Nipple soreness

Assuming my baby is getting a good latch, about how long does the nipple soreness last? I have been breast feeding for almost four days now and it seems like the soreness is getting worse, not better.

    Mine got progressively worse from days 2-6 but then improved steadily after that. After each feeding I expressed some breastmilk and rubbed it on to the sore nipple and let it air dry. Then, I used Motherlove Nipple Cream, it's amazing stuff. I definitely think the breastmilk is what helped my nipples to heal, though.

    I had pain for the first 10-20 seconds after latching for at least 4 weeks.  DD never had a single issue with latch, either - sometimes it just hurts for awhile.
