When do stretch marks start to appear?

I still have some from when I grew boobs back in the day ... I don't wanna think about it! ^#(^
  • I am wondering where the stretch marks will show up.    I imagine its probably different for everyone.....but I was putting lotion on my belly before bed last night,  all around my belly button,  below and above, DH told me I need to be putting it on my sides and on my back,  he said I need to put it on my whole torso.    Um.     Do people really get stretch marks on their backs ?

    I am scurrred !

Try SUPERfantabulous! This is the first time I've felt cute in a week & I don't even care if it's only because of my labia.
Agreed! I never realized how lucky I am to have what I have.

I will also be asking DH to pick which one he thinks is closest!

  • Is it true that you get sunburn easier when pregnant?

I just got back from my 1st anniversary trip to the beach where we got married.  Got burned to a crisp.  My husband got a kick out of it since I'm always onto him to put on more sunscreen.  Of course I put spf 50 on 3 times that day and could barely freaking move the rest of the trip because I was in so much pain.  Considering I was extra careful and don't usually burn, I would say so, yes.

  • On the scale of bad, how bad is sushi? Is it lunchmeat level bad or is it drinking 10 alcoholic drinks a day bad or somewhere in between?

I really, really want some and DH and his friend apparently picked a sushi place for our regular Tuesday night out.

Could you get cooked sushi? If not I would just be careful eating the high mercury fish. And make sure it's a reputable place.

Calves!?!  Say it ain't so!  I already have stretch marks on my stomach so I don't really care about that area anymore but my calves no freaking WAY!

I had pre-e though so I gained like 40 lbs of water weight alone.

ETA: @Maelara‌ oh I totally forgot about cooked sushi. Lol!

I think it is like lunch meat level bad. My OB said that sushi in and of itself isn't really dangerous. OB explained that if you ate bad sushi that gave you food poisoning, that is where the danger is. I have never had food poisoning after eating sushi and I know women in Japan apparently do not adhere to that rule. I have gone a few times since BFP and I get things like avocado rolls and cucumber rolls. But I enjoy covering them in pickled ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce, so I am totally satisfied with that.

I'm desperate for sushi too! DH says he won't go with me because he says it's not worth the risk. I bought California rolls at the grocery store the other day, but it did nothing for my sashimi craving :(

I've heard mixed things about sushi. Apparently the main concern is getting food poisoning but if you eat at a reputable place you're supposed to be okay. I haven't made up my mind if I'll cave or not!

I've been eating California rolls with cream cheese.  Those are completely fine.  A lot of the fried sushi is OK too; basically, as long as it's cooked.  Most places have seem to have a lot of cooked options now.  My friend ate spicy tuna rolls during her entire pregnancy and her son is just fine.  I just have a Food Nazi for a DH so I don't have an option (unless I want him to be grumpy which is not fun).  But the CA Rolls are pretty good!!

I ate sushi on a regular basis while pregnant with DS, and no plans to avoid it this time around either.

I just opted for the non-raw rolls: California rolls, shrimp rolls, etc. There was still plenty to choose from.

They know because they have had blood tests done for genetic testing so they find out the gender as well.
I think at least one is going by the "angle of the dangle". I'm getting an intensive ultrasound next week and I plan on asking about my baby's dangle.
  • Thanks for the clarification!! My ultrasound is next week and now I will be asking about the angle of the dangle too. :)

@scarlet3egonias - I got one online from fetaldoppler.net - good price and free shipping.  Haven't used it yet but am going to give it a try next week.

sorry but my ob told me to not even get a California roll or veggi roll because they are rolled on the same spot as the raw fish. I am dying for sushi.  I suppose you could roll your own though!

I'm not worried about stretch marks on my legs as much as I am worried about spider veins. They are very common in my family. I have had a few prepregnancy and it looks like it's gotten worse and I not quite 12 weeks. Ugh - my legs are going to be hideous when this is all done.

  • My "expecting better" book says that the main concern from sushi is food poisoning (e. coli, mostly). It's not as scary as the lunch meat issue because with lunch meat the fear is listeriosis, which is specifically more dangerous to pregnant women. e. coli is unpleasant whether you're pregnant or not.

So if you're going to a reputable place that you've eaten at in the past with no issues, you should be fine. I haven't been out for sushi since my BFP, but it's starting to sound good!

I understand "better safe than sorry" but I'd trust sashimi from my sushi chef way before I'd delve into, say, a bagged salad from, well, anywhere else.

Don't count me out of all of these sushi parties just yet. I know how to roll my own!!

#1. Whoa, lightening vag sounds intense. I feel like you should receive a special siggy button for enduring that.
#2. I really want sushi. Lots of it.
#3. I don't want stretch marks, ever. #4. I wish I were a size 0 or 2. My bloated ass is super jealous.
#5. I just posted about where to buy a doppler in another thread. I should have read this first.
#6. I have my NT scan next week. Do you get bloodwork WITH the scan or is that separate? My OB didn't say...
