Teething????

Help!  We have had a rough weekend!  I was called Friday when my LO had a fever of over 102 (she also has a running nose and never ending cough from dc).  I took her to the dr (not her regular one) and they tested her blood.  Couldn't find anything wrong.  She was over the top fussy Saturday and Sunday.  Nothing would make her happy.  Meltdown mode.  We finally took her to the ER on Easter.  They took a pee test and x-ray of her belly.  They discovered she was "backed up" and they cleared her out.  Yesterday she was ok, but needed my attention 24/7 and not her usual self.  Today at daycare they said she was super fussy and kept laying down on the floor.

She has her 3rd and 4th bottom teeth coming in, and she has been fussy before, but not for days!  She is also very lethargic.  Not wanting to play.  What do you think?????

It's not teething, I'd pick her up and bring her to the pedi.

  • What they said, but also if you don't already, (since it's faster to do than finding/buying a kidsme silicone feeder and pack it with crushed up ice so she can chew/suck on that and make her gums feel better and cool down a bit), freeze damp washcloths and encourage chewing on those it will help make her mouth feel better and again at least feel a little cooler. Sorry she's not feeling well, maybe the onset of an ear infection - hope things get better soon.
  • I was going to say (just like PP) that it could be an ear infection.  DS had a 36 hour meltdown and I thought for sure it was teething.  I finally called the pedi and told them I had no idea what to do.  They said it sounded like an ear infection, and low and behold...it was indeed.

  • I agree with pp. Take her to the pedi. 102 fever ia too high for fever. Like Jbunny we too had a weekend like what you described minus the er visit and turned out to be a very bad double ear infection.

My daughter was also the same way...ran a fever up to 104.  The pedi tested and got a positive test for flu.  She was like this from last Thursday to Sunday.  Then the fever stopped and Monday morning she woke up with red spots on her belly and neck and was diagnosed with roseola.  She was MISERABLE up until yesterday, I've never seen her so cranky!
