family, so hoping for the best!

  • We close on May 29 (hopefully) so we will be moving when I am around 31 weeks.  I just plan on being beer bitch and ordering people around.  I also am planning on doing all the packing to take some of the burden off H.  I need to book movers ASAP.

  • Wow there is quite a few of us moving!! Good luck ladies!!! I'm excited to move, I just can't wait so I can start on the nursery, I get so jealous when I see the progress some have made with their nurseries. That's when I feel Its gonna hit me, this little guy will be coming out soon!!

  • I put in limbo because we just got a contingent offer on our home and were waiting for the buyer to get things going so depends but most likely we will be! Im slightly nervous and if we dont find something to align up well be living with my mom for a bit.

  • I moved in my first pregnancy at 25 weeks and in my second pregnancy at 30 weeks.

My first move was easy we didn't have a lot of stuff in the first place. The second move was harder since I had to take care of my toddler, and that pregnancy was a lot more difficult then my first. I packed boxes while MH, FIL and BIL moved the boxes and furniture. The hardest part was that we had to live with ILs for awhile so I had to make sure something's went with us and others to the new house.

  • I moved at 16 weeks. It sucked. I was exhausted

  • We moved into a 3 BDRM in the same complex at 19 weeks. We moved almost completely by ourselves (FIs friend helped him move 3 really heavy pieces of furniture.) I lifted what I could, FI did the most. He got the big stuff, I carried boxes upon boxes of light to moderatly heavy stuff. It took about a week total (both of us moving everyday after work)
  • I'm moving tomorrow and I am Not. Excited. At. All....prepare for a venting thread to be written by me in the next few days...

  • We moved when I was 36 weeks pregnant with DS and 10 weeks pregnant with DD (this pregnancy). Moving with DS was so much easier. I don't know if it was because I wasn't nauseous the entire time or if I was just excited to finally set up his room or if it was because I didn't have a toddler to chase on top of moving.

  • I've moved during my previous pregnancy and moved again right before this pregnancy, got pregnant and now dealing with unpacking while pregnant. None was fun but apparently I don't learn my lesson.
  • I'm a special snowflake because I moved in my third trimester last time and I am moving right now and I'm 26 weeks. First time was just across town and we had movers so it wasn't so bad, now this time it is to a far away state with a two year old in tow. Not fun. I think the worst is that his schedule is completely off because first all his stuff got packed and left, and then we had to pack up any remaining toys. So he has been a little wild because of all the change. I'm exhausted from trying to keep him busy. I'm just happy to have my stuff back soon and I haven't even started thinking about a nursery for number two. Also it's just a temporary move so I will get to move back with a 4 year old and another toddler. Good times.
  • I chose special snowflake because I won't be moving during pregnancy, but right after the baby is born. I guess if she is a couple weeks late, it could be during pregnancy though.
