Last night we had our maternity tour at the hospital. I'm pretty much freaking out. I am terrified of giving birth. Can't she come out a different way???
Going to a pot luck lunch/ baby shower at my DF work today and my cookies turned out rather blobish!! That's why I don't bake. O well! Least the store is on the way! And the cookies taste good they just kinda all ran together lol. But I'm ready to see these little twins that the shower is for!!
@cristykaye aw thanks lol! I'm sorry your cookies didn't turn out, I always hate that (but then kinda love it since it means I can keep them all to myself and just buy store bought cookies hehe)
@PinkKel9 I am in denial that these babies are coming out. I am choosing to live in blessed ignorance until about the end of May.
Sitting at MFM waiting for my appointment (growth ultrasound and biophysical profile), and there is an Israeli woman waiting as well. She just got called up to the receptionist's desk, and her name is currently the front runner (perhaps THE name?) for alien baby's name. Considering how unusual the name is, I was tickled it was her name and promptly texted DH.
We flew to Oregon last night for our first shower (tomorrow). I hate flying already and really missed my cocktails. I wore compression socks which helped but I was super embarrassed when I had to ask for the seat belt extender (the seat belt fit but it was super uncomfortable). And today is my birthday and I am getting old, 31. Although I feel sooo much better about this birthday than I did 30, I have a brand new house and a kid one the way, feeling way more accomplished than last year
I told my boss that I'm not coming back after my mat leave this week. It just kind of came out and I was so not prepared for the discussion. He took it really well and seems supportive of my decision, so, yay? But, I felt super guilty anyway. He's been 'grooming' me for management ever since I started and, even though I've hated my job all 4 years I've been here, I feel guilty for not being the long-term employee he hoped I would be.

@sempre_staccato don't feel bad, you have to do what's best for your family. On a random note, I just popped open your blog and and now drooling over your chicken alfredo. That looks soooo good!
Anyone else's "nesting" translating into buying enough of everything to last 10 years and an apocalypse?! Why would I not need 7 bottles of laundry detergent and 30 jars of spaghetti sauce?
My doctor is amazing. After dealing with back spasms for 5 days straight where it hurt to do ANYTHING, she prescribed me a muscle relaxer. I finally got some sleep last night and feel so much better today. The downside is that they make me super sleepy... and one of the two grade levels that I work with are gone today so I have a lot of quietness in my classroom. Don't tell anyone if you find me napping under my desk!
I'm just so happy to feel better now.
@katekat8721 I know - best for my family, and best for me, which I think is why he's so supportive.
Thanks! I was surprised how tasty it was - usually recipes I 'invent' turn out kinda so-so, but that one was really good. (FYI, you can totally just use regular cheese for it. You don't have to use the fancy Kraft stuff.)

I just have to share that while having a conversation with my Boss in the office yesterday, who is male but a Scientist and Father (making him an excellent combo of intelligent and understanding) HE actually asked ME this:
"Do you want to work from home for a while before your due date? Shouldn't we start thinking about that?"
This, along with all sorts of questions about how I'm feeling, answering my questions about how things went with his wife and her pregnancies, and before I left saying, "Well, you look great!"
I told him I would definitely love to WFH before the due date and will let him know when I need to, as it's still too early yet. Part of me doesn't even want to go on leave because I don't like anyone else taking my place. He's the best Manager I've ever had. Don't get me wrong, I don't ever feel like going into my office and dealing with some other co-workers, etc, but I am beyond grateful to have stumbled into this position.
Holy crap! How long have you had to take them? Were they the super fun butt shots that give you welts and bruises?
I started them at 16 weeks. My actual last shot was supposed to be next Thursday but I didn't want to pay for another vial of progesterone just for one shot. My doc said since I haven't had any contractions or signs of preterm labor she'd let me skip the last one. Which thank god I've had to get them all in the same spot on my left hip area so I have a welt the size of a golf ball!

Aw man! I'm glad that baby is doing a-ok and that you got to stop the shots. With IVF you have to take a nightly progesterone shot in the 'love handle' area lol for about 3 months. The welts were painful and the numbing feeling took forever to go away. I feel for you girl!
Random question: would it be tacky if I had printed thank you cards made with a generic thank you written and Henry's picture on it?? It's almost been 3 weeks since my shower and with everything that's happened/going on, I haven't found the time to hand write the thank you cards. Just wanted my June 14 momma's opinions!!
@hubs173 - I think that is a great idea - I personally would love to get a picture of the baby in the mail And I think people will understand you have a lot on your plate right now.
TBH I am impressed you are worrying about it at all!
@hubs173 There is nothing tacky about sending out any sort of TY note while your baby is in the NICU. I'm sure everyone in your life will be super impressed that you even thought about it.

I would, and then hand sign them all. There are some who will say never.

I might be the odd person out, but I think you should always hand write thank you notes. If you want to do the pre-printed card with his picture, fine. You should still acknowledge the individual gifts. The pen will be out since you'll have to address them anyway.

WSS^^ I do love the idea of including a pic on there.
But I also love to write notes and cards. You don't have to write a novel, just maybe a sentence acknowledging their contribution or your appreciation and then hand-sign.
@hubbs173 I'm definitely on team thank-yous-should-always-be-hand-written. It takes a little time but I think it's important. Just make your list of who you need to thank and make a manageable goal- like 5 a day. It will go faster than you think.

i would. people will understand.
This. I'm usually team hand write the card, but you have had a LOT going on mama. I would not be offended as a guest at all to receive a card with Henry's picture - I would love it!
Like Lest said, this something that easily could have slipped through the cracks but the fact that you're choosing to still send cards despite all the crazy shit that's happened speaks volumes.
Just want to say that my whole week has been crazy! I have been off TB almost all week and Ive missed you all. Our receptionist at work quit at the end of last week and lo and behold I was instantly nominated to take over phone coverage etc. for the time being..... nice. Needless to say its been hectic and busy and I am up to my ears but today is Friday its the end of the day and I don't give two shits, I will be bumping for the next hour at least lol.
Also my hubby was side swiped yesterday by some moron who doesn't understand the laws of driving (don't worry ladies he is okay) his truck got beat up on one side and it brought us tonnes of annoying insurance calls etc. not at all what we need right now. I'm really hoping that insurance will pay to fix it and not write it off, we need that second vehicle right now.
Life.
Anyways missed you all, hope everyone is doing well
@joules235 hope you are okay lady and yes I agree today sucks, yesterday was even worse
@Loherrim@chickpea912@otter1103 Well I would love for my avatar change to actually work. Does the yellow flower show up yet? Apparently I have a TB stalker who is using old venting posts against me legally. I might need to invent an AE and just start posting from there. Also spent all morning dealing with something shitty that I no longer feel comfortable posting here. (NBR) I contacted @bumpjackie to see if she could help me out.
So many things come to mind that I could say to "them" right now, chances are they are reading this. Somebody needs a more constructive outlet for their free time.
Oh no, judging from other things you've posted I think I can guess what you're referring too. Hope it gets better, and if you need anything you know we are all here! Feel free to pm me anytime, or like you said, make an AE just to get some release. Thinking of you!
******* @joules235 - ^^Ditto to this! PM me or you know how to reach me other ways too. Hang in there hun! Hugs to you!
Sounds like desperation from that side Joules. Grasping for straws to discredit. And being so old, those posts can't really be viewed as relevant. Lame.
