I wear her, but if that's not your thing you can put the car seat in the cart (the large back part, not on the baby seat), or if it's a small trip bring the stroller and a re-usable bag.
I wear baby in the grocery. They stay calm that way and I don't have to worry about lugging the seat with the groceries. Plus I have two other kids so I need my hands.
I just shopped yesterday, actually! Kiddo sat in the front part of the kid cart (thank goodness for the carts that look like cars!) and I wore Tessa. I get so super judgey when I see people with precariously perched car seats in top of the cart.
Don't the carseats clip down into the front of the cart??? They always used to and ours does though we mostly wear DD. Have rules changed about the car seat in the cart?
@Airynn Chica, They're not meant to. Even if it does "click." In fact it can damage the mechanism in it and cause it to not connect correctly to the base.
And it can make the cart top-heavy and cause the whole thing to tip over....or someone could bump into you and knock the car seat out of the cart. It's really not safe, even though a lot of people seem to do it.
So far we've only gone grocery shopping with both H and I together, so one of us pushes the cart while the other pushes the stroller. We normally shop together, so I don't envision either of us doing a "big shop" on our own any time soon. But if we do, we've decided to either put LO in the Ergo or use one of the carts with the built-in infant seat.
Either in the car seat and put the car seat in the BIG basket. Or wear baby. Or find a cart with a built in baby seat. NEVER put the car seat in the child seat.
Same as others -- I mostly babywear but sometimes put the car seat in the big part of the cart or, if it's a small trip, use the basket under the snap-n-go stroller.
When I take both kids solo, I'll definitely be babywearing while DD rides.
I did my first solo grocery trip today, and used the Ergo. Logan slept through the trip, and while it took me about 5 minutes in the back seat to get him all strapped in properly, it was worth it. And I had a reason to accept help out without feeling guilty.
Wow thanks for all of the great advice! I've got the moby although that needs way more practice before attempting in public, plus my csection incision is still a bit sore with it on. Also have the ergo but no nb insert and haven't checked to see if he fits in there yet. But I think baby wearing will definitely be the way to go! Some of my grocery trips u definitely wouldn't be able to fit all the crap I buy plus car seat in the basket!
I can't put her in the bottom? Maybe people won't see her and try to touch her and then I won't have to tazer them....jk no grocery store for PF! I do like the idea of wearing them. Are people less likely to touch them when they are attached to your body?
You can totally put the carseat in the big part of the cart. But that doesn't leave room for a lot of groceries. And personally, I'm kind of paranoid, and I'd be really worried that something would fall off a shelf and onto the baby (or that somebody would knock something off a shelf and it would land on the baby). I guess it's no more likely to happen if the baby is in the bottom of the cart than it would be if he was in his stroller, and you could totally position the cart so it wasn't anywhere near the shelves (so nothing could fall on him). But yeah, still paranoid.

Then we had you.
Now we are complete.
