hates meat

Baby girl loves fruits, veggies, breads but will not touch meat. She makes a funny face then spits it back out. Ant tips to getting her to eat meat?

  • Have you tried any of the Ella's kitchen pouches? My LO loves the chicken casserole ones! For non meat protein he loves black bean burgers.

  • I'm no help, since Em loves to eat meat. However, I have heard that it's very common for babies to dislike meat. In fact, my Inlaws are constantly making comment about how they can't believe Em likes meat.
I would think that as log as your LO is gettin protein and vitamins from other sources, you're probably ok!

  • On its own she's not the biggest fan, but I made a spaghetti sauce with ground beef and extra veggies (puréed) that she scarfs down. She also loves the beef stew I make an purée down for her...
  • R is not a fan either, but she will eat a little bit.  She likes other proteins and, apparently CFA chicken fingers.  We've tried whole, shredded and ground, chicken, turkey, hamburger, steak, ham, pork, tuna, other fish and it's really a bite or two and she'd done with it, if that much.

  • She's eaten fish and liked that but DH refuses to eat it so unless I make 2 seperate meals that is out. Maybe I will keep trying with different seasonings. See if that helps.

  • Just keep trying! L was firmly against any type of meat until the last few weeks, and she's been eating our meals since 8 months. I would always put a little on her tray and she would try it and spit it right out. I think it was bbq turkey that she finally decided she liked, and now she regularly eats turkey, venison, chicken and fish.

  • My LO isn't in love with meats but he will eat them - more so when I dip it in a little apple sauce (which probably isn't the best idea).
  • DD didn't like the meat purees very much, but will eat the finger foods.  Favorites are hamburger, ham, and chicken so far.

  • LO does well with rotiseree chicken, chicken nuggets diced up, ground beef just browned and loose, hamburgers chopped up and various white fish.

We make meatballs and mini loaves with ground turkey, quinoa and a variety of veggies mixed in that go over well. Otherwise we usually get the chew and spit but we keep trying and every so often he eats a bunch.

  • LO just started eating meats in the stage 3 Gerber jars. (Turkey and veggies, chicken noodle, herbed chicken with pasta). Before, she'd always spit out the jarred meat. I haven't tried to give her real meat yet.
