July 2014 Moms

AW: DH is home!!!

After roughly 6 months away from home, DH finally came home on Monday!

This was my first experience with a deployment (DH hadn't been deployed so far while we've been together), and it was so ridiculously hard. And it wasn't even a "real" one.. I was able to visit him in port 3 times. The whole first experience with pregnancy part didn't help ;-). I have no idea how career military wives/moms do it!

Very excited to have him home for now!!! :x

  • Awesome.  Before we were married, DH used to ship out - 2 months on, 2 months off (which somehow always turned into 6 weeks off with travel and training). After a year of it I told him that I couldn't do that long term.  He wasn't thrilled with it either and found a shoreside position during his next leave. I don't know how military families do it.

He won't be gone that long again for at least over a year, although he will be leaving quite a bit for a week or two at a time (at least once per month, sometimes more).  I think I can totally handle that though! :)

Thanks for the sweet comments everyone!!  I was not a strong woman during this... but many tears were shed, many cookies were consumed, and many retail therapy sessions occurred to get me through it! ;-)

  • Yay!!

The 9 months my husband spent in Afghanistan + the numerous other shorter deployments certainly sucked!

YAYYYYYY! I'm so glad he's back home safe and sound!
  • I'm so glad to hear that he's home :).  Our DH's must have deployed around the same time (oct 2013 here, right before my BFP).  Mine got back about 2 months ago though. Enjoy your time together now that he's home and make sure give yourself and each other plenty of time and space to get back into the swing of life together.  It took us about a month after a 4 month deployment.

  • That is so cute! It brought tears to my eyes. That's the 3rd time today I've gotten teary eyed. And I'm not a big crier. I don't know what's up with me but congratulations that's awesome!

Seeing the little kids there yesterday with signs for their daddies or mommies... I was glad I had sunglasses to hide how much I was tearing up about it!  I was so excited/emotional about these kids I don't even know getting their parents back that I almost forgot I was there for a family member too! ;-)
