GYKY: Bump Name Regrets

Just for fun...

1) Do you still like the Bump name you picked?

2) If you could do it over, what name would you choose, assuming you didn't have to worry if it already belongs to someone else?

Extra credit: Which other Bump peeps do you have a nickname for in your head or always pronounce wrong, even though you know better?

  • I hate mine, it was the one I used when I was on the knot and now I can't change it!

  • I like mine mostly because it's just one word. It's more difficult to tag people when their SN have a bunch of numbers or letters

  • I wish I could change mine. I made it a long time ago, and some people IRL would recognize it and that makes me nervous.

I love mine and I'd totally use it again/elsewhere.

I really like "Janda", and even though I know it's JandA, when I was thinking up character names the other day "Janda" jumped through my mind haha.

(PS I'm not really writing anything, and if I did I'd use a different name. But in my defense I thought to use "Janda" as the name for "the hot but also smart" chick in the story....)
Wasn't there a Janda/Panda discussion at some point? I always think Janda, not JandA too.

I like mine, I am not super creative so this is as good as its going to get. I kind of wish it was my IRL name and my nickname would be TK. Because giving yourself a nickname based on a fake name is totes normal.

I don't like the ones that are just random letters and/or numbers. I feel like I will never be able to distinguish those users by their name so I hope they keep the same avatar or siggy.
  • 1) Do you still like the Bump name you picked?
Actually yes. It has meaning to me, and I think it's fun.

    2) If you could do it over, what name would you choose, assuming you didn't have to worry if it already belongs to someone else?
I might go back to the username I use most places...but that also has the problem of being what I use on other websites, and being able to be found.

Extra credit: Which other Bump peeps do you have a nickname for in your head or always pronounce wrong, even though you know better?
I definitely always say @Janda as janda. I also struggle with @NotElsie because all I know IRL is girls named Elise, so I read it as Not Elise sometimes.
This is why so many people have trouble with my name. I'm sure girls named Elsie get called Elise too. So I kinda screwed myself with my username. lol
  • I changed my name a while ago because my original SN was used elsewhere in my life.  I like it.

I always want to call cjchio, Chicho.  I don't know why.  I don't even know what Chicho means, but I know it's some Spanish term.

Now I'm going to read @cjchio as Ch-ch-ch-chicho.  Thanks.

I don't not like mine, but I've thought about changing it since I'm pretty identifiable if someone I knew in person saw it. I would probably change it to whatever is sitting on my desk when I had to choose because I'm that creative.

The one that I know I pronounce wrong and don't care is @jcsumm0. I always say it as j-shoe-mo. I know the c is before the s and that it's a zero, not an o. Don't care.
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.
  • Mine is my name. LOL
I love my name so I am ok with this... maybe I should have been a little more secretive? But... oh wells.

  • I like my screen name it was created with DS in mind. I know a lot of people have the NN jack off the box lol which kinda makes me giggle. If nothing else they can usually remember me.

I was thinking of using hansolo when we were OAD.

I mispronounce names on the bump ALL THE TIME. Also i hate the names with numbers. Not b/c they are bad, but because i suck at remembering shit.

I like mine as far as a screen name for TB. Basically I chose it because DH and I kept waiting to TTC because in our perfectly planned and organized world we could never decide when a good time to have a baby would be.... Then we realized there would never be a "perfect" time for one reason or another. Therefore (after 10 yrs of marriage) we finally decided now is a good of a time as any ;)
I guess it could have also been "nowornever" but "nowsgood" felt right.

    I'm happy with mine.
If I had to choose, I'd be FrankenLucy, or maybe SallyJessyRaphael.

I'm pretty sure I say everyone else's wrong.  Well, obviously not everyone's, but I throw in random letters and numbers if your name doesn't spell an obvious word or name.

ETA: I apparently didn't choose a unique name. If you google it, a lot of other people come up.

I think mine is stupid.  It is also left over from The Knot and is my maiden name initials.  I worry about privacy but I can't think of anything cool to change it to and I'm too lazy.

  • I had a TK name that I never used because I wasn't ever really active on the boards then. I like my SN now, but I'm sure it's annoying and confusing and unpronounceable to most people. I guess I'd pick something shorter and easier to tag if I changed it.

I actually have a bad habit of paying more attention to sigs than SNs. There are only a few SNs that I recognize.

  • I like my name.  It was the song my grandfather used to sing to me as a child, so it has special meaning ;)

Honestly, I don't really look at people's screen names... I recognize people by their signatures.

  • This is my second username already, so I like it. My first username was the one I used on TK and was too close to my real name. I wanted to be more secretive on TB.

  • I like my name, had it since theknot, although I use it for other things online but also have my pic up, so obvi not so secretive.

I have no idea what I would change it to.

  • My old name used to FutureMrsMagnan which was my SN from theknot. I changed it to MissChristineMarie which is a SN I use for just about everything, so I like it. And it took less than a week to get it changed, which was nice.

I love love love love the sn @SpaceGirlSpiff and wish it were mine. Not gonna lie...
Aw thanks, I'm flattered! As you might assume I am quite the Calvin and Hobbes fiend :)

I am very content with my name, but I had better be considering I went through the trouble of requesting it to be changed from my previous name, which was WarKitten413

I hated the numbers being on my name...and just grew bored with it in general.

I sent an email request to Community@thebump.com I think and listed a reason I wanted it changed and listed a few different options (in order of favorites)...just in case the alternative(s) were taken already ....it actually went through somewhat fast...but I know for others it took awhile.

  • @oursecretelopement‌ Please change your name to SluttyBigb00bZ immediately.
Apparently you can't have "slut" in your name - how's SaltyBigB00bz?
Ooh or HeavingBigB00bz.  That would work, too.

Mine's alright, however, I know a lot of people think I chose it after my favorite Jersey Shore character. Eh, not the case but that's alright.

I'm so not creative so I have no idea what I would change it too.

I have to jump on the "Janda" train, I always say "janda" even thought I know it's "J and A".
@oursecretelopement for some reason I always say "our secret development" I don't know why.
@katnhiding I always in my head say "cat in hiding" Is that what it's supposed to be?
