I got a summons yesterday for federal jury duty in June. Pretty sure I have a valid excuse to get out of it! On a side note, I have always wanted to go to jury duty (maybe not federal, that seems scary) so I am slightly bummed about the timing.
Check the laws in your state. Pregnancy will get you out of it, but they may reschedule you. My neighbor was summoned two weeks before her due date and was excused. They rescheduled her for only 2 months later and she is EBFing which is NOT excusable in my state. Just a heads up that they might make you go anyway and while you're on maternity leave at that.
The papers included valid excuses and listed caring for a child under 12 and being a teacher, which are both true for me so hopefully I will be ok!
I've had jury duty twice and sat trial both times! The most interesting thing for me was to see how seriously the jurors take their responsibility, even with smaller offenses. Because everyone seems so miserable about having to go to jury duty in general, it surprised me how into it everyone got.
ETA - it kind of restored my faith in humanity a little bit!
Went to BRU tonight to return some stuff we got duplicates of at our shower. I walked through the clearance section and noticed that they had a high chair that we had wanted on our registry. It was marked down from $150 to $99. I also had a 15% off coupon for one regular priced item. They took the 15% off of that instead of the other item we got which was cheaper. We ended up getting our high chair for $85. I love a good deal!!!

I'm sorry @Rachel5130 . That's really scary.
I met a retired cop today and thanked her for her service. Thanks to you and your husband, too. I couldn't do what he does and I know it can't be easy for you, either.
I need advice. I've had a horrible, hacking cough that is in my chest for about a week. My voice is going in and out. I'm hydrating and taking Tylenol and cough drops. Should I go to the dr? I don't have a primary care dr really so it would probably be a zoom care clinic. I know I can't really take anything. I don't know what to do
@elsa1688 I was sick with a sore throat and cough and went to an urgent care clinic and they wouldn't give me anything because I was pregnant. they told me to call my OB and ask what they wanted me to do for it so maybe you could get away with just calling and asking first? they might have an answer for you. just a thought hope you feel better soon!
Thanks ladies! I had a very minor, low grade fever a few times but it stayed under 99.9 and most doctors only recommend Tylenol at that level. There is a nasty cough going around our area but DF is getting worried. I will send my midwife an email
@elsa1688 Have you been using a humidifier. I find that really helpful when I'm congested.
Yup - Humidifier, hot showers, Vicks, eucalyptus essential oil, all the normal tricks. I'm only really concerned because its been a week and isn't getting better.
Thanks joules! I know its silly to ask for medical advice on the interwebs, I just usually am not a "go see the dr" person but I don't want to be reckless. I emailed my midwife and they should have some clear direction on what is needed.
@elsa1688 - I had something similar. I finally called because when I would cough my phlegm was not clear anymore. My OB sent me to my PCP. I had an upper respiratory infection and asthma! Wtf?! Haven't used an inhaler in 10 years and now I have two! (Plus they gave me a z-pack, and singulair) I also apparently have allergies... Also new.
@crhein26 - we took advantage of the BRU clearance too. Had to return a couple registry items then just wandered around the store. Came to a clearance corner and found a Mamaroo swing for $170. With our store credit we got it for $130 which was only $15 more than the original swing we had on our registry anyway and it can take the place of a bouncy seat as well. If LO ends up hating it, we should get close to what we paid for the resale value. Now I wish I could get an adult version of it to relax in!

I have said this same thing about DD's snugabunny swing. There is actually this DIY swinging recycled trampoline bed that I really want to make.
This is awesome! Now which trampoline do I steal after a the next wind storm to make this with...
Seriously, I just want to cry! My sister called me tonight to tell me that she has been contemplating for a long time and finally made the decision to move to San Diego from MI at the end of June. I'm am over the moon excited for her and couldn't be more proud of the woman she is becoming, but I'm just sad and want to sit in the corner and sob. I have 3 sisters from my dad and a brother and sister from my mom. I'm the only child from my parents. Anyways, this is my oldest sister who also happens to be a twin. She's the oldest by a minute and because of that, I want her to be my little girls Godmother. I still plan to ask her once DD is here, but I selfishly want to chain my sister up and make her stay. Again, I'm so happy for her...I just needed a moment to be a SS. Now I'm going to go enjoy the second ice cream cone for the night while I cry thinking about my baby sister moving across the country.

@joules235 and @chickpea912, I'm alive! Sorry I've been MIA, guys. Between getting ready for the baby, 4th marking period at school, and my impending graduation from my Master's program (I defend my thesis tomorrow), I've been just barely keeping my head above water. No time for fun!
I hope everyone is doing well, and I promise...I'll be back soon.
xoxo

My midwife ok'ed basic Robitussin for my cough and the zoom clinic gave me a Z pack because there's a chance I have walking pneumonia. Yikes.
I hope everyone is doing well, and I promise...I'll be back soon.
