Npgalr: Summer coming mean swimsuits help!

So every year my Dh and I go on vacation to the lake with his mediate side of the family. Already bummed that I am not aloud on the speed boat bc too rough of a ride. Then comes the topic of swim suits. They are all expensive to wear for five days and not wear again. I will be 21 weeks by the time we would go. But I am a planner and don't like to wait last minute to get everything we need. I usually start in the end of May to begin June. However I know there's more I need to investigate this year and get. So here's my question. I am thinking of maybe getting shirtsleeve rash guard shirts and wearing a bikini under it. What size would you get? I am normally a medium. Would you buy women's or men's? Any other suggestions?

I would recommend waiting a bit and seeing what size your belly is at that point. You can buy a cheap tankini top at Old Navy or Target and just wear your regular bottoms.

I bought a tankini at motherhood maternity and I hate it. My ass is huge, sorry, my legs look like cottage cheese, and the bottoms don't fit anymore. I bought it way too early and now I wish I would've waited to buy one until last minute bc I'll now have to buy new bottoms. Sorry I've been frustrated with the bathing suit topic as well!!! It's just for me, my legs are what gets really big. The top fits my big belly and boobs perfectly.

I got a maternity tankini at Walmart for about $17 last pregnancy. I wore it for one week at the beach. I'll probably break it out once or twice this summer.

I'd wait. You don't know how you are going to develop. I can tell you at 23 weeks, there is NO way I could fit in any normal rash guard, but it really is going to be specific to your body.

For fun I just checked Amazon. They do make and sell maternity rash guards! Maybe look into those? But they look pretty expensive if you're only gonna wear one for a season. So Im in the cheap maternity tankini camp. I bought one last pregnancy from target for like $15 off the clearance rack. It held up well enough that I plan to use it this time too. I remember that I was reluctant to get it as I was a little self conscious about wearing a swim suit. I was sooo glad I got it. Going in any body of water while pregnant was AMAZING! I invited myself over to my inlaws pool more days than I ever did in the 10 years I have been with their son

It cooled me down and my belly just kinda floated taking the weight off my body for a little while. I would have worn anything!

I have a couple of motherhood maternity suits passed down from my cousin so I lucked out not having to worry about it. I would definitely try to stifle the planner in your and wait until closer to scope it out. GL!

Thanks ladies for your input. I will take the advise of waiting and eventually looking into the tankinis. Going shopping with my mom this weekend so I will at least see what's available.
