Help supply going down on one side

I am on day 2 of a work trip. I EP. I use a symphony at home, the freestyle when I'm away from home.

My supply has been fine until now, my 3rd pump of the day and I'm getting almost nothing out of the left side which is usually my rock star. I tried switching flanges thinking maybe the membrane is going bad or something and that didn't help. I always do compressions when I pump.

I don't feel any hard spots that might indicate a plugged duct. I'm not wearing an underwire bra. Have been eating and drinking normal amounts. No medications.

What could be going on??? Maybe just this pump isn't as strong and my supply is starting to dip? I hope not, I only make 28oz a day on average which allows me to barely keep up with baby and build a tiny freezer stash. :-(

Re: Help supply going down on one side

  • Maybe a combination of less powerful pump and being away from baby is causing the problem. Have you tried watching/listening to a recording of your baby? You seem to have everything else covered.

Can you try power pumping tonight once work is finished?

  • I can try that tomorrow when I get home and maybe some skin to skin time this weekend. Definitely regretting agreeing to a work trip :-(

  • I'm sure skin-to-skin and lots of time with LO when you return home will help. I second the power pumping idea and lots of water.

(FWIW, I've had random days when I pump hardly anything but then am back to normal within a day or two. I usually chalk it up to stress or not eating enough.)
