I'm sorry. In addition to not being a doctor, I never did a 3D with my DS so I have no clue. Definitely bring the photo and your concerns to your OB tomorrow.

My thoughts would be you will have to wait to talk to your doctor. From what I've read there is little (to nothing) they can do for a cleft pallet when the baby is still in the womb so unfortunately you may not get the reassurance you want until your baby comes in September. I think worrying is only going to stress you out.

Your friend sounds like she was out of line. Sometimes emergencies come up and you have to wait.

Posting this picture asking if something is wrong is up there with guessing the sex of the baby. Especially considering the losses this week.

I would hope the tech wouldn't rush or withhold information just because they were upset or mad. Every ultra sound I've had has been reviewed by the dr. I would just give them a call if you have any concerns. I do hope the dr is able to help you today.

I am surprised when I go the dr comes in after the tech does and looks themselves as well.  I guess they don't do that where you go?  I can't imagine someone so angry that they wouldn't tell you about a clef lip.

I don't know enough medically to say anything but I hope it works out.

Most of the time ultrasound techs are not allowed to give you information such as that. Our techs can us baby is alive, what the heart rate is, what side she's on, point out things like fingers and toes... But when it comes to any "issues" they may find they won't say anything. They take the photos needed with measurements and then have the doctor review them before talking to you.

If you are really nervous then give your OB a call and ask if the doctor has had the chance to look over your results.

And I agree with PP.... Your friend sounds like a complete ass whom I would never take to an appointment again.

    Completely agree @MrsLaLaBug‌

OP i know you're worried but you know we can't give you anymore info besides calling your OB.

Cleft palates are completely fixable. I have a little girl in my class who was born with one. You would never know it and she's one of my most adorable and sweetest girls.

Totally not your fault, As usual. You do realize that a cleft palate IS fixable? You are still pregnant and after all that has happened this past week THIS is what you choose to post? And please don't pull the play dumb card because you've been around to see how similar posts of this nature pan out.

    Amen, Lala. Amen.

U/s techs can't diagnose anything...they're not doctors. Also, 3D u/s' s are still pretty crappy quality. Cleft palate is a cosmetic issue...I understand that you want your baby to be "perfect", but like others said, it's fixable.

@carmstr4‌ @MrsLaLaBug‌ , I am sorry for being insensitive.. I actually haven't been on in awhile, I knew there was a loss, but didn't know to what extent or how many..

@brittneyandadam‌ as in my ethnicity or where i live?

There wasn't ONE.  There have been several.  Over 50, if you want to get technical.

@MrsLaLaBug‌ - I was only aware of one, I'm in the midst of lurking and wow. I feel like a complete ass. My petty issue is nothing compared to the other moms.

I gave you a helpful...and really the only answer possible....talk to your doctor because this isn't the pain Olympics and we all have concerns about our LOs.

But please pay more attention to what is happening on the board. The timing of this question rubbed a lot of us wrong.

ETA: Yes, you didn't post at all between the 14th and yesterday....but you were on yesterday and the loss threads are still on the first page because people are still wishing their condolences, and the recent losses are stickied in the S14AngelBaby post, and the losses are mentioned in most of the Ticker Change Day threads and often brought up in other threads....since many of us have heavy hearts for our mamas, and there's a thread about loss remembrance badges, and and and....you should have noticed!!!

You know what? I don't believe you didn't notice.

THIS.  If you were "lurking" as you say, it would have been kinda hard not to notice since you did happen to comment on several posts that were right in the middle of these loss posts... where "loss mentioned" is clearly stated in the title, I might add...
As per usual, I smell a crawfish...

@MrsLaLaBug‌ @mrsdanielleM2010‌ @trombgirl‌ - I'm being honest here. I legit skimmed thru the posts. I didn't read every single one. Give a girl some slack here. I'm sorry! I do post T&Ps when needed and do not always post only about myself. C'mon ladies.

I'm sorry, but no.  You get no slack for not knowing what's going on around here and expecting everyone to run to you with support.  I "legit" can't buy that you missed what has been going on here.

Instead: "I just got back from my A/S, everything looks good, but I'm concerned about the baby maybe having a cleft palate.  Does anyone have experience with how this gets confirmed?  If he is born with this, what are the things I should do to prepare?"

If your post read like that, you would have gotten a lot of "call your doctor" and maybe some advice from anyone with some experience.  Probably even a bunch of people, including me, would have said "no experience but I hope everything is ok!"

From her perspective it is rather hurtful to just say a cleft is "fixable" like it's no big deal. In fact she shared a blog that stated it is the #1 thing not to say to cleft parents. The amount of surgeries, pain, therapy, feeding/weight issues and early delays... She still practically lives at the Children's hospital and he is 3. Im sure you didn't mean it but it almost sounds as though it was trivialized. Clefts are a big deal and if someone legit found out their baby had it, they shouldnt be flamed for being disappointed bc it means a very long haul for those parents. Of course nothing.... Nothing is even close to as tragic as losing a baby but it is quite possible someone will post news of a cleft or spinal bifida or other issue and all are worthy of some disappointment and concern. Im sure it wasnt meant that way but from someone who was there through the surgeries and saw her watch her baby in pain and suffering... I just had to say... Clefts arent a small deal.
Perhaps if mbano had phrased her op as suggested, you would have even been able to direct her to your friend's blog.  This is what I mean by concern v. drama.  Nobody would trivialize a cleft palate EXCEPT in the context of the op's tone.  Cleft palate was almost an afterthought in the post, which is why she got the responses she did.

Agreed. Cleft Palette is a big deal and any parent facing it deserves support. Like @mrsdanielleM2010 said though...it seemed an afterthought of mbano's post. The majority of the post centered around her shitty friend's shitty behavior toward the tech and the tech possibly holding back important medical info because of it.

MBano, on a serious note....if you do hear back from your doctor that your LO does have cleft palette you do have our support. Just leave the pointless drama out of it and please LOOK AROUND YOU before you post.

To all the ladies above. (My iPad is being slow and am unable to tag) I full heartedly agree with your suggestions. I dd'd bc I wanted to show that my post was of non importance compared to those who are really going through something right now. I tried to show good faith. Again, I am sorry. I worded it completely wrong.

Your concerns for your LO are always valid mbano. You said in your OP that you had an appointment today. How did that go? Did you ask about your u/s?

@crystalangel79 I am also guilty of just pointing out that a cleft palate can be fixed....I in no way meant to imply that it was a "small deal" or something that mothers shouldn't be concerned about.  I apologize if it came across that way. I was just trying to make the point that a cleft palate is something that can be managed but there is nothing that can fix a loss. Thank you for your post...and I hope your friend's LO is doing ok!
