I'm in a similar situation, C has had a stomach bug since Monday. Pedi hasn't really done anything about it. She said if it continues or gets more severe by Friday, that she'll prescribe her an antibiotic.
When he pukes is it from coughing or out of the blue?
It sounds to me like a stomach bug and not a sore throat. If solids are making him puke, I would just stick to bm/formula (can't remember which you do) or even some pedialyte may be good with the diarrhea.
J had this a few weeks ago and it lasted for 10 days. She would projectile vomit any time we tried to feed her solids so we just took a break for a few days.
No magic pill just time. Most important thing is to make sure he stays hydrated. Hope he feels better soon!

Why would your Pedi put her on antibiotics for a tummy bug? That doesn't make any sense.

If you ever need advice on something like this, I would suggest the nurse advice line that may be available through your insurance company. We have called then twice with baby health questions. The nurses were very helpful. They walked us through actions to take at home (pedialyte, diet changes, meds to give, what to watch for....) and recommended if we should make an appt, call the on-call doc, go to the ER or urgent care, or treat at home. I was very impressed with the service!

If you want to get technical, it might be a bad case of gastroenteritis, which is sometimes caused by bacteria. Yes, there are viruses that cause it, which in that case, you can't really do anything. I guess they just want to at least try it if it becomes severe.

----- Even if gastro is caused by bacteria such as ecoli or salmonella, you don't use antibiotics to treat. In fact, antibiotics can sometimes make the problem worse. Big no no...
@kelly422 Definitely not! I was simply promoting the service that we have used for guidance in the past. If she couldn't wait for you to respond she could turn to them for advice right away. Sorry if you took my comment personally, it wasn't intended that way at all.
ETA kelly422 I think you are a great resource to the J13 ladies. You have great recommendations for all ailments. I am an RN and occasionally throw in my 2 cents from practice and personal experience, but my suggestions are never as thorough as yours.
