  • I'm in a similar situation, C has had a stomach bug since Monday. Pedi hasn't really done anything about it. She said if it continues or gets more severe by Friday, that she'll prescribe her an antibiotic.

  • @kelly422‌ thanks, I love you!

    Anytime, dear :)
  • If you ever need advice on something like this, I would suggest the nurse advice line that may be available through your insurance company. We have called then twice with baby health questions. The nurses were very helpful. They walked us through actions to take at home (pedialyte, diet changes, meds to give, what to watch for....) and recommended if we should make an appt, call the on-call doc, go to the ER or urgent care, or treat at home. I was very impressed with the service!

Was this a bash at me and my advice?!

Why would your Pedi put her on antibiotics for a tummy bug? That doesn't make any sense. ETA broken tag @Beary+Ghastly‌
If you want to get technical, it might be a bad case of gastroenteritis, which is sometimes caused by bacteria. Yes, there are viruses that cause it, which in that case, you can't really do anything. I guess they just want to at least try it if it becomes severe.

Even if gastro is caused by bacteria such as ecoli or salmonella, you don't use antibiotics to treat. In fact, antibiotics can sometimes make the problem worse. Big no no...
