How are your kids feeling?

I'm just curious as to how everyone's kids are doing with their siblings coming soon?

Mine are so beyond excited and starting to get antsy. DS (5) is getting frustrated that she's not here yet, poor kid.

DD(8) keeps asking me every 10 seconds something baby related: "Are you in labor?" "What if you go in labor in the car?" "When is Zoe coming?" "I wonder what she's going to look like?" "How much longer?"

He's excited. He has no idea what's about to happen. He's also turned into a lactivist thanks to the hospital's sibling class, going so far as to tell his teacher that babies CAN'T have bananas, they can ONLY have BREAST MILK.

I winced.

My little guy has no idea. We got him a baby doll to try to explain/get him familiar with a baby. He holds it by the legs, kisses its head and flings it across the room.

My oldest DD and his DD are great and excited ( mine is 21 and his is 9) however his DS ( the only one who lives with us) is not doing well with the upcoming change to the point that we have have had to seek professional help for him because of his attitude and actions!

Its to the point where he will not at the moment be allowed to be alone with his new brother when he comes. Its very sad. I just hope that the councilor will be able to help him with the issues we are having so he will be able to enjoy being a bog brother.

Shorty is starting to want mommy to do everything with her. Just a little clingy. I think she realizes that I'm not lifting and carrying her as much. She talks to little brother and kisses my tummy and gives him hugs, but I don't think she connects that he's a baby and going to be coming soon.

My concern is Shorty is very sensitive to when people are unhappy/crying. Even if it's on tv, she gets super worried and worked up. I'm concerned that when the baby cries, she'll be so worried and anxious all day long. Makes me sad because I don't want her feeling like that.

DD loves babies, but doesn't really understand yet (she is 19 months). She says "Baby!" and rubs, kisses, and pats my belly, but I know she doesn't get that the baby will be coming out soon and never leaving.

She has also been incredibly attached to me, to the point where I am getting concerned about the transition. We have been trying to ease DH into more of her responsibilities so she gets used to it now, but he did bedtime last night (with me sitting right next to them) and she got so worked up when we put her to bed that she threw up everywhere. Ugh, it's going to be tough!

The other day she did run up and stick her baby doll bottle in my belly button to feed the baby, so that was pretty cute.

My DS has recently decided he wants a little sister not a little brother. I had the Harmony Prenatal test done, and the results where 99% boy. So good luck getting a little sister DS.

My son is still not excited and does not want to talk about the baby or being a big brother. He's being very clingy with me. He is three.

My 4 yo has started talking to the baby...telling baby how his day went and what is going on at that time. He asks me at every dr appt if the dr is going to cut the baby out today, and I tell him no not today. He's not anxious about it though. He's a daddy's boy, so I'm not worried about him not taking to the baby. My 18 mo has no clue. He thinks my belly is a stepping stool, and if I I pull my shirt up to "air out" my belly then he thinks that's a cue to start blowing raspberries. He is a total mommas boy, and I know he is not going to do well with having a baby in the house, taking a lot of mommies time. I'm so grateful DH can work from home for 6 weeks, I think that will really help.

DD (who is almost 2½) just recently started asking when baby is going to wake up. I wonder sometimes if she thinks we've been kidding about this baby thing.

But really, I don't think she actually gets what's happening.

@chillypenguin‌ - sounds like my DD.

She'll be 2 in June and will hug/pat/kiss the baby belly, but I don't think she gets that a real baby will be joining the house and taking up some of mommy and daddy's attention.

She loves her baby dolls and stuffed animals, but will also purposely drop them just so she can pick them up every so carefully and say "alright, I got'chu. I got'chu bear" . LOL it's kinda cute.

She's been clingy lately, too. Loves to play with her daddy, but for things like naps and bedtime and other "nurturing" activities, it has to be mommy. It's getting hard and frustrating b/c I can't be as mobile and pick her up constantly and I know she's going to be upset when I can't do bedtime b/c I'm feeding the baby. She didn't even want DH to push the shopping cart this weekend and demanded that it be me. Ugh... I foresee a rough start once baby sister comes home.

Yes, that is exactly how it's been! I hate that you are going through it too, but glad to know I am not alone!

She LOVES daddy playtime, but everything else has to be me. Hopefully they will both surprise us with an easy transition.

DS seems excited...and we talk about it a lot, but I really think it is one of those things where he won't really understand until the baby is here. I worry bc he is really a momma's boy and obviously has had over 3 years of all the attention from us. However, at the moment, he seems super sweet about it. He likes to touch my belly, talk to the baby, asks me questions about things babies do, etc. Luckily DH's sister had a baby very recently so he has had some exposure to seeing a new baby and seeing how things go with that. I hope he handles it well.

@chillypenguin @RugbyMamma - my 2 year old is the same way with me vs MH. He can only do bedtime if I'm not in the house and we need to work on that because there may be plenty of times coming up that it will just be easier for me if he does it (and I'd prefer to be able to be IN the house!) She loves him of course, but when she needs comforting, etc, she comes to me and will actively get away from him/tell him no if he tries to comfort her while I'm in the vicinity. I'm sure it's because she's with me a lot more (we both work, but I'm the one who picks her up and does the whole evening routine with her, etc). I fear she's in for quite a wake-up call when baby gets here!

DS is 3 and seems to be excited. He always hugs, kisses and talks to my belly. He says he will protect his sister from cars and bad guys. And when she pees or poops, he will bring me diapers. He's had full attention for so long so I hope the transition to two kids is smooth. I've been involving him with decisions with his baby sister like picking out a sleeper and the rug for her room. He also helped bring me pieces when I was putting together her dresser.

This! Not sure my 3 yo son really believes that he's getting a little sibling to stay in his home soon.
Tonight he said he wants a brother AND a sister - not one at a time though, he wants twins! Eeek, no no sweet child. You get one, not both!
