Does how high your temp go matter? I have found I generally have a higher temp before I O then most people and I have noticed it never really spikes super high after that, I have only been charting two months and both times have had enough of a shift to confirm O. However, my coverline is generally around 98.0 and my highest temp both cycles wasn't too much higher than that. I notice that a lot of woman have a steady incline in their temps from their coverline, should I be concerned? Or is it fine as long as I can see enough of an increase to get CHs? I hope that makes sense! I linked my chart :
As long as you are able to detect ovulation, I wouldn't worry. The temperature for your CL doesn't mean anything and can vary from person to person and even cycle to cycle.

It seems like my LP is decreasing each month. I am on my 4th cycle post loss 6th cycle overall. How many short LPs should I wait for before talking to my doctor? And is it under ten days or ten days of less? Thanks

I have been temping for the past 7 cycles, I used OPK's for 4 or 5 cycles too. My last cycle was weird, and since I was just temping it was hard to decipher. I am going to try OPK's again but also wanted to start checking CM. I have shied away from it because of the whole 2 fingers going in dry thing. That doesn't sound pleasant. Any advice on making it less uncomfortable? I was thinking doing it while I'm laying in bed just after temping, but what if I have a sex dream or something? I thought I read in TCOYF or somewhere that arousal fluid can be mistaken for EWCM. I should maybe do it after a boring meeting then or something
TL;DR: Any advice on checking CM would be greatly appreciated!

@ToryKate have you actually tried it yet? 2 fingers going in really isn't that big of a deal. I usually check when I'm on the toilet (before I go). Kind of swirl your fingers around your cervix and scoop it out.

This. Also some women have enough CM that they can check externally. I would never have seen EWCM if I checked externally only.

@torykate I only use one finger usually. I swirl around and scoop. I have to use my middle finger because I have tiny baby toddler hands. I never have CM externally unless it is creamy. I don't know what the hell that is about. It doesn't hurt and you don't need to really push on your cervix, just enough to feel it and then scoop a little. Just make sure you wash your hands before and after (obviously).

A strange question. nttgpr. WHERE has my birth month gone to? My August 2011 is gone.
I was only able to find it by going into my notifications from a recent reply in one of my posts. But in the community it no longer gives the option to go there. Its only 2012-2015 now.
Ok now I have a newbie question... what is the significance or shorter luteal phases? In all of my internet research, I've not come across this. I'm assuming the only want to know luteal phase length is charting? This thread (and maybe another I read on here today) have mentioned somethign about 3 short luteal phases= see a doctor.
Sorry... I said it was a total newb question.
Someone else can probably hit this with more depth but 3 months of LP<10 days = lutuel phase defect. Apparently if you have one of these it can be more difficult for a fertilized embryo to implant in the uterine lining because your lining is being shed quickly. Sometime implantation doesn't even occur until 10 days (and even later) so if you are already shedding your lining, that's not a good thing. You can see a doctor who can help extend your LP.
Ok, so running with the LP topic, do you ignore pre-AF spotting and only say your LP ends when you have enough blood to need a tampon/pad? I normally start spotting on 8 or 9 dpo and then get AF on 10 (or sometimes 11) dpo. Would I be correct that I usually have a 10 day LP?

Yes. First day of full flow is CD1

Will your lining thicken the longer you go without a period?
Not necessarily. If your hormones are messed up and your estrogen is too low, your lining won't thicken. This is why some women with long annovulatory cycles can start meds without having a period, their lining is already thin.

Wait... damn... I thought the first day of any blood (even if not enough to soak a tampon) was CD1... goddamnit I thought I read this in the noobie blog.
Nope, spotting isn't considered CD1. Only enough flow for a pad or tampon. You may be thinking that bright red spotting is probably not implantation bleeding?
If you put spotting in FF, it doesn't change to a new cycle. Only when you input "light" or more does it give you a new chart. So spotting doesn't = period.

But if that "spotting" just gets heavier and heavier and becomes my period, then... count it? Don't count it?
Just to get you guys up close and personal with my lady parts... Monday (CD 32) I had some brown spotting... which was there every single time I wiped. And by Tuesday morning, it was pinkish and still there at every wipe... by Tuesday afternoon is was a straight up period with cramps.
So is Monday the start of my period? Or Tuesday
Did you have to put a tampon/pad in for Monday? No = spotting
From this description I would say you started Tuesday.
One day isn't going to mess you up in fertility friend as long as you are temping.

I almost posted this question on the main board but got nervous because it seems like a newb question, so I'm going to post here
Does anyone know what's considered normal levels of progesterone, after O? After talking with my CNM about my loss, short side of normal LP length, and erratic cycle lengths at my annual exam last month, she suggested testing my progesterone that day, even though I was 9dpo instead of 7dpo. I finally got the results today and saw that it was 7.2. I don't know if that is normal or low, and unfortunately, I can't remember the cut off she gave me at the appt.; She had said that if it was less than ___ then we would test again at 7dpo in the next cycle. I got the result via the online patient portal and there was no explanation or instructions included. I am going to call tomorrow to talk to someone about this, but I just wanted to have a little knowledge on the subject first.
tl;dr My progesterone was 7.2 at 9dpo last cycle; Is that low? Is this all a bunch of crap because it's stupid to test at 9dpo?
Edited for wording.

@Snickerdoodle24 -- I believe anything over 3 means you ovulated. At 7 DPO in an unmediated cycle, the number "they" look for is 10. I wouldn't trust a 9 DPO draw, though, since that isn't the standard by which you can compare results.

Thanks for the help, @muskiefan07. Ok, so I think I'll talk to her tomorrow about retesting at 7dpo this cycle.

@mrsattygal thanks for the suggestion. It was helpful to see your chart. I just got lesson 13 of FF last night too and it looks like there can be quite a lot of variation day to day and it still picks up the pattern. I'm going to try to figure out how to link mine too.
Probably a really dumb question, but how do I add gifs to a post??
If you're on a desktop or laptop, you google an image, copy the location address and press the button above the reply box that looks like a picture (if you hover over it, it says "Insert Image"). Paste the address in there and voila!
I still haven't figured out mobile gif'ing myself, but I know there's a pretty simple way to do it.
For mobile, copy the image url and type and post reply.

Ok probably dumb question -- I can't figure out how to chart my CM lately. It's creamy/cloudy, but also stretchy. I tried to google and I think it said to count it as EWCM? I've had clear and very stretchy EWCM, and this doesn't seem like that. But it does stretch about an inch. And it's been like this for 4 or 5 days now.

@nittanymama, always count the most fertile aspects of it. If it's stretchy I would count it as EWCM. EWCM sometimes comes in different colors/consistency.
Thanks, that's what I thought, I just wanted confirmation!
