I want to be able to move around, go pee, go watch tv , get on my bouncing ball and not give birth roach style while having people yell in my ear to push.
Where can you not do this?  It's not like you go to the hospital the minute you get your first contraction. I'm in Florida too and my hospital wouldn't do anything if I didn't ok it. No one yelled at me.

I'm not bashing your choice of home birth, more power to you, I just don't understand the hospital hate.

  • @bcbuzzafsu Wait.. where in any of my posts did I say I hate hospitals. PLEASE refer back to where I said, I get ANXIETY being in a hospital. Would you like to feel anxiety or stress during birth? I sure wouldn't so why would I put myself in a position where I would be stressed out?

    THANKS!

  • @Anaguisbell I quoted what I was referring to.  Also there are others in this thread who seem to dislike hospitals because they won't let you pee, sit on a ball, etc. I understand anxiety, I would have hardcore anxiety if I had my baby at home and I'm not judging you for wanting to lower your stress levels at birth.

I just wanted to know where you are going (or not going actually) that they will  not let you do those things and then shout at you.

  • bcbuzzafsu..ahh I see what you mean.. No, I meant I didn't want to be laying down on my back giving birth. you know how there's doctors and nurses telling you to push every minute... yea I want to push at my own pace if there's nothing medically wrong.. I don't want to be rushed. I don't know where in Florida you live, but I live in Miami. Again, I searched as many OB'S as I can and I didn't feel comfortable with many of them and the ones I did find who have the same mentality that I have in regards to my comfort while giving birth are NOWHERE near me. the Closest is 3 hours away. I'm not driving 3 hours away to give birth.

  • Home births scare me. I want my epidural! With DS I was able to labor for a few hours before I got the epidural and I would like to do that again. I used a labor tub and it was amazing for a while, and I highly recommend using a tub! I wouldn't feel comfortable birthing at home though, therefore I don't think I would progress well through labor.

As you said you're across the street from the hospital and it sounds like you have done your research. I would double check about your insurance if you have complications and need a hospital transfer.
