XP: When did your milk come in?

Hi ladies. I am concerned because the LC at the hospital mentioned that my hashinimotos (thyroid) condition and my PCOS could interfere with my production/supply. I'm currently 91 hours post delivery and still nothing. I'm working with a LC who has suggested pumping after each feed to get my supply going. Just wondering if this is more normal than I realize and am worrying unneccessarily. Bonus points if any of you also have thyroid or PCOS issues, please mention in the comments. TIA!

I should note that as of yesterday my breasts are fuller and heavier but no soreness or signs of engorgement.

I'm not exactly sure. My breasts got bigger and heavier, but I never got the heat, pain, and engorgement I expected. At the 5 day pedi appt, I told the LC I thought LO was swallowing more but I wasn't sure my milk was in. She gave a feel and assured me it was. I think around day 3.
Similar situation.  I wasn't really sure when my milk came in, but it seemed to happen within 3ish days.

I have atypical PCOS, but I think that I had pretty normal prolactin levels when I was tested to diagonse the PCOS.  So I think that was an encouraging sign.

  • Mine came in on day 5, and I don't have any medical issues. DD was born via csection, which I've seen some sources say results in a delay in milk coming in.

  • I also have atypical PCOS and I would say mine came in around day 5 or 6. The LC in the hospital scared me when she shared many women with PCOS have supply issues. I'm now 3 weeks into EBF twins though with no issues so it's not always right!

Like some others though I didn't "feel" my milk come in and was never engorged I just slowly got more and more when I was pumping. Similarly I never feel my milk let down but babies are gaining weight and have enough wet/dirty diapers so I'm not worried!
  • Mine came in on Day 5, I noticed that I was a littler fuller on day 4, but didnt really feel engorged until the morning of day 5. It was fine from then on, I did not do any extra pumping, just kept getting LO to latch

No thyroid issues here.  Baby was born at 11:45 on a Monday night, saw her mouth full of milk for the first time on Thursday night about that time.  My  boobs got a little heavier, but I was never engorged.

  • I have PCOS. LO was born on a Thursday night and my milk came in Monday morning. I've never felt really engorged and don't feel letdown. LO has always been satisfied, adequate diapers, and gains well.

I spent a lot of time laying in bed doing skin to skin with LO only needing to turn his head to nurse in the early days.

  • No thyroid issues, but it took awhile with DS1. I had him Monday evening and it was Thursday-almost Friday by the time my milk came in. It was much shorter with DS2...maybe 48 hours?
  • I think mine was somewhere around 100 hours. He was born Saturday afternoon and it was late Thursday, I believe.

No medical issues. Just kept offering the breast all day long and it came in fine.
