Jumping over from May14. I recently gave birth to my third child on April 12. Since he's a preemie, I've been EPing, with supplemental nursing during his tube feedings. With my first, I had under supply issues and started supplementing at 6 months. He fully weaned at 10 months when I got pregnant with DD. I pumped while my daughter was in the NICU and for 2 months after she passed away to donate, and had no supply issues. With each pregnancy, my breasts have gotten increasingly larger, and they've not shrunk between pregnancies. I started pumping right away when DS2 went to the NICU. At the end of my pregnancy, I was already sitting at a 32G/H. The LC noticed that by day 3 pp, there was marked size difference, and she had me cut my pump session lengths in half because she was afraid that my milk ducts would collapse under the strain of the weight of themselves plus the rapid growth.
I now pump 7 times/day for 15 minutes a session and get 6-8 oz per session. It's been steadily increasing for the last 9 days. Though this is my 3rd rodeo, I have a bunch of new questions.
At what point will the size of my breasts stabilize so I can go get fitted for new bras?
Where can I go to find good nursing bras for a 32 I? J? size? What about for sleeping?
When I lie on my back to sleep, I have a hard time breathing because of the weight of them on my chest. When I lie on my side, I can feel the breast tissue straining and I wake up with clogged ducts. Any suggestions? Which type of doctor would I discuss this with? My OB? A lactation consultant?
Re: Intro and Several Questions
For the sleeping issue, what about a hot shower or heated compress with breast massage before bed? Can you prop yourself on pillows and sleep on your back semi reclined?
